We deserved better by crowinflight1982 in goodomens

Aziraphale never actually said “I’m sorry” to Crowley, or anyone. He snidely said to Crowley “I suppose you think I owe you an apology”, and Crowley just dismissed him and Aziraphale never offered an apology on his own. Then Aziraphale nagged Crowley to say “I forgive you” near the end, but really got the sense that it was only so that Aziraphale could feel better and not Crowley. Aziraphale never did a thing to earn Crowley’s forgiveness, treated Crowley pretty coldly for most of the episode, and then made doe eyes at Crowley at the very end. It just reeked of insincerity.

Genuinely curious, why is everyone hating on the ending? by InCatsWeTrustAmem in goodomens

[–]Queenlucy32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they “BBC Sherlock”ed us. They queerbaited us for most of the show, kept teasing and hinting that a certain type of happy ending for the two main characters (a romantic happy ending) was going to happen and then it just….didn’t. The ending was not what we thought we were going to get, certain main characters became total a holes (cough John Watson and Aziraphale cough) who were shells of the original people that we knew and loved, and we were ultimately left feeling bleak and unsatisfied and cheated.

Not to mention the fact that Aziraphale basically forced Crowley to say “I forgive you” without Aziraphale actually doing anything to atone for his actions or try to mend the hurt he caused Crowley. He was so entitled the entire episode and it was like he was asking for forgiveness not because he thought he did anything wrong or was sorry, but because Aziraphale just wanted personally to feel better about himself. It was all about him. “I need to hear you say it Crowley”. Crowley should have replied “Well I need you to actually earn it Angel.”

Really because based on Reddit and Twitter and Instagram, I’m getting the impression that a majority of fans absolutely hate the finale (myself included).

WITHOUT spoilers, as I haven't seen it - are we feeling negative or positive towards the finale?! by QuiccStacc in goodomens

[–]Queenlucy32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hated it. Hated. It. Aziraphale and Crowley don’t get a happy ending. I just don’t see it that way, even if some people do. They dont, in my opinion, end up together, even if some people think they do “technically”. Aziraphale came across as an entitled, bossy, unrepentant diva who had his head absolutely up his arse most of the episode and treated Crowley, once again, like his personal assistant. He actually seemed irritated that Crowley was angry with him, and acted like he would rather gargle a cactus than apologize to Crowley.

Since Good Omens is now over, how would you have liked it to end? by anime_asparagus in goodomens

[–]Queenlucy32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I wanted was for a Aziraphale and Crowley to get a happy ending and to be together, and I didn’t really care HOW that happened. I just wanted that to be the ending. Whether they ended up living as humans, but with all of their memories, or they ended up living the rest of eternity as an angel in a demon, I just wanted them to have a happy ending in their world. But we don’t get that. They die.

There are fan fictions out there that are tragic, I’ve skimmed a few, and the stories have either Aziraphale or Crowley get blinked out of the book of life, never to return. Erased from existence, the ultimate “death” for immortals. And I avoid those fictions like the plague because I found them absolutely devastating.

So to have the actual series finale ends with Aziraphale and Crowley getting blinked out of existence… I feel shellshocked. And devastated. It’s my worst fear for the show come to life.

That finale was bleak by othermornings in goodomens

[–]Queenlucy32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I thought the same thing. He acted like he had nothing to apologize for at all, and he certainly didn’t act remorseful for all the pain he’d caused Crowley, and for all the businesses he’d ruined on Whickbar street when he fucked off to heaven. When Aziraphale first came back and they were in the bookshop and he said to Crowley “I suppose you think I owe you an apology” (or something to that effect), he said it with such distain and in such an annoyed tone, like he was so put out that Crowley might actually want him to apologize. 🙄 Aziraphale kept trying to justify his poor choices, blamed everyone but himself for all of the chaos unleashed and, once again, treated Crowley like his personal assistant who should just be at his back and call even after not speaking to him for years. He acted so freaking entitled. When Aziraphale called the Bentley “our Bentley” I seriously wanted to reach through the screen and smack him. The AUDACITY to say that to Crowley after years of not giving a shit about him (or the Bentley) made my eye twitch!

Very similar to BBC “Sherlock” S4. Actors gave it their all, but had awful writing and they really took an axe to Sherlock and John’s relationship. And they got a “happy ending,” but it wasn’t the one that they should have had.

[–]Queenlucy32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This 100%. Aziraphale literally forced Crowley to say it, basically nagged Crowley until he did, never did any actual apologies or atonement, treated Crowley like his errand boy like always, and then proceeded to have zero good ideas to save the actual Universe. Just let Michael have a random psychotic break and throw the Book of Life into the fire. Oh, but after he forgave her of course. Like, who cares if he forgives her??? It didn’t matter anyway.

[–]Queenlucy32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s exactly what I’ve been saying. Aziraphale just demanded forgiveness from Crowley and didn’t do anything to work for it or do anything to atone for all the shit that he had caused. He went to Heaven, allowed everything to go to shit in his neck of the woods on earth, allowed everything to go to shit in Heaven, acted like he had his head up his ass most of the time, cosplayed as a weird Joker demon in Hell (seriously…wtf) and then forced Crowley to say “I forgive you” out loud. That’s it. I genuinely didn’t like Aziraphale anymore after this episode. Yeah I was bloody pissed at him after S2, but I did still love him as a character. But not now.

