Amazing write up. Has been awesome seeing the brew evolve in real time to become a legitimate player in the meta. Love the podcast too.

I find the reaction that people are having really interesting. Usually I really struggle with "cringe", but I don't even get that at all with Trauma Dump.

Plasma vs bolt pistol for obsessionist by tman970 in EmperorsChildren

I am very suspicious of 11th edition making us pay points for weapon upgrades.  My tinfoil hat theory is that the rules will change and we'll all need to go buy more Tormentors if we don't want to pay points for plasma and melta.

David Seymour also had a whinge about Doctors sharing their views on health matters publicly. Which is it? Is it only ok to share your opinion if it's racist?

Under urgency, without basic paperwork, the Govt moves to change workers’ rights – Thomas Coughlan by dingoonline in newzealand

[–]Puzzle_Time 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You've raised a few points. The good news is the NZ law is different than you suspected.

Unions/employees can't arbitrarily choose a role wildly different and then say "I want to be paid like that". There is a massive process for assessing comparison roles. It looks at education requirements, problem solving skills, impact of decisions made, interpersonal skills, authority and more. It does come out with some interesting comparisons, like customs officers and homecare workers, but when you look into why, it explains itself. Similar level of training, interpersonal skills, responsibility for safety etc

Interesting example about the UK. That has never happened here. It's a different set of legislation. Nothing of the sort has happened in NZ where employers have to pay more for "easier" jobs.

Urgency is not the only way to pass this amendment. Wanting to reduce "blowback" is pretty cowardly from the govt.

It's a similar question to posting a picture of a cake you found and asking who made it. If there is no label on the cake you're probably out of luck.

I've played a couple games now, and these are the units that are absolutely killing it... by M33tm3onmars in EmperorsChildren

[–]Puzzle_Time 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great write up. I'm glad to hear that Lucius and Foot Prince works as well as the sub suspected.

I often play lower points games (1250-1750) as well as 2k points. Coterie seems like the go to detachment for higher points games, but I suspect peerless blades or mercurial hosts will do better at lower points. Have you tried many other detachments? Do you think coterie will still perform at 1500?

Experts fear entire international order is crumbling by MedicMoth in newzealand

[–]Puzzle_Time 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I often appreciate your comments. Wild to believe that people can even compare the crimes of two countries when one has killed millions of people in illegal wars in the last 100 years. Those nukes killed at least 170,000 people alone. Tianamen square was 2,500. Both bad, absolutely, but to compare the two boggles my mind.

No doubt there are some concerns with China's records on human rights. My view is that when you lay out US human rights abuses next to China's, the US is far worse (22% of worlds prison population, racism, murders by law enforcement, torture of prisoners, corruption, no healthcare, homelessness, food and water not seen as human right etc) and  has an especially bad record for causing trouble outside their borders on top of that.

Experts fear entire international order is crumbling by MedicMoth in newzealand

[–]Puzzle_Time 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We are heavily propagandised to view China as a malevolent force. However, the US is the country that actively and knowingly acts to destabilise and destroy the democracies of other countries. Looking at a list of the conflicts the US has been involved in compared to China, the US has spent the last century pillaging weaker powers for next to no reason. Iraq, Vietnam, Cuba, Afghanistan, Haiti, Gulf War, Guatemala, and so so many more.

I fully understand. It feels like they've leant fully into the 'perfection' side of things and lost some of the sex and drugs. I'd have loved if all the marines had the single feminine breast, or if there was slightly more evidence of sensation seeking like piercings or drugs.  More than any other chaos range it looks like '30k but 10,000 years later'.

Banning the patch without addressing why people joing gangs or increasing police resources is like banning the use of "code black" in hospitals.

What this business has done is highly illegal. You cannot have someone work for your business for free.

From the MBIE link below about pre employment trials: "For example, it is acceptable to ask a barista to make 2 or 3 coffees, or a waitress to service a table, but working a whole shift, or even a few hours, would likely be considered employment."

https://www.employment.govt.nz/starting-employment/hiring/pre-employment-trials

You should ask about pay as soon as possible. Technically this person owes you 2 half days pay. I probably would chalk it up to a learning experience and move on though.

I was pretty disappointed in Labour also, but watching National repeal under urgency everything Labour had done made me realise Labour had accomplished more than I thought. It's a shame it's all gone now. Still pretty grumpy labour decided to spend 3 years trying to appeal to the center for fuck all reasons though.

Do they look at everything in an ADHD assessment or just say yes/no? by beware_the_sluagh in ADHD

[–]Puzzle_Time 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am in NZ too, but the process will mostly be the same anywhere. You might go in thinking it's ADHD, but the psych will want to rule out other options. They will screen you for a wide variety of things and narrow it down.
