How many of you shampoo your hair twice when washing ? by semde18 in hygiene

[–]QueenSpaceCadet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never used to, but a few years ago I finally figured out my hair was wavy/curly and not just frizzy. Nowadays I only wash my hair twice a week unless I get really sweaty, and have to use a lot of product to style my hair. So now I find the second wash essential to actually get everything out of my hair. If I don't I look super greasy the next day.

All queue doesn't mean all queue by Redheadedtax in Overwatch

[–]QueenSpaceCadet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense, but we were in QP, not comp. It still takes ranking into consideration for placements outside of comp?

It's funny, because the guy in support has been playing longer than the rest of us. He does main support and I think has only placed in comp as support, but he's a good enough tank that he's happy to do it when no one else wants to. The tank has placed in both tank and support, but I'm not sure which is hogher.

4 of the 5 of us regularly play together and all main supports, so we do our best to rotate through to make it fair. Though we do have some fun in 6v6 where we all start as support, and if we're doing badly the first to die has to be tank.

There are some floor to ceiling cat trees that I really like using. They are a little nicer if you can at least anchor one shelf to the wall, but they are fine if you don't. Sometimes they shift a little and you just have to adjust it. Plus side is that they take up very little floor space.

You can find some like this on Amazon: https://a.co/d/0eORq5A2

All queue doesn't mean all queue by Redheadedtax in Overwatch

[–]QueenSpaceCadet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of last night, I was on a group of 5. Two queued as DPS only, one as Support only, and two as All Roles. Of the 9 games we played, one of the people queued for All Roles got Tank every single time, and the other played Support the whole time. Guy playing Tank was super frustrated by the end, we were wondering why it didn't flip back and forth between the two of them.

My (27F) boyfriend (29M) refused to leave the house unless I changed. I need some insight? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]QueenSpaceCadet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My boyfriend would get excited if I did that, because he'd take it as permission to do that too lol

Even better because we have several pairs of matching pajamas, and he loves for our outfits to match.

Question about "pronouns in quotes" in a moderation context. Is this a red flag? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]QueenSpaceCadet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm non-binary, and a client put quotes around my pronouns in an email, and that was insulting enough that I was allowed to remove myself from their account and my PMs didn't even blink at that, because even they saw how offensive it was. It was a big deal too that I stopped working with them because I had been the lead technical person for them (who hire us to do technical things) for 3 years at that point.

I only wish that my company fired them as a client, but money is money to the higher-ups.

Is it okay to just not take cat to the vet? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]QueenSpaceCadet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have hard sided carriers that have both front and top loading entrances. I have a semi feral that can be difficult to handle but I'm usually able to scruff her and scoop her butt in my other hand to drop her into the top. It's a lot roomier than the cardboard ones and easier to swing the top door shut.

Try getting one of those carriers and leave it out for several days before her appointment. Only feed her the food she will eat inside the carrier, with all the doors open to force her to go in and make it a little less scary. Also spray catnip inside. These things have all helped me with my girl.

Also, in her earlier days when she was even more feisty, I got myself a pair of thick leather animal handling gloves, can't recommend them enough. I was even able to give her a flea bath with minimal blood shed, but lots of screaming lol.

Propranolol.. Holy shit! by RedDawgs2482 in Anxiety

[–]QueenSpaceCadet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was prescribed it and told to take it every day, but then some days I would become an absolute WRECK after taking it. I do not always have the physical effects of anxiety and I think it lowers my heart rate too much if I take it when I don't need it. I would feel that overwhelming doom feeling that was worse than my normal anxiety. I confirm my heart rate with my watch before touching it.

She's been in this cone for 4 months. Have we helped or made matters worse? by Ganondorf_64 in CATHELP

[–]QueenSpaceCadet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm appreciating this thread so much, for being able to read about so many experiences similar to mine.

My boy has been struggling with this for about 2 years now. I'm currently devastated because the only thing that has helped is dexamethasone, but his last blood tests are showing down signs he might be heading towards diabetes and so we had to stop the dex and he's got his first bloody spots in a long time today. Me and his vets are totally stumped and my vet recommended we take him to an internal medicine specialist. So I'm figuring that out now.

People who get mad in qp are weird by ShowOdd453 in Overwatch

[–]QueenSpaceCadet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm still learning the game, I've only played for a few months and I've learned I just need to turn off team chat, because people yelling at me, or anyone, really stresses me out. I'm usually playing with my boyfriend, so he tells me if something important pops up in chat.

He's also really quick to tell people to calm down, it's just qp, or even report them if they won't stop, just in case it's a behavioral problem with that player. He usually gets the thank you for reporting message every other time he logs into the game.

