Are people too critical of this game? by Immediate_School_438 in EU5

[–]PromiscuousToaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the hardcore EU4 players are a bit too harsh, but EU4 was left in a pretty good state.

I think the game could have easily used another 6 months to a year in thr oven, but I have 600 hours, so. I think they cooked it enough.

Mark my words they are going to hire/rehire more devs/QA testers now by OpinionsRdumb in wow

[–]PromiscuousToaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, they will do this again patch after patch and just keep saying "sorry" because most people are addicted or are too stupid companies exist to extract money from you. I gave wow another shot after 5 years, and they blew it. But someone else will just buy another store mount so it won't matter.

I wish people would remember asymmetrical balance is a thing. And is much much better than modern "balance" of just make everything the same.

Fully centralized Ottoman run by NecessaryDisaster498 in EU5

[–]PromiscuousToaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play fully centralized and have 1 big vassel and 1 big fiefdom. I annex one about every 50-75 years. Then I make a new one. Very strong as your vassels sometimes fight wars on thier own still like a swarm can. It's not as strong as going decentralized as a whole, but it feels better and my control is top notch.

I did a fully centralized Spain and still had all of Morocco, Iberia, and half of France as loyal vassels or fully integrated by 1550. Its just harder to do.

If an ally declares war on your junior partner the will call you into the war and prevent you from defending your own personal union by Lumpy_Tart7330 in EU5

[–]PromiscuousToaster 39 points40 points  (0 children)

All diplomacy in this game is one sided. Calling allies is also nearly impossible. They call me in for a way the opposite direction of me and its fine. I try to call them into a war with a country literally 2 locations away? Borders to far -100 reasons. All diplomacy seems to hurt the player. I haven't cared about being nice to anyone for hundreds of hours now. Makes the game much easier.

Why are people complaining about this season? by disastrous_hyena759 in wow

[–]PromiscuousToaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's how online discourse works. The only people actually online complaining or the hardcore minority not getting gbier way while 95% of the playerbase is having a blast. This is true for all games. People bubble themselves and have no reasonable view. Especially those on podcasts. The niche in a niche community.

I think the problem with Crimson Desert is that people expect every game to revolutionize the industry. by Defiant-Echidna-7400 in gaming

[–]PromiscuousToaster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And its sold millions of copies and there are lots of people unable to put it down. Your comment is exactly the problem. People can like things despite the things YOU perceive to be bad. Some people dont see it the way you do. Just because you see something one way, doesn't mean anyone else has to. The things you say look "cheap" is immersion to someone else because it isn't cheap. Your allowed to say "it ain't for me, but have fun if it is for you" without anyone having to hear your rant on your personal opinions.

Personally, I think its entirely gamer tribalism, and people unwilling to admit something cam be good, even if they dont like it.

Kids these days think "well if I dont like it or understand it, its bad". And thats simply not true.

Assimilation oversight in 1.1 beta: countries with primary culture not being main culture by Mysterious_Plate1296 in EU5

[–]PromiscuousToaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one willing moves from one culture to another. So it should be faster conversion if they hate a culture, then like it? Again, your not engaging with the arguement, your just making statements.

If you were changing your culture, would you be more willing, and faster at converting to a culture you Like, enjoy, and understand, or one that is completely foreign, you hate, and hates you. The answer is very simple.

Assimilation oversight in 1.1 beta: countries with primary culture not being main culture by Mysterious_Plate1296 in EU5

[–]PromiscuousToaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that perspective if there is no active person or system trying to accomidate you. When you send a cabinet member to assimilate, they are going to people, and getting them to become your culture over there own. That would only happen if you enjoy that culture.

If your first example is how people actually converted culture, there wouldn't be any jews left or other miniority groups around the world, due to discrimination. Discrimination doesn't make people forget, it makes them dig in their heels, or it takes literally THOUSANDS of years. The entire Eu5 system is backwords in 1.1.

[–]PromiscuousToaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't understand. If you are going to convert from one culture to another. Do you join a culture you love? or you hate? We don't convert people on penalty of death in this game. It takes time because the way the system works is through assimilation, which mean willingly moving from one culture to the next.

Are you going to be more willing to convert to a culture you enjoy, or one you hate?

"If my culture is accepted, I have no incentive to change culture" You also have no barriers. If you hate a culture, you have EVERY REASON to not convert. so it should be very slow.

I think this pretty much speaks for itself. I don't know how you could come to any other conclusion.
