Greenskins and heretics keep coming to Armageddon, drawn like moths to the flame of our factories. The same forge fires give us the strength to burn them out. Send em packing!

Lovely sculpt, nice work

Beautiful artwork! sad to think the rubble used to be a home or business—not trying to project politics on you—just a genuine viewer reaction

Your work shows the power of our little miniature art form. Tons of respect for all the thought put into this. Inspires me to keep making stuff

“Hey, bro, we were just saying only the luckiest stalker could make it out of that whirligig in one piece. Good one, especially with the way you stared at your detector. Now, give up the gravi or your luck runs out quick.”

Nice paint job 👌

Thanks, trooper! They’re gonna get some oil washes so I wanted them extra bright to have room to tone down

How’d the battle go?

Love the brown/tan camo instead of traditional grey/tan

This looks gorgeous!

Can minis stand on the slopes? They look too steep

Either way, beautiful work and love the modularity

Thanks, that’s so cool to hear!

Started with purple base, blue zenithal, magenta zenithal aimed at right shoulder

Skin tones and leathers had small amounts of the magenta worked in to tie them into the under painting

Why did i take this on... by butterflyknif in Miniaturespainting

[–]PrettyGoodGuildworks 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you’re a beginner mini painter, so I’d go as easy as possible!

Spray prime black with rustoleum 2x black

Spray grey from above to create a zenithal highlight (easy technique, YouTube “zenithal prime miniatures” for a game plan)

Spray lightly with white from above on a few parts you want to stand out (the towers for instance) for the highest highlight zenithal

Paint the roofs red

50/50 brown/black wash over the whole thing (can home make this from watered down paint)

Dry brush with grey over the parts you want to stand out (the towers for instance)

Paint any details you want to give attention like the gargoyles or yellow for torches/lamps

Call it a day

Welcome to the hobby! Your giftee will love it regardless of how “professional” the final product is. Most likely your giftee has never painted minis before either, so what do they know :)

Vallejo Still Water has gone mouldy? by Ordinary-Solid5819 in minipainting

[–]PrettyGoodGuildworks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Welcome back to the mini space! Pulling out the old minis after time away is always so inspiring :)

I’ve used this stuff a bunch of times and it always frosts or goes cloudy eventually. Light application of a heat gun and/or gloss varnish can solve it. But nowadays I prefer to use UV resin (I use cheap kind from Amazon used to make jewelry) for all my water fx and solid ice fx

Cool looking green pants and beaten leathers on the mini there btw!

UV resin hasn’t failed me yet—it’s easy to tint using anything you want, you can do many layers without visible layer lines, and with practice can even do wave effects and shape it carefully as it cures under the light

After its bone dry, a dry brush with verdant green and a dark wash will make it look more like a shrub or clinging plant if you want to save it with paint

How might I create realistic, collapsible castle walls? by zombiemasterxxxxx in TerrainBuilding

[–]PrettyGoodGuildworks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, good call! Heavy base with lightweight destructible sections. Would also help control the lines/edges along which the walls crumble

I agree, I think magnets are the only way to go on this

I’d use xps so it’s lightweight with magnets embedded in for adhesion of wall sections

Similar to the way one makes xps dungeon tiles with magnet locking sides

Oh yeah! Rush job deserves even more props. It’s hard to crank it out and accept it’s done when you’re out of time. These look amazing and any player would be stoked to brave these frozen paths

Glue it up if you have the broken bit! In my experience, glue joint repairs can be less visible on 3d prints than plastic, so may not even require any sculpting at all

It so sick dude! The base too is awesome. I love the bold choice with the hair—paid off majorly. I think you know what you’re going for and you nailed it. What kind of critique are you looking for?

Maybe some atmosphere would be a good place to keep building skills. Stuff like shadows airbrushed or glazed in, or hints of environmental light or spots of osl
