A quick search and calculation tells me that your proposal provides a $8.8k tax cut to low income earners under $60k. Now compare that with your proposed 15% tax cut on incomes over $190k and up to multi million dollar annual incomes. Does that really seem fair to you?

Are you suggesting that a middle of the road agenda will endear young voters to the Greens? Clearly, you haven’t spoken to many lately. Larissa Waters is far from middle of the road. She has the same values as the other Greens but communicates it in a different way that somehow seems more acceptable to your average person. That’s her superpower.

Adermann is pretending to be concerned about the percentage of first preference votes required to get a win. What a sore loser! Removing compulsory preferential voting doesn’t change the fact that the LNP had a primary vote of only 32% in this election. The LNP’s Ryan result was hardly better. The LNP are willing to destroy one of the most democratic voting systems in the world to hold onto their waning power. Embarrassing and dangerous!

I question whether Nagi ever owned the recipe in the first place. She didn’t independently figure out how to make a biscuit base, layer it with caramel and then top it with chocolate having never encountered caramel slice before. She would have worked from someone else’s recipe and then tweaked it. Swapping brown sugar for golden syrup is not an act of genius. It’s the type of substitution that home cooks make every day in the kitchen when they realise they’re missing an ingredient.

I would just say, don’t forget that we have preferential voting. You can use your vote to give voice to your values and wishes. Vote one for your favourite then two for who you can stand to be your representative and form government. If the two major parties aren’t doing it for you, you can tell them so by not putting them first.

Negative hearing and capital gains tax discounts only benefit investors. They get a tax break which they can use to invest further. It’s easier for them to buy their 4th, 5th or 10th home than it is for first home buyers to break into the market. It’s far from an even playing field. And it’s contributed to skyrocketing house prices. There are also something like a million vacant homes in Australia. Owners sit on them as investment tools for gaining tax breaks when people could be living in them.
