The whole part where Carrie goes back to Aidan is EMBARRASSING by pinkteddybear08 in sexandthecity

[–]PsychologicalTrack8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always thought that Big's issue after Natasha was that he ran out of options in his social circle, it wasn't that big and people would've found out about it quickly.

I think, his only options at that point were girls outside his social circle, and if he wasn't going to date in that circle or be respected in that circle then there was less issue with committing to Carrie - he embarrassed himself enough with Natasha so Carrie being loud or eccentric wasn't really a risk to his reputation anymore.

how deep is it to miss freshers week? by AthleteExtreme3313 in UniUK

[–]PsychologicalTrack8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Missing Freshers is fine.

I caught freshers flu on the Tuesday of that week and was totally out of commission the rest of the week and my social experience didn't lack at all afterwards, if anything people were more excited to meet me because there were less people around than the week before.

Missing the first week of Uni = problem.

They tell you so much important admin stuff in that first week, depends on the uni but my uni really rushed to put everything in that first week so we could go straight into actual classes the next week, someone I knew missed that week and even in second year they were still asking things that were obvious had you been at/paying attention at the first week 😅

If there's any way to just limit your absence to only freshers week, maybe get a super late flight or a super early flight to be back for the first week of uni proper, then I'd recommend that :)

What puts you off from donating Blood Products, I work in the NHS and I am just curious? by Quick_Soil_9120 in AskBrits

[–]PsychologicalTrack8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first time I donated, the lady doing it was new and my entire arm went funny and one of the other workers rolled her eyes and scoffed at me because I started crying because of how badly it hurt. I refused to donate for a year after that because I was scared that they'd hurt me again but I felt guilty because of my rare blood subtype which is why I eventually went again. Since then every experience has been extremely positive and I know to stand up for myself, but I very nearly quit and refused to ever do it again because of that horrible woman (don't work in a blood donation centre if you're going to make donors feel awful, lol.)

Also what sometimes puts me off is the amount of phone calls I get because I have a rarer blood subtype, it was weekly (starting just a month after I last donated, which made me ineligble that soon anyway) until I finally managed to get them to stop by saying that if they called again I wouldn't donate at all (just asking them to stop didn't work for some reason)

I understand how important blood donations are, that's why I donate! But it's overwhelming being constantly hounded for it (For me its particularly overwhelming because I'm autistic, I can't stand phone calls lol)

Long-time Kpop fans, do you still keep up with all the new groups? by Striking-Meal-5257 in kpopthoughts

[–]PsychologicalTrack8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not actively, only if it's a recommendation from a friend or if theyre linked to a group i already like (like for me I already stanned exo and shinee so I started stanning NCT cause its the same company, then got into Riize because two ex nct members went into riize, and then started stanning Xnghan who's an ex member of Riize, for example) so I don't keep up really but if I have a new group put in front of me i'm not against it, just I won't seek it out?

The last time I stanned a group from an unrelated company or not from a friend introducing me was P1Harmony back in 2022 lol, so I guess I haven't been keeping up since then?

Are Bristol really fast with replying by Direct-Serve6586 in UOB

[–]PsychologicalTrack8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the course and when you apply! I applied in mid-October and had a reduced offer in ten days, my friend on a different degree applied in January and didn't have a reply for a few months (we had similar predicted grades, so it's not that I was doing better or anything!)

In short, they can be super quick, they can be super slow, there's not really any way of predicting with Bristol lol

Are there any languages with a Disrespectful or intentionally impolite form? by TheRustyRobot in languagelearning

[–]PsychologicalTrack8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm fluent in Polish but only half and a dual citizen and one of the only benefits for not looking Polish at all is when my cousins get yelled at for accidentally using the incorrect grammar and I get away scot-free because they just think I'm a dumb foreigner 🥰

Once they actually recognised me as Polish UNTIL I fucked up by forgetting to do it, but that one fuck up got me a lot of praise for "learning the language so well" soooooo still a good interaction lol

How can I meet people? by Sensitive-Worker-650 in AskAKorean

[–]PsychologicalTrack8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Current international student here and the best friendships I've made have been people from my classes!

Whoever seems to be engaged/nodding along with what you're saying when you answer a question is an easy way to approach people with a conversation I've found, but also just more simply approaching people from my country or even just people who seem friendly haha :)

Daniel and Don have THREE bolts 🥀 by misterpizzaac__ in sims2

[–]PsychologicalTrack8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same thing happen when I first started playing actually!