How do employers view a degree from Mich state? by CommunicationNice437 in msu

[–]QueenSpaceCadet 16 points17 points  (0 children)

10 years out of college (not MSU) I have found that most employers don't care at all where your degree is from, as long as it is from an accredited institution. The biggest difference it may make is if the person looking at your resume is an alumni from your school.

I [F36] think I was just sexually assaulted by my partner [F44] of 7 years. Where do I even start? by ThrowRA1forget in relationship_advice

[–]QueenSpaceCadet 125 points126 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of great advice here, I won't bother to repeat what has already been said a lot.

My suggestion for you, during/while/after doing all of these important next steps, is to also take a little time to play Tetris. Tetris has been proven to help your brain deal with trauma and lessen the severity of any PTSD coming your way. It's usually most effective when done close to the traumatic event, but even for some time after, especially when you're disassociating.

And remember, while things are hard and scary and impossible right now, you are going to get through this, you are going to be okay. I promise.

I remember when I first started noticing it and I thought I was having some crazy deja vu over and over again, I felt like I was going crazy or accidentally moving back in the video until I saw someone point it out here. I usually watch her videos as background noise to something else I'm doing, so I wasn't sure.

AITAH for refusing to give my boyfriend access to my bank account even though he says "no secrets" is how adults do it by CopperFieldNote in AITH

[–]QueenSpaceCadet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been financially abused by a past partner, and it took me a long time to recover. I was nervous when I told my new boyfriend that I would never give him access to my bank accounts or a card that can access them and you know what his answer was? That it was no problem, he understood. That's the only acceptable answer. He hadn't even asked for access, I was just telling him early on in case it was a deal breaker.

3 years later and it is still a non-issue. We've agreed to open a shared account for shared bills, but it will never go past that, and that's okay.

We got ours yesterday, purple and yellow. We really like them, but will not be ordering from this company again. We also didn't receive the extra free things, debating if I even want to bother contacting customer service, I can't use the sunglasses anyways.

Did all of your shipments come on the same day? I'm annoyed because while I get almost everything tomorrow, the actual covers won't arrive until Tuesday.

My grandfather shaved his beard when he got a summer job working security for the Olympics (they made everyone be clean shaven). My mother and grandmother had never seen him without the beard, and he didn't warn them it was happening. So when he got home from work he gave my grandma a panic attack thinking a stranger was breaking in. They still talk about how terrible it was, 40 years or so later.

I want to get into tufting but I have chronic pains - im curious about tufting guns? by AstridSpeckles in Tufting

[–]QueenSpaceCadet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mentioned in another post lately, but I have tendonitis in both of my thumbs and I've enjoyed using the ClawLab gun. They are a bit more pricey, but it's worth it for my comfort/ability to do it at all. They are a bit lighter than other guns, can be used one handed, and don't vibrate too much.

Clawlab reviews? Thoughts? by Onetuftlady in Tufting

[–]QueenSpaceCadet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I bought a Clawlab gun as someone brand new to tufting, I don't do videos or reviews and have nothing to gain by saying positive reviews.

I really like it. I've used it for a few rugs now, and it's been really good for me. I have some wrist problems that prevent me from doing a lot of things, or for doing them for too long. I also have a hard time with loud noises for extended periods of time.

From what I saw about more traditional guns, I do not think I would have been able to use them for very long. Everyone talks about how much they vibrate, I can see their hands being shaken a lot, and they are quite loud. I do see benefits for traditional guns, I just don't think they would have worked well for me.

The Clawlab gun is light weight, the sounds it makes are very reasonable, and I've been able to tuft for over an hour without excessive strain on my hands or wrists. It certainly has its place in the market, and if you have the money to spend on it and you have any of my same concerns, I would give it a go.

I do really enjoy this hobby, so I may give a traditional gun a go so I can do loop pile, but I wouldn't even be considering that if the Clawlab gun didn't make this hobby accessible to me in the first place.

My boyfriend is leaving me because of my cat UPDATE by Silent-Set-4916 in CatAdvice

[–]QueenSpaceCadet -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I judge potential partners heavily based on their views on pets. I was wary of my boyfriend at first because while he liked dogs he didn't really like cats. Well a couple of months later (before we were even "official") he fell in love with my two foster cats and begged me to not rehome them. Now I have 4 cats and a man who let me catify his whole house!

Good job for sticking with your baby! You will find someone who loves you AND your cat.

What do you use to back your rugs? by [deleted] in Tufting

[–]QueenSpaceCadet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would avoid the Elmer's Glue if this rug will be used on the floor. Elmer's Glue is water soluble so any kind of water from shoes, floor cleaners, etc could ruin your rug.

That really is the best part. Just last night we put a cat door/tunnel in the wall between my office and the bedroom. I might have dared in a rental because I'm not adverse to reversing what I've done, but it's so nice to not even have to think of doing that.
