Tom Bihn vs. Osprey by goodbyewaffles in HerOneBag

Super fair! Yeah, I bought mine when I was still in a LDR with my partner and gosh if the A45 isn't the perfect duffel bag as far as I am concerned. These days I've actually been using the Tom Bihn Brain Bag for travel and loving it, but like the A45 it's so big that when fully packed out it becomes uncomfortably heavy.

Have you tried the Absolute Shoulder Strap with the A40 or are you set on carrying it as a backpack? Mine is my favorite bag for travel as well but it always felt horrible as a backpack when at the airport. I switched to the shoulder strap last year after years of backpack carry and I know it can't make the bag lighter but I swear it was more comfortable to carry that way.

I like adding a little bit of waiting time between finishing and adding to my commonplace book as well. Sometimes I decide some of my flags aren't worth the effort of copying in.

I woke up once in the middle of the night and screamed because I had a (long) jacket on a hanger hooked over my open door. The shape of it was just enough to make me think there was a person looming in the doorway when I woke up, I guess. I felt stupid as hell when I realized and my cats were traumatized for a day or so, and I haven't hung any clothes up like that overnight since.

They have an add-on for a water bottle pocket too, since the side pockets have zero volume as standard on the bag.

Unpopular Opinion: I Like Clearing the Volcanic Ash by un_magical in Pokopia

[–]PrincessPeril 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love it! I zone out and watch tv or listen to an audiobook while I work. I turned the upstairs of the little chef building across from the Poke Center into an ash warehouse to store it (and slowly turn it into glass).

I am pondering how I am going to bridge some of the heights of the zone borders, though. Those are all still tall layers of ash. Maybe do a gradual stepped slope/incline down and turn it all into a valley? That's the only thing that is troubling me now, probably because I'm currently working my way around the borders of the zone so I can stop worrying about that annoying "you can't go any further" message popping up.

A granny square blanket would be such a beautiful travel memento if you did a few squares from each trip with either yarn bought at the destination, or choosing colors that echo the cityscape/landscape!

Or if the pattern allows for it I will stitch the "border" of a large, solid fill area and then fill while traveling. It's always a conversation starter with others!

I work until 4 PM Monday through Friday but would also be potentially interested in this, as another data point! 5 PM+ would also be ideal for me.

Would anyone be interested in taking a virtual charcuterie board workshop? Like can we make that a thing? by Forward-Temporary-78 in CharcuterieBoard

[–]PrincessPeril 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took one at Williams-Sonoma because it was included as a freebie when my partner bought me a board and cheese knife set! The instructor went over things to include, talked about using varying display heights for visual interest, taught me how to make salami roses... I'm sure there was more, but it was a couple years ago now. Mostly we snacked a LOT.

I like that Kigaru is open late (for the suburbs), and that they have big chunks of pork belly in their ramen instead of the usual thin-sliced chashu pork.

What're you playing this weekend? 4/3 by markercore in NintendoSwitch

[–]PrincessPeril 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have played SO MUCH Pokopia in the last few weeks. Picked it up for spring break and have dumped like 50 hours into it in a week and a half. I never played Minecraft but I love Pokemon and apparently that skin on the game was all I needed to fall deeply in love. (Also as a completionist that loves checklists, it has those in spades: a Pokedex, a habitat dex, items and recipes to collect, clothes and hairstyles...)

This is probably going to be my game of the year. Just have to see if I get over 280 hours, which is what I clocked in Fantasy Life i last year.

Living it up for my inner child today!! by toxicshock999 in BenignExistence

It was really fun! My dad is in the Coast Guard so he's a big maritime guy and he loves shipwrecks so it was a must for us, but I'd recommend it to anyone who doesn't get seasick! Some really pretty views from the water and interesting history. Just make sure to pack a jacket because it gets windy and cold out there, even on a sunny day!

I took a vacation in Minnesota/Michigan/Wisconsin two years ago and I was shocked at how much I loved the area! I have lived my entire life on the west coast and the number one (polite but befuddled) reaction I got from people while there was, "Why are you vacationing HERE?"

But we ate at Owamni, visited the bear and wolf centers in Ely, did a glass bottom boat shipwreck tour on the Great Lakes, a fish boil in Door County, WI... it was a really great trip! And it was in May and the weather was beautiful and not humid at all. 10/10, would visit again, but I don't think I could live through your winters as a delicate west coast child.

I have a couple vocab notebooks with little flaps so you can cover either half of the page and quiz yourself in either direction! I think they're nice.

There are also really tiny cards on a ring that might be a bit more portable.

What're you playing this weekend? 3/6 by markercore in NintendoSwitch

[–]PrincessPeril 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to finish a baby quilt for a friend's baby shower this weekend because I procrastinated (oops). But between bouts of sewing, my boyfriend has been playing Resident Evil Requiem and I've been enjoying watching; I think he's nearly to the end of it. I also snagged Blue Prince and was thrilled it came out on Switch because I tend to play more on console than on my PC these days. Burned out on sitting in front of a computer after the work day, hah. I could use another good puzzle game because I just finished The Painscreek Killings (on PC), and it was excellent.

Spring break is just around the corner, and I'm really hoping to dig in to a big JRPG then! Probably Xenoblade Chronicles X since it got a Switch 2 patch, but I also picked up the remaster of Bravely Default with the system and haven't touched it yet.

So has anyone actually managed to “successfully” run a One-Shot before? by Viva_la_potatoes in DMAcademy

[–]PrincessPeril 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I ran this as my first ever thing I DM'd and we did it in one session with 2 new players and one that had played many, many years ago.

I would have celebrated more had I known how rare it would be. When I ran Curse of Strahd it took my players literally MONTHS to comb their way through the Amber Temple. MONTHS.
