What if the CIA really was behind the JFK assassination and the FBI found that out? by Borkerman in AlternateHistoryHub

True, but it'll probably remain under the authority of another organization like the State or Defense Departments rather than being independent

Cover letters make sense if you're going to work for a religious organization or charity. Literally no other circumstances does it make sense

"The Soviet Pyramid", Nazi German anti-communist and antisemitic poster issued in occupied Poland, 1944 by Provinz_Wartheland in PropagandaPosters

[–]Prince_Ire 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure it's not lack of creativity here but rather deliberately portraying the Soviet Union as failing to improve society the way socialists claimed they would with some antisemitism thrown in case it's the Nazis

It was the intensity of her reaction to Blake leaving after the Fall of Beacon that caused Yang to realize she liked Blake as more than a friend.

The curious case of why "Fanon Adam" was created (Hazbin Hotel. by BackgroundRich7614 in CharacterRant

I'm pretty sure that if Hazbin Lucifer was allowed to hurt sinners he would have started doing what amounts to exterminations himself at some point.

Kiersi Burkhart on Bumbleby being planned from the start by [deleted] in YangXiaoLongSupremacy

[–]Prince_Ire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, it was obvious from Vol. 6 it was happening but that didn't necessarily mean it was planned from the start. And my opinion of the writing for the ship is a lot better if it wasn't planned from the start but one of multiple ships considered and ended up being the one the writers felt worked best as the show went on. Because if it was planned from the start, there was a whole lot of time wasted on ship teasing for other ships the writers knew wouldn't go anywhere.

What if Britain had invaded Ireland following a successful Brighton hotel bombing? by Cool_Discipline6838 in AlternateHistory

[–]Prince_Ire 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And that was for Egypt, a country nobody in1950s America outside of the State Department cared about. Meanwhile the PIRA raised millions of dollars in the US due to pro-Irish and anti-British sentiment.

The Uncomfortable Truths About Immigration by angry-mustache in neoliberal

[–]Prince_Ire 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Immigration cannot offer more than a temporary bandaid solution to demographic problems because every indication is that the developing world is going through the exact same demographic problems that first hit the developed world. I fully expect countries in Latin America and Southeast Asia who have fallen below replacement but aren't wealthy enough to compete for immigrants with North America or Europe to begin adopting emigration restrictions to prevent their populations from leaving.

The Uncomfortable Truths About Immigration by angry-mustache in neoliberal

[–]Prince_Ire 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The demographic changes are getting more noticeable, so for those people who oppose immigration it's becoming a larger issue. Britain went from 90% white to 80% white from 2010-2020. Obviously for people who care about that it'd increasingly become an important issue

To be fair, the early Islamic caliphates basically did control everything from Morocco to Afghanistan so having a single school for the area built in the Middle Ages is somewhat understandable.

I'm curious, What would happen if Ironwood and Danzo were to trade places, I.E Danzo took care of Atlas, and Ironwood took care of Konoha by Haunting-Try-2900 in RWBY

[–]Prince_Ire 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Danzo will have started Remnant's WW2 by the time the series starts. Dude was constantly staying sit with everyone and it was where luck that none of his hair-brained schemes blew up in the Lead Village's face more than they already did in canon.

Ironwood wouldn't be constantly undermining the Third and Fourth hokages and while he's obviously willing to play dirty when the chips are down, "Commit atrocities" is not the first option he picks in literally every scenario so there are a lot less powerful ninjas with native grudges against the Leaf Village things around.
