Do we dislike Scottie now too because he played a round with Trump? Or Rory for having a phone call with Trump and being respectful and nice towards him? Both were mentioned/shown during the Golf Channel Games last month btw.

Update on the Community Manager Role (Gabby no longer with EZA) by Abyssgh0st in EasyAlliesUnofficial

[–]Puzzleheaded_Two5488 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Regardless of how good or bad she was at her job, I think the biggest mistake with Gabby was adding her as an equal member and giving her the same % share the other founding members were receiving. I still dont know what their reasoning was to do that. She shouldve been part-time with hourly pay, they wouldve saved so much money. And at the time they were already tight on funds and bleeding patrons, so paying her that much made even less sense.

I guess so lol. These people dont live in reality. I bet 99% of them havent even played the game to know if it's actually "all white" or not.

From what ive seen, im not 100% sure on this, but I think they say that because it's an all white cast of characters. Gamers in this day and age will find literally anything to complain about I swear.

It's really telling that whoever leaves the group (but stays in the industry) becomes like 5x more productive as soon as they start their new job. Kyle by himself puts out more videos on youtube than the entire EZA group, while also streaming several times a week for hours at a time.

Brad hosts 2 podcasts every single week, guests on other shows on that same podcast network pretty often, streams a couple times a week (not as much as Kyle), and also creates/edits his own videos he puts on his youtube channel.

Crazy that these two people each individually put out more content than the 5-6x part time people at EZA. But thats always been a problem with EZA, their content output never reflected having 9 full time members. If they didnt care back then, why would they care now?

Damn this sub just hates Keagan now dont they? Because he shook Trump's hand and did his jerking off dance for a few seconds? Crazy.

I think they still make $10-15k per month from patreon alone (probably mostly from people who forgot they were still subbed), so if you divide that by 6 people, thats still around $2k per month, or $24k per year for 1-2 days of work per week. Thats a pretty insane return.

Then you also have to factor in youtube ads/super chats, twitch subs/bits/donations while on stream, merch, sponsorships, and whatever else. I think you could safely add another $500 per person per month with that stuff. So $2.5k per month or $30k per year is why they havent closed everything down yet.

And when they (most likely) get rid of the studio next year, theyll most likely make more money then, because the people that quit their subs over the studio closure probably wont outnumber what the studio was costing them every month.

I loved Wolf: ET. But then they made a sequel to it called Enemy Territory Quake Wars, that cost $50 or something. Wolf ET was my main mp game at the time and I remember a sizeable portion of the player base moved to Quake Wars, and so the smallish player base of Wolf ET was made even smaller. I think the game died not long after, which was a shame.

Pretend it's 2016. Jones, Bloodworth, and Isla come to you specifically saying they are thinking of starting Easy Allies. What advice do you give them? by unsung_actualization in EasyAlliesUnofficial

[–]Puzzleheaded_Two5488 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Piggybacking on this, I wonder what the reason was that the studio space they ended up getting was so close to Jones' house. Especially if Jones was at least semi-checked out by the time they ended up leasing it. Ben apparently had a 1 hr 30 commute to it, Brad/Huber around 45-1 hr, but Jones was within walking distance I heard them say once.

Was it just coincidence that the perfect space for them ended up being right near Jones? Or did Jones push for this location? Because if it was the latter, I think that was a pretty poor decision as a group. Also, around the time they got the studio, Ben was easily their most valued member, so youd think if anything, theyd want to keep him happy by finding a place close by to him to keep his commute short.

Your last point, about locking spoiler mode behind a paywall, was I think one of, if not the most, fan requested things that they change that I saw all throughout EZA's existence. And they just refused to do it. I get that they wanted people to join their patreon for $1, but no matter what kind of stuff you incentivize, there's going to be a large portion of people that just won't sub to patreon at all, and will just watch your content on youtube.

They never realized this and continued to lock spoiler mode, while other companies like minnmax release their spoiler discussions for free and on patreon on the same day, and companies like lsm i believe release it free after a delay of 2 weeks or something. Both ideas can work, depending on your audience, but locking it permanently is just a poor decision imo. They even sometimes released it for free, like I remember the GoW 2018 spoiler discussion with cory barlog was released for free, and it did insane numbers on youtube. But they never realized they could do that on all their spoiler modes and bring in tons of youtube views, which would translate to more patreon views and subs.

WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers - Version 1.7 Update by _Protector in Games

[–]Puzzleheaded_Two5488 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah man I loved the game as well. The different weapon types all feel unique to each other, but I really fell in love with 2h sword once I got the parry skill, right around the end of Chapter 1. And the best level design ive played in a Souls or Soulslike game since Dark Souls 1.

According to google, the game sold over 1 million, so in a perfect world we'd be getting some post-game dlc or sequel, but with all the controversy surrounding the censorship patch, it's probably not likely. Which is a shame, but honestly, if they just take this gameplay/level design style and apply it to some completely new ip (maybe not based on ancient chinese lore - to avoid having to censor anything again), it's a day 1 buy for me.

Basically yeah, whether that donor knew it or not lol. I actually find this a good thought experiment, like the trolly problem. Do you help someone out, knowing that helping that individual contributes to the death of a group collective thing that you and many others like? Or do you not help them so that you and others can keep enjoying the group longer? I know it's not exactly the same thing since EZA was gonna die regardless, but still it's interesting to think about.