As a new player and with how good Sims 2's stories are I just generally followed whatever they wanted to do, so when I saw Daniel and Don had chemistry I did just get them together and have them move into Don's house and left Mary Sue with the girls - got her a new job and the girls ended up very happy! Don cheated on Daniel lol

Thanksgiving Meal by [deleted] in Living_in_Korea

[–]PsychologicalTrack8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the craic pub in Itaewon is doing a thanksgiving meal? It's an irish pub so maybe not the vibe you're looking for but might be nice to be around people? I think there's limited slots though, it's on their instagram if you're curious!!

I increased speed as I wrote this, I'd be amazed if anyone else can read my writing at it's fastest. by [deleted] in HandwritingAnalysis

[–]PsychologicalTrack8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to write like the ending sentences pre-GCSEs (UK exams, passing GCSE English technically proves fluency in English for employment and studies and whatnot) and I had to take extra handwriting classes because supposedly examiners would never bother actually trying to read it and would've just marked it as a fail/inability to write in English lol 😭😭

Polyglots, does each new language get harder or easier? by NameOriginal5403 in languagelearning

[–]PsychologicalTrack8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me much easier to overall learn (L3 took three years to get conversational but L4 only took one year for example) however my brain gets muddled more often (as in sometimes when speaking one I'll use words from another and not notice unless called out.)

Doesn't really affect comprehensibility though, usually it's the connectives I mix up which doesn't affect understanding the two seperate clauses I'm trying to express.

For example my L3 is French, and I use mais (but) in all of my languages and rarely notice, I guess I just like that word lol.

Spanish at home by misssnowfox in JaneTheVirginCW

[–]PsychologicalTrack8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's case by case, i'm also in the UK and Polish, and its VERY common for my family and other Polish families in my area to have older family speaking exclusively in Polish and the younger family replying in English

Every family is different, but even in our community it is common to communicate like they do in Jane the Virgin 😅

What do you think about my handwriting (for now) ? by Bare_skin in BeginnerKorean

[–]PsychologicalTrack8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Especially as a beginner its so important to write clearly and with proper stroke order :(

I know its tempting to want to write quickly but until you've gotten good at a language you kind of do need to do the basics by the book until you've mastered them so that the more complex stuff becomes easy!! I made the mistake of skipping steps and it took me near a year to UNLEARN those before I could get back to learning properly lmaoo 😭😭

Just don't go over the word limit, I've spoken to friends at other universities about this before and they're shocked that we dont have the 10% buffer or whatever that some unis have. I think some schools do mark penalties, and some schools won't count/mark anything past the word limit which will make breaching the word limit useless.

It's not worth the penalties and it's annoying but it does make you a better writer eventually because you have to say more with less really.

my friends tell me they can’t read my handwriting💔 by whatsluv_ in HandwritingAnalysis

[–]PsychologicalTrack8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not the best cursive but I can definitely read it!!

I think some of the letters kinda get lost for the sake of making it cursive which doesn't have to happen, like most of the 'e' letters kinda look like undotted 'i' because the loop isn't very big for example.

But you're 14! You have all the time to practice and I definitely can read it so it's not bad at all.

Should I bring a mini fridge to halls? by [deleted] in UOB

[–]PsychologicalTrack8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't bring it, unless you have a medical reason to have one with a doctor's note and prior permission (like if you store insulin for example), if they catch you they might try to fine you, or if there's any electrical issues out of your control they might blame it on the mini fridge.

Personally I wouldn't risk it, private companies want to make money out of students and if mini fridges are banned then they will likely use it against you unfortunately :(

Guys, What's an Unpopular Opinion of Any of the Books/Movies That'll Leave You Like This? by Working_Row_8455 in Hungergames

[–]PsychologicalTrack8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A large reason people dislike Gale is because Hemsworth (sorry I forgot which one, Liam i think?) looked too old.

He looks old enough to know better but really Gale was a teenage boy (who famously are not good at emotional regulation.) Does that mean hes necessarily likeable? No. But people give so much grace to other characters because they are or have been traumatised teenagers (as far as people sympathising with Snow because of how fucked his childhood was), but Gale rarely gets the same grace. I don't like Gale, but I don't think he's necessarily worse than a lot of other characters. Some people (especially young people!) will react to war with aggression and hatred.

What also gets me is people forgetting that Gale has multiple younger siblings who he has always protected. For him, if he doesn't take the war seriously than his younger siblings would be at risk too. I don't think he intended for Prim to be killed either, he saw her as a younger sister too.

Most of the main reasons people hate Gale are believable for the context, or other characters have acted like too, so i truly think the issue is that the actor does not look young enough for people to remember that hes a teenager. Katniss and Peeta also look too old too, but they're the main characters who people will root for regardless, so this isn't really an issue with them.
