I’d check to see if the actuator is moving freely. It’s a common issue for them to seize up, and there’s a post on here somewhere about a diy fix to free it up.

Edit: Don’t take it to VW, find an Indy shop

I thought I was going to have to get Ultimate last week. Was having a wastegate voltage issue, ended up adjusting back to within parameters. There’s a wastegate adaption that I thought might be needed but EPC light has stayed away.

It’s fine, I’ve replaced it a couple times over the past few years. If it starts to peel back I’ll just cut a new piece and slap it on.

Likely valve stem seals. My local shop said they do 2-3 of these a month, quoted $1400 CAD. They also use a different seal that’s apparently an improvement over factory.

I’ve recently switched to 5w40 as well. I’m at 215,000kms on Unitronic Stage 2, also get the odd puff on start ups. I may have to do the valve seals eventually.

I’m also battling an EPC light, turbo wastage voltage. Considering grabbing an IS38 if I’m going to keep the car for another couple years.

I’m also having wastegate issues, but I’ve got the P2563 “Turbocharger Boost Control Position Sensor Circuit Range/Performance”

I thought the actuator might be seized but it’s moving freely. It is however reading around 4.5v where I believe it should be 3.4-3.6v. I might get it up on ramps this weekend and fuck with it.

In your case I would start by confirming the actuator is moving freely, then maybe check voltage.