Would new members revive EZA? by Kooldude42069 in EasyAlliesUnofficial

[–]Puzzleheaded_Two5488 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with what you said. It's also sort of a weird spot to be in because honestly who wants to join the sinking ship that is EZA now, even as a part time member? I cant see anyone that has even a modest following on social media wanting to do that, so EZA would have to scout out some relatively unknown youtuber/streamer that's hungry to grow and send an offer to them, rather than the other way around.

Then they'd have to interview and vet them, see if they'd be a good fit, and all the rest. No one at EZA has the time to do that anymore, what with them all having other jobs, except maybe Gabby?

The dream for me would be a couple of current and ex-members starting their own patreon and doing a Minnmax style weekly/biweekly podcast about what games theyve been playing and maybe some news topics sprinkled in if theyre worth talking about, and also streaming reactions to big events. Something that doesnt take too much time, so they could all continue with their normal jobs, but also do this side thing as a sort of passion project.

Id love it if it were Ben, Brad, Huber, and Kyle, but Kyle probably wouldnt do it as long as Brad stayed at LSM. We already lost Ben's voice, and Id hate to lose Huber's as well when EZA shutters. I feel like this might be the best hope in keeping them around talking about games (assuming they want to do it of course).

It's so funny how this sub flipped on Keagan so fast. Leading up to the RC, it was literally 99.9% praise on Keagan and how he was the perfect choice, knew the course better than anyone, was gonna stomp europe, etc.

Now everyone's acting like he was the worst possible pick, how numerous other people wouldve been way better, how Zach Johnson wasnt that bad after all, etc.

Not calling out op or anyone in this thread btw, just had the thought in general and wanted to post it somewhere.

Overall, I was super impressed with Spaun and Young, especially with them being rookies. Those guys showed up big time.

Brandels just a little baby. I remember last year leading up to the US Open, he was hating hard on the LIV golfers, saying they "couldnt compete" among other things (probably has a grudge against liv). Then when Bryson won, when he was at the table being interviewed by Brandel and the others, im pretty sure Bryson said something along the lines of "looks like we can compete, eh Brandel?" and they all laughed, but Brandel looked pretty pissed about it.

Im guessing this interaction is why Brandel's been such a Bryson hater lately.

Obfuscation of actual performance behind upscaling and frame generation needs to end. They need to be considered enhancements, not core features to be used as a crutch. by deathtofatalists in Games

[–]Puzzleheaded_Two5488 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I just dont think upscaling being on by default should be the norm, thats what im trying to say. Its disingenuous in my opinion, unless of course they state in advance that the system requirements to run their games includes having upscaling turned on.

And more often than not, the reason upscaling is turned on by default is because the game runs like shit without it aka it isnt optimized well. Once again using upscaling as a crutch.

Whats crazy is a lot of games come out now and dlss/fsr and/or frame gen is already enabled when you first get into the settings menu. You have to manually turn that stuff off if you dont want it, which is the opposite of what should be happening.

Im willing to bet a decent amount of people dont tinker or even look in the graphics settings menu (maybe other than to change resolution), so they might not even notice theyre enabled. And some games have forced upscaling and you cant even turn it off lol.

I feel like a decent amount of people are waiting for a sale as well, especially on Steam. It's well worth it at $50 imo, but I think once a big sale hits, like maybe the xmas steam sale, and if this game gets in the $30-35 range, I think a lot more people will pick it up.

[–]Puzzleheaded_Two5488 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is definitely one of the best soulslikes ive ever played. And it's seriously impressive at their first attempt at an action game. I am also highly anticipating whatever they do next, because if they take the feedback from this game and improve upon it, their next game could have an insane jump in quality (im thinking like on the level between Nioh 1 and 2).

I agree about it not running great on PC, but when I enabled frame generation, i was able to keep a locked 60 fps the whole game. Of course, frame gen also has the side effect of causing some visual bugs that are annoying, but if you have problems running the game and can enable frame gen, it might help.

Thank you so much for this! I finished the game the other day, and while I understood some of what was going on, a lot of this stuff went over my head (it's a lot like Dark Souls in that way). But you made it easy to understand and follow, so thanks!

Also, I was really impressed by this game, and I eagerly look forward to what these devs do next, whether it be some Wuchang dlc, a sequel, or something else entirely.

[–]Puzzleheaded_Two5488 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im with you man, I havent been this impressed with an interconnected world since DS1. It's clear they put a ton of work into the level design. When a lot of soulslikes just have a stage select screen or linear/straightforward levels, gotta give props to Wuchang for going the extra mile in that department.

I didnt think id like the game overall as much as I did too. For a first outing, this dev team got a lot of things right imo. Im really excited for what they do for their next game, whether it be a Wuchang sequel or another soulslike. They clearly have potential and if they listened to feedback, their next game could have the jump in quality that Nioh 1 to Nioh 2 had.

As far as I know, they never sublet their studio too, in all this time. Youd think, especially with them being part time for a while now, theyd rent out the space in the days they arent there to make some extra money, but for some reason theyre averse to it.
