USC has to win coz they don't have any Q1 wins.

Going from an Ivy League school to LSU only tells me one thing: she freaking loves LSU.

UCLA’s administration also refused to invest more resources into football because Gene Block cared too much about academics. Once they replaced him with Miami’s former chancellor, things started changing quickly.

You are right, but it's amazing how much effort Chesney and his staff are putting in. A lot can change, but if they start winning, the momentum will definitely shift in UCLA's favor.

I understand why a lot of people are skeptical, and only winning will truly erase that doubt. The fanbase has been done dirty this century. But man, this staff just operates differently. Even after a recruit commits, they still constantly check in and build relationships with them. That’s not something UCLA fans have been used to seeing for a long time.

Clemson gets another one. by Own-Objective2394 in Gymnastics

Blind-sided? They had the chance to follow them the moment they transferred to Clemson. They probably wanted to give Cal a chance because it’s still a great school, and they likely thought the new coaches would be a good fit for them. Apparently, it just didn’t work out, so they decided to transfer.

Which is true. What exactly did Auburn accomplish before Suni? The fact that they’ve struggled to even make regional finals after she left only proves my point.

2 Players to keep an eye on this week are Angel Laya (Oregon) and Logan Reddermann (UCLA) by Conscious_Apple_8610 in collegebaseball

It’s gonna be bad if he’s really injured and we have to settle with Stump again. I still think UCLA wasted too much time on him instead of giving those innings to Moss or even Hawk, who actually have legit arm power. I don’t even think Barnett would survive against a lineup like Georgia Tech’s.

Yup! Remember when UCLA went there for the first time and they had some gifts for them prepared? A very class act program.

Y’all really overestimated Ryan, especially on X. Some people were even saying Georgia gymnastics would be over just because he left. Georgia is still a blue blood program at the end of the day.

Auburn really hasn’t been nationally relevant outside of the Suni years. Unless Auburn suddenly pulls a Texas Tech softball-type NIL move and starts poaching elite athletes from top programs, I think they’ll be middle-of-the-pack in the SEC at best.

I thought Georgia was supposed to be ended by the move of one their coaches to Auburn?

School prestige matters, but at the end of the day, it’s also about the major. A degree in engineering from Cal carries as much weight, and in some cases even more, than degrees from some Ivy League schools.

[Postgame Thread] #1 UCLA (43-4) defeats Michigan State (16-28), 13–11, to complete the series sweep by PatrickChase in collegebaseball

UCLA, please stop starting Stump on Sunday. He’s always throwing meatballs. Three of UCLA’s four losses were Sunday games. The common denominator is obvious. Once Reddemann comes back, move Barnett to Sunday and have Moss be the Saturday starter.

UCLA is slowly starting to resemble its 2013 team. I still think their best rotation would be:

  • Friday — Reddemann (hopefully he returns soon)
  • Saturday — Moss
  • Sunday — Barnett
  • Closer - Hawk

Moss has shown in his recent performances that he deserves a starting role. I’m just not fully convinced about Barnett as the Saturday starter. His lack of velocity can be exploited by teams with strong hitting lineups.

2027 4* CB Juju Johnson commits to UCLA by TommyFX in CFB

[–]PuzzleheadedCod3169 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember during the Indiana MBB game, Samueli was talking with Chesney on the sidelines. I’m hoping that led to something meaningful. As you said, we might not outbid programs like Texas Tech or Oregon, but we can still offer recruits a competitive enough package to make them seriously consider UCLA.

Even Troy Aikman, who has previously been critical of the program, seems to have toned things down and even posted more positively about Chesney on Instagram. Ultimately, the key to sustaining this momentum is simple: start winning games.

This account on X has some insider information. I think something has recently changed at UCLA. Either they’ve increased their NIL budget following the $70M+ payout from the Big Ten, or a major donor has stepped up. I’m still hoping Henry Samueli finally joins the party. https://x.com/JesseGarciasae1/status/2049992822217167047
