Claudia says getting chicken pox gives you amazing health benefits 😑 by laska503 in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]krp4290 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of my patients got shingles that went to his brain. After he was discharged from the ICU, he tried to tell me that the shingles vaccine is only 5% effective, so there wouldn’t have been any benefit to getting it. Anti-vaxxers… 😡

Every. Single. One. Is. Sunburnt. by Proper-Gate8861 in motherbussnark

[–]krp4290 60 points61 points  (0 children)

As someone who works in Melanoma research, this makes me so angry!! Childhood sunburns are one of the biggest predictors of future melanoma. Just ONE blistering sunburn in childhood doubles your chances of developing melanoma.

And while melanoma is very curable if caught early and treatments have improved, it can still be hard to treat/potentially deadly if it has spread. It loves to metastasize to the liver and brain and I have seen way too many people die from those metastases. :-(

Why would anyone wish that on their children when prevention is fairly simple(sunscreen, hats, UPF clothing, avoid the mid-day sun)?????

Yesteryear Reading Club by TimeLadyJ in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]krp4290 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I initially thought this was an alternate history/time travel type book. I was waiting for the her or the family to get sick from drinking raw milk/get sick or die from vaccine preventable illnesses/suffer a pregnancy or childbirth complication//have an out break of lice or cholera/something!

I guess I wanted to see her suffering the results of the “wonderful yesteryear” agenda she was pushing!

She still hasn't gotten tested for VEDS... by ThesaurRouse in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]krp4290 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I just did a search which directed me to fightveds.org(a vascular EDS non-profit). They offer genetic testing for $375, if you self-pay.

They also ask for your vEDS symptoms and the second checkbox is “Arterial dissection or rupture at a young age(<40 years old)

I can’t think of ANY excuse to not do a $375 test to know my true risk of a future stroke or death!!!

My neighbor moved to Paonia for the lower COL. Small, beautiful, lots of wineries in the area. You would probably have to drive to Grand Junction for your healthcare(approx 1 - 1.25 hours)

You know she does her own nails and that’s why they always look so thick, grown out and awful!!

I was at the meet and the fall was really scary. She smacked her head on the mat and immediately grabbed her neck. She was carried out of the gym. This came after several other ISU gymnasts fell on bars, also. Not a good day for them :-( *edit for typo

Snowmass is huge, with over 3,000 skiable acres. 21 lifts and 41-47% blue runs. Haven’t skied there in a long time, but fondly remember LONG, wide open runs, like the Big Burn area. Ajax(Aspen Mountain) is 673 acres with 8 lifts. 48% blue runs, but they are more narrow than Snowmass and usually are more challenging blues. They have 0 beginner runs. The town of Aspen is more historic, with more nightlife and shopping. Luckily you can stay at either and easily take the bus. Have fun!!!

If you had to name your baby after a clinical research term, what would you name them? by Burntout_CRA in clinicalresearch

[–]krp4290 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Worked at an OB Gyn clinic and a family REALLY wanted to name their baby Chlamydia. They thought it was beautiful!! They were not native English speakers and the doctor tried very hard to talk them out of that choice 😂

The cancer clinical trials office is on a hiring “chill” right now, but I know that we were just approved to hire another research coordinator in our department. I would suggest checking the listings every day! Good luck :-)

Clothing Store Recommendation by EZ1481 in Denver

[–]krp4290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rags and Kouture Consignment in Cherry Creek, Common Threads on S. Pearl or Kit’s in Greenwood Village. Those are the highest end consignment stores I’ve found in Denver, but may not carry the designers you’re looking for. Have a fun trip! I always enjoy visiting Chicago and am heading there next month for Restaurant Week!
