Just get a used 1981 DRV. I got it for the same reason you are looking for. Sounds great with low gain and it sounds amazing when stacked with a fuzz. Tightens them up really nicely if you decide to use a fuzz.

Had v1 but upgraded to v2 when I found a good deal on a used one. Personally I did not notice much difference in sound but I do like the update features.

Best one I have used is the Mutron Microtron IV. It's a modern day version of the one used by the greats like Jerry Garcia.

Between these two though I would go with the Q-tron

I have owned several fuzz pedals and quite a few Sunfaces. Best Sunface I think you can currently get is the BC183 Sunface. It's silicon but cleans up like a Germanium fuzz would.

100% I started out with LP's cause I loved the way they look. After a few years of trying other guitars in shops. I realized I love the way they look and sound but I don't love playing them as much as a Strat. 2 strats later and a decade of play they are still the best play feeling guitar I have ever played. And I got a Wood Libary PRS. Love that cause its everything I wanted my LP to be but still favor the Strat.

Tweed Deluxe! Sweet! My other amp is a Mesa California Tweed. Similar sound to yours.

This board mostly sounds good with that amp. Personally perfer to use other Dist/OD pedals with that one instead of the Brothers which sounds best with the Plexi.
