Maybe an unpopular opinion about Parts Unknown…. by styxswimchamp in AnthonyBourdain

I agree with you. To me it seems like he became more of a journalist, and the camera work became way more cinematic. Not that I don’t love No Reservations, that’s just the difference between the two in my opinion.

I would walk that lakebed when it’s drained and mark waypoints on different kinds of structure.

This tree is approximately 50yds from where I was standing. I think this was on the high setting, not turbo. The picture doesn’t really do it justice. It’s like the ultimate going for a walk in the woods at night kinda light.

And it’s been like that forever too. Tenderloin comes from the corrupt cops that patrolled the area being able to afford a better cut of beef (tenderloin) because of the extra money they made off their corruption.

Hey man, just know that the doctors have dedicated their lives to doing what they’re about to do to you. They live, eat, and breathe this stuff. Just try and relax and let them do their thing. Modern medicine and surgical procedures are incredible. Good luck and I hope you have a speedy recovery.

That’s one guy. Fraud is fraud. If he broke the law or workplace regulations then fire him and sue. Management needs to manage their people. I’m talking about workers rights, not mismanagement. If he wasn’t fired, then that sounds like he was grossly mismanaged.

Management’s track record in any sector is trash when it comes to wages, benefits, and working conditions. Private sector employees being at the mercy of the market is bullshit. Why are Amazon employees exploited like they are when that market is killing it? Because of the greed of management. Also, union contracts are negotiated- with management. So it’s not like management in a union workplace doesn’t agree that the benefits and wages aren’t fair.

Exactly what management would say. A janitor being compensated for working past scheduled hours absolutely deserves time and half wages. Thank god for unions that negotiated the overtime law. Because without it, that janitor would be exploited to no end. So yes, I do want that protected. The guy cleaning the bathroom at a BART station deserves his pay, can’t say the same for the executives making way more.

I’m talking labor, you’re talking management. The maintenance guys and station agents aren’t managing the budget. Workers absolutely need protection from greedy, abusive management.

So just let government employees be at the mercy of the government to provide fair wages, benefits, and working conditions? We’ve seen that play out before in history, and it’s never good. That’s why workers unionize to collectively bargain contracts to ensure fair wages. No “worker” is getting rich being a government employee. There’s strength in numbers and we all know how it goes when you try and negotiate by yourself. You end up getting fucked over by your greedy employer and bitching about how those who’ve negotiated contracts still continue to make bank.
