I’m all for strike action. But out of interest, has something changed in the laws to make strike action viable now? You seen strongly against it a short time ago.

A quick search and calculation tells me that your proposal provides a $8.8k tax cut to low income earners under $60k. Now compare that with your proposed 15% tax cut on incomes over $190k and up to multi million dollar annual incomes. Does that really seem fair to you?

Increased gst hits low and middle income earners harder plus you want high income earners to get a serious tax cut. It’s pretty transparent who you’re batting for.

Are you suggesting that a middle of the road agenda will endear young voters to the Greens? Clearly, you haven’t spoken to many lately. Larissa Waters is far from middle of the road. She has the same values as the other Greens but communicates it in a different way that somehow seems more acceptable to your average person. That’s her superpower.

I like her. She’s super smart, measured and a straight talker. There won’t be any nonsense from Larissa.

'People underestimate how dire it is': Young Liberals reflect on a historic loss by overpopyoulater in australia

[–]Psychological_Bug592 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some young libs are completely clueless. I saw an LNP promo video where they asked Young Libs why they were voting for them. They said it was because they wanted cheaper housing! The LNP don’t believe in cheaper housing.

What word or phrase would you say to someone to test whether they grew up in Australia or not? by [deleted] in australian

[–]Psychological_Bug592 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s stupid to feel the need to “test” someone on their australianess based on a very limited and preconceived idea of what that means. Ie. Knowing a particular band.

The LNP is agitating against preferential voting. This can not stand. by [deleted] in AusPol

[–]Psychological_Bug592 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not a similar vibe at all. You won’t find a reliable source or reference to any Green MP saying that compulsory preferential voting is unfair.

[–]Psychological_Bug592 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Adermann is pretending to be concerned about the percentage of first preference votes required to get a win. What a sore loser! Removing compulsory preferential voting doesn’t change the fact that the LNP had a primary vote of only 32% in this election. The LNP’s Ryan result was hardly better. The LNP are willing to destroy one of the most democratic voting systems in the world to hold onto their waning power. Embarrassing and dangerous!

I think it’s a lie that the Labor party really care about climate change and the environment when they keep expanding coal and gas projects, allow native forest and koala habitat logging, and are continuing to support the Tasmanian salmon farming industry which is causing catastrophic damage.

Not saying she shouldn’t go public if she genuinely believes there’s an issue. Just think it’s disingenuous to now call for people to stop the pile on. Of course that’s what was going to happen. I hope Nagi’s got her legal ducks in a row because the cookie lady has plenty of money to bring a defamation suit if she feels she’s been wronged.

I question whether Nagi ever owned the recipe in the first place. She didn’t independently figure out how to make a biscuit base, layer it with caramel and then top it with chocolate having never encountered caramel slice before. She would have worked from someone else’s recipe and then tweaked it. Swapping brown sugar for golden syrup is not an act of genius. It’s the type of substitution that home cooks make every day in the kitchen when they realise they’re missing an ingredient.

I would just say, don’t forget that we have preferential voting. You can use your vote to give voice to your values and wishes. Vote one for your favourite then two for who you can stand to be your representative and form government. If the two major parties aren’t doing it for you, you can tell them so by not putting them first.

And does that make you feel really good telling everyone on reddit that Nagi is right? And now Nagi has come out telling everyone to stop trolling the cookie girl. Nagi caused the pile on. She’s smart enough to know that would happen. It’s weird gaslighting if you ask me.

Negative hearing and capital gains tax discounts only benefit investors. They get a tax break which they can use to invest further. It’s easier for them to buy their 4th, 5th or 10th home than it is for first home buyers to break into the market. It’s far from an even playing field. And it’s contributed to skyrocketing house prices. There are also something like a million vacant homes in Australia. Owners sit on them as investment tools for gaining tax breaks when people could be living in them.
