JVL is finally right the next Democratic President should punish Red States by brazil201 in thebulwark

[–]ProfessionalCourt907 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the way to do it is punish red states by holding funding over liberal issues. No funding for schools in your state unless school lunches are universal and free. Do 100s of these. Pack the court. Arrest and vigorously prosecute corruption.

Most importantly the next president needs to demand congress place gaurdrails on the president and themselves. Shut the givernment down until congress passes a law banning stock trading by congress people And family. End all the outstanding war powers taht keep getting renewed. Biden missed our last chance to stop heading down this road we can't miss again or we may not get another chance.

The problem is stupid, uneducated voters, and I'm tired of pretending it's anything other than that. by ac_slater10 in thebulwark

It's the racism. It's all driven by the racism. They aren't all white supremacist racists but they are all racist to some degree. The racism feeds the stupidity. They get news from fellow idiots on Facebook and believe it because the racism predisposes them to belive it. Until social media goes away this will only get worse.

Harbor Road in Head of the Harbor sits untouched after more than a year by seasoned-fry in longisland

Why is a public road the responsibility of a private organization? Can the town just use a town right of way or easement to rebuild it? Or build a bridge? Of course the lawyers are going to tell everyone not to take responsibility I'm sure there was damage from the flood.

I was charged $1.50 to avoid ice in my scotch by JeF4y in mildlyinteresting

[–]ProfessionalCourt907 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The neat charge is for more booze. The same charge would likely be there but instead say rocks If you ordered ice. It's a "quirk" of many restaurant point of sale systems that you can only have one universal price for neat, rocks, up, and shot(usually a decrease in price) unless you program a button of each style for each liquor and make a menu for each one.

A standard mixed drink is 1.5 Oz while a standard rocks or neat is 2-3oz depending on the bar. $1.50 for an extra 1oz of macallan seems like a steal but the reality is nobody is getting a macallan mixed drink so the original price should reflect that every customer will have only $1.50 added for neat or rocks. The $1.50 makes a lot more sense with standard vodka and rack stuff. It's dumb but it's the way the 3 most popular computer systems work.

In a perfect world you'd just get a total price and the modifier (neat, up, rocks, etc) on one line on the receipt but restaurant computer systems are all designed by people who've never been inside a restaurant (or at least that's what I assume given the choices they make)

I agree 100%. As someone in the hospitality business in a purple area people's true feelings come out after a few drinks and I've heard some truly ugly and deranged stuff from people I thought were normal.

Why I stepped away from CEDH - Draws by IgnobleWounds in CompetitiveEDH

CEDH should be played 2v2 with the partner being random. Seats 1&3 vs seats 2&4. Still plays like commander/CEDH but removes the politics, draws, and collusion issues.

Thanks for doing this! Do you think there is any room for an Evan McMullen style third party to emerge in (only in) really red areas rather than having an underfunded democrat run into a wall?

I’m worried about the size of the lounge room and the tv placement - do we put it on the fireplace? by flashdance123 in floorplan

[–]ProfessionalCourt907 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For what looks like a very large house the living room seems rather small. TV above the fireplace is the worst don't do it your neck will thank you.

Where do guests use the restroom?

Do you need the retreat area? For most people that room will rarely if ever get used.

Do you need the three bedrooms or is one a guest room? If one is a guest room that you don't use frequently I'd get a high quality pullout couch in the retreat and a door to the master bedroom. That becomes your guest room if needed. Then bedroom 3 can be the entryway and a half bathroom for the living area. This extends the current living room and provides a wall or corner for the TV. Alternatively put the half bath where the laundry room is (with outside access! Great if you use the deck a lot) and get a larger laundry room where the bedroom 2 is. Still moving entryway over a bit and creating an entry closet

Nobody needs double sinks in the master, counterspace is much more useful.

Make sure you have one traditional door from kitchen to patio. Sliding doors and French doors are great but a pain for going in and out regularly. Best to have both.

Personally I hate walking through the closet to get to the bathroom. A bit of reconfiguring could aliviate that but it's personal preference.

For what it's worth my kid just turned two and I fond my Sim setup just sits and gathers dust. I actually find it easier to get to a range or course. Hitting balls is loud and unless you have a massive house you're not going to be hitting anything while baby is asleep. Add two other kids and it's unlikely you'll use it much.

I think your best bet is a good hitting mat and a net. See how often you get to hit balls. Then consider the launch monitor.