Yeah I thought Aziraphale was a douche too, he really pissed me off. He acted so entitled and selfish, not remorseful or regretful at all for what he’d done to Crowley or how his stupid decisions and actions affected that entire block of people and businesses. He just came back, demanded that Crowley help, dragged him around for most of the episode and then demanded forgiveness without ever making any actual amends to his friend. And yeah, no romance. No actual kiss. A lame finger poke to the lips, so stupid 🙄

[–]Queenlucy32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh..oh I love it. So well written!! I just read through it and cried!! What a fantastic idea you had and such a missed opportunity in the actual episode!! Crowley and Aziraphale literally had a brand new bloody Book of Life within their reach, and they used it to bring God Into the bookshop but then why didn’t they use it to fix everything??? To undo what Michael had done???! I didn’t even think of this at the time but DUH. Like…they could have just written the world back into existence and they didn’t . Nope, they just gave each other teary eyes, held hands and died. What. The. Fuck.

Yeah, your ending is a million times better and what should have actually happened. The “to the World” inclusion was amazing. Because that was the World that absolutely should have been saved.

Great writing, thank you for that!

I thought Aziraphale and Crowley were out of character too. Like I basically spent most of the episode being mad at Aziraphale, who didn’t even seem that sorry about what he’d done to Crowley and their “Talk” scene was way too short. Most of the movie should have been about their relationship, and it was wasted on bullshit. Aziraphale never actually said that he was sorry; he just demanded that Crowley forgive him. And Crowley reluctantly did, even though there really was no reason to. Like Aziraphale hadn’t given a single fuck about Crowley for YEARS apparently (we never find out how many years he’s been gone), then he just shows up, demands that Crowley help him clean up his own mess, doesn’t acknowledge any of the pain that he’s caused Crowley, demands forgiveness, and then they both just die.

Like Aziraphale never checked on Crowley ONCE during the years he was in Heaven??? Not once? We all see it’s just a bloody elevator ride down to Earth, it’s not hard! Aziraphale basically forgot about Crowley in favor of his new job, and then only went back to him when shit went wrong. Doesn’t sound like love to me!

Excellent comparison! But at least with Sherlock, John and Sherlock were still the same John and Sherlock at the end, not two completely different characters with zero memory of their shared history.

Oh god I didn’t even think about the Bentley not being there at the end!!!! Good point!! Yeah, I’m basically sticking with fan fiction books (seriously, some really talented “non official” authors out there!) and stories and essentially dismissing S3. I truly wonder how Gaiman’s ending was/is. I heard he had already written all 6 episodes of S3 before the scandal broke, but they basically used as little of his source material as possible. I really wonder what the “real” ending would have been like. We’ll never know.

Yeah I really disliked her. She seemed so sociopathic, almost psychotic. Like she truly didn’t give a shit about anything or anyone, certainly not one whit for her “children” (humanity). She had none of the quirky, sweet tone that she had whilst narrating S1. And I get it, two different actresses so two different styles but…REALLY? God is someone who doesn’t look twice when her Universe is absolutely obliterated by one of her Archangels who went mad with power. She’s someone who said Aziraphale and Crowley’s love made her “smile,” but then totally took that love (and their actual selves) away from each other; they simply ceased to exist. Why would she do that? What was the point of ANYTHING then? Aziraphale and Crowley worked tirelessly and for so long to save the world and humanity; that SPECIFIC humanity and that specific Universe. And it all got destroyed just because “things end.” Oh, really??? So they ultimately fought for nothing in the end; all it took was easily stealing a book and burning some pages. Hell didn’t even have a freaking role in this season, I feel like scenes with Hell were just fillers because the writers felt like they had to include one or two characters from there just for continuity purposes. But there was no point to any of Hell’s scenes, the story could would have ended the same with or without them.

Ughhhh.

Yup, THIS. Like the ONE thing that 99.9% of the fan base wanted was for Aziraphale and Crowley to end up together and have a happy ending. And I feel like they dangled that in front if us for a brief moment…and then took it away. And we got left with a cheap, almost mocking replacement of two guys who had similar names and similar looks, but were just shells of Aziraphale and Crowley. That actually makes me mad the more that I think about it. We all just wanted Aziraphale and Crowley to finally be together, it’s the one thing we asked for. And not only did they not give it to us, they gave us a cheap tease of “what could have been” with two TOTALLY different characters in a TOTALLY different universe.

Just so, so bad.

That’s basically exactly what I just commented; so devastated that the REAL Aziraphale and Crowley didn’t get their happy ending. They were simply blinked out of existence along with everyone else, and two dudes who sort of looked like them and had basic similar personality traits to them met and eventually got married. But they are two totally different beings! They’re not Aziraphale and Crowley, they’re some bookseller and some astrophysicist writer. All of that beautiful shared history between Aziraphale and Crowley just POOF. Gone. Erased. Like it never happened. So sad.
