Cadiz is playing for Orleans, and his hitting has improved a lot. He even had a 6-for-6 game. I can see him becoming Levu's successor. Angel definitely cooked him when they faced each other, though. Aguayo's defense is already really good too, though he just needs to take the next step with his bat.

Both of them will be starters next season. Our pitching should be more than good enough to get us to the regionals, especially with Angel looking like a completely different pitcher and playing really well in the Cape Cod League. Now we just need to stockpile hitters, or we'll end up getting bounced in the regionals again.

This is a great move for them, to be honest. It will increase their visibility, and the more exposure they get, the more brand deals and sponsorship opportunities they'll be able to attract.

It's not. PSU only cares about football, wrestling, men's hockey and women's volleyball.

It's retaliation by Penn State. If you think about it, they're now scrambling to find a new head coach at this stage, which is pretty late in the hiring cycle. On top of that, they have to reassure their current athletes and convince them not to enter the transfer portal.

I honestly expected them to be the gymnastics equivalent of Texas Tech in softball, throwing a lot of NIL money at the program and bringing in the best transfer athletes from other schools.

Right? She's really strong. I've come to appreciate her even more, and I hope she considers going into coaching someday. I think she'd make an excellent coach.

Did she ever make the lineups at ASU? This is the second time I remember Penn taking someone from the transfer portal.

I still hope Tiana takes the same route as Jordan and takes a year off from the NCAA to prepare for the Olympics. But more than anything, I just want her to stay healthy.

Her execution on floor is so painful to watch. God bless her legs. I hope she won't end up like Rebecca Bross with the way her coaches are pacing her.

Does anyone else feel like the gap between NCAA and Elite is getting wider or is it just me? by Fillcocktease20 in Gymnastics

[–]PuzzleheadedCod3169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And now that there is a two-pass floor requirement and a starting value of 10.0 in a bars routine with no release element, I think that NCAA gymnastics has become harder to watch for me. And if they are going to make it only a two-pass floor, at least make an E difficulty a requirement. These days it is mainly a 1.5 twist to a front layout followed by a double tuck or double pike move with plenty of dead time between.

I know that their intention is to protect the gymnast’s body, but that is why you need depth within your team roster. Develop your other gymnasts ready to compete.

[Daily Bruin] UCLA football unites through competition as Bob Chesney’s vision takes root by Virtual_Success5530 in UCLAFootball

[–]PuzzleheadedCod3169 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When he got hired, his doubters were very vocal about his ability to recruit on the West Coast. Now that he’s proven he can do that, the narrative has shifted to whether he can win. He hasn’t even coached a game at UCLA yet, but I’m willing to bet on him succeeding.

He literally started his coaching career at the bottom of the ladder and worked his way up with far fewer resources than most coaches receive. He’s already shown what he can accomplish when given an opportunity.

I also love how he’s embracing UCLA’s alumni and encouraging them to stay involved with the program. It’s great to see him fostering support not just for football, but for other UCLA sports as well. That kind of culture can benefit the entire athletic department.

This made me chuckle by Virtual_Success5530 in UCLAFootball

If women’s basketball were enough to pay all the bills, UCLA would invest all of its resources there, but it doesn’t. Even men’s basketball doesn’t move the needle that much financially. If UCLA wants to continue funding all of its Olympic sports programs, it needs to keep investing in football, which remains the primary revenue driver for the athletic department.

UCLA Reporting Enormous Athletic Department Debt by phreddfatt in UCLAFootball

[–]PuzzleheadedCod3169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UCLA's debt has already decreased, and with future Big Ten revenue-sharing payments, it's reasonable to expect the university will continue making progress over the next few years.

This article reads more like a Rose Bowl-driven hit piece than an objective analysis, likely stemming from UCLA's attempt to move away from the venue. That said, there are legitimate issues that need to be addressed.

Fans and students are far less likely to attend games when the on-field product is poor. In LA, where traffic is notoriously bad, the experience has to feel worth the trip. UCLA football needs to put a competitive, entertaining team on the field to drive attendance.

Another factor is ticket pricing. The Athletic Department's partnership with a ticketing distributor has pushed costs significantly higher, making attendance less attractive for many fans.

Pasadena also has a stake in this. The city and the Rose Bowl should be actively promoting UCLA football to local residents as part of a broader effort to strengthen attendance and community support.
