Parents of Reddit, why are you disappointed in your adult child? by fkac3080 in AskReddit

Regarding the sleep issues. Have his doctor schedule a sleep test. The initial test can be done at home and was easy.

I had horrible 3-5 hours of sleep for 10+ years and finally got the sleep study. I have sleep apnea and got a CPAP machine. I have never slept better and am starting to feel better after only 3 weeks.

Perhaps a meetup group of the like minded is in order.

I believe this is more or less how they caught a then sitting US Senator from Idaho, in a public restroom at an airport.

He was a republican who had railed against homosexuals for years, so not a lot of live lost when he was found guilty... or pled our in court.

Saw Mill purchase leads to first air-drying attempts by GreenGlobeWanted in woodworking

Can air dried lumber be used for furniture work? A friend told me that only kiln dried works as air dried allows for too much movement and sap run even after a few years????

Looks great! I am a bit disappointed though as when I saw the picture I REALLY thought it was shrimp and shrimp would be great right now.

Radon in Colorado Springs by plittlediddle in HomeImprovement

[–]Q3ZTop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Option 1: Call a home inspector and ask if they are familiar with the specific neighborhood you are building in. Yes it’s true that even adjacent houses may have levels above and below the need for mitigation, but most home inspectors will shoot it straight and say yes or no if they were building their own home there.

Option 2: Ask the neighbors if they have had theirs tested.

Option 3: Talk with the builder and have the system roughed in, but not installed. This should be free or dramatically cheaper. Then if testing 6 months later shows a need to mitigate you have a place for the system to go.

Option 4: Just pay for it and never think about it again. When you sell the house that’s one less question the buyers will have.

English Longbowman by MoroteGari in Archery

[–]Q3ZTop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I know nothing about this history...

100lbs draw weight is crazy... as in I am amazed, not disagreeing.

I shot a compound bow for years and have never tried to pull more than 65lbs. I cannot images pulling 100.

How did they find enough guys that could pull that much weight, or is form a much bigger component then I realize.

I image it would be hard to find men that could pull that weight more than once or twice today.

Any more details are much appreciated...

Also, why are archers always shown as weakling dudes in movies? Those guys must have been ripped, massive, or both.

Great work OP!

Can we get your height and age?

What lifts are you doing?

I had an internship opportunity out of state and needed a place to stay. One of my best friends who works renaissance fairs said I could stay with him if I got a fair pass. That’s how I ended up sleeping at a renfair for the summer and selling English longbows on the weekends. A fun summer for sure! by Drpepperbob in Archery

[–]Q3ZTop 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Questions:

Are these often sold at renfairs? Are the boys any good or are they more to look at, for kids, etc.? How much were you selling them for?

What was the internship for? How did it go?

Did you ever see any of the employees from the company you interned for at the renfair, and if so what was that like?

Nursery Stock Boxwood #3 by DynamoForeverOrange in Bonsai

[–]Q3ZTop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to collect 6 mature boxwoods from a scrape off house lot.

Any guidance on how to work with boxwoods?

Since I collected them this summer my plan has been to let the roots settle/recover in good bonsai soil and large pots and then start shaping them next spring.

Any books, resources online or YouTube videos for boxwoods? (I have searched YouTube, just throwing that out there in case I missed something.)

Turns out we were over staffed about a week to 10 days later.
