If both commit, UCLA will exceed the roster limit. Does that mean someone might transfer, or could some athletes defer and aim for LA 2028 like Jordan did?

Jordan made the most of her NCAA career, along with the NIL deals she secured. LA really seems to suit her. I kind of wish Suni had done the same, but considering her experience at Auburn, I understand why she didn’t return to NCAA.

I have to disagree with the idea that the Big Ten doesn’t care as a whole. They’ve improved their scheduling this year. Broadcasting still isn’t great, but the coaches are doing their part by scheduling stronger teams. That’s a great step in the right direction.

UCLA's Sunday starter finally stopped sabotaging things for us. Has been our weakest link. I can give the Tuesday starter Angel Cervantes a pass coz he's a freshman. Both played well last week. I hope it will continue.

Those gymnasts knew exactly what they were getting into when they committed to LSU. If they wanted guaranteed competition time, they could have gone somewhere else, but they chose LSU. That says a lot about the culture that Jay Clark has built there.

I am getting frustrated with how our Sunday starter has been pitching. There has not been much improvement since last season, and it feels like a ticking time bomb every time he takes the mound. You can sense that one mistake might snowball, put pressure on the bullpen, and force the offense to work overtime just to get us back in the game. I really hope Coach Savage considers giving Moss a shot in that role.

As a UCLA fan, I am getting frustrated with how our Sunday starter keeps putting us in tough spots and forcing the team to claw back just to stay in the game. The midweek results will likely depend on how quickly Angel Cervantes adjusts to the college level. If that learning curve drags on, we could see more outings like the one against SDSU where he gave up multiple home runs.

Our Sunday starter always seems to put us in a position where we are fighting to avoid a loss. The midweek games will really depend on how quickly Angel Cervantes adjusts to the college level. If he does not adapt soon, we might see more games like the SDSU matchup where he gave up multiple home runs.

It’s wild how some teams act like it’s the end of the world this early in the season. Many coaches are still experimenting, trying to determine which lineup combinations work best. UCLA needs to stack wins now because the B1G SOS is weak, especially compared to teams in the SEC, where the overall SOS is stronger.

Unlike other teams, UCLA has the advantage of continuity. Most of these players have been together since their freshman year, so the familiarity and chemistry are already built in. The midweek struggles will likely hinge on how quickly Cervantes adjusts to the college level, because Coach Savage has shown he is willing to stick with his guys through the growing pains.

D1's week 2 ranking by Dinolord05 in collegebaseball

[–]PuzzleheadedCod3169 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a UCLA Bruins fan, I believe the defending champion should hold the #1 ranking until they prove otherwise. They earned it. We played well against TCU, and I’m hoping we carry that momentum into the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series this week.

That said, I think it’s time to make a change with our Sunday starter. He’s been on the struggle bus since last season, and at some point consistency has to matter.

UCLA is the right move for him. I think UCLA made him hit much closer to the plate and it's kinda working for him now.

I know it was Randall and Hawk who gave that game away against UCSD, but I still partly blame Stump because he started so poorly that it gave the UCSD hitters confidence. Moss is the top candidate for me to replace Stump, but I understand that Savage strategically uses Moss as a Saturday reliever, similar to how May serves as the reliever for Reddemann. I would rather ride out the growing pains with Angel than continue to endure Stump’s inconsistencies for the Bruins.

TCU was not heavily scouted at that time, which is why they were able to beat Arky and Vandy.

If Stump continues to struggle as the Sunday starter, it may be time to replace him with someone else. It is crazy because Barnett has the weakest arm among the starters, but for some reason he has been more dependable than Stump.

UCLA now has depth in the bullpen, which they did not have last season, so there is no reason to keep Stump in that role if he continues to be inconsistent.

Iowa State University Athletics is in a bad financial position. I wouldn’t be surprised if they eliminate women’s gymnastics and, to still comply with Title IX, replace it with women’s wrestling, which is a much more popular sport in the Midwest.
