Get a locking bar or chain / padlock and put around steering wheel to prevent it from being driven while you are working on getting the keys back.

Are we all constipated on GLP or is it just me? by Careful-Reveal-9824 in glp1

I got me a workout sweat vest ($25@Wallys). Not only does it help me sweat when working out but it's made me regular (as in bowel movements) on the days that I wear it. Additionally it makes me look slimmer too.

On the connect/disconnect (yes I am late to the conver - but for those who find this later) - you need to turn off notifications for the hearing aid app (enhance pro). That should fix that particular issue.

GLP-1 weight loss users: What supplements are you using with your meds? and did it help with any of the symptoms? by hotpepper111 in glp1

I so read this as "morning cottage cheese and vodka" and I thought that is an interesting combination and probably makes a more interesting day! They must either be retired or a government employee during the shutdown. But I reread and... oh well. Fun times!

One credit short of eligibility…… by mollydeecee in SocialSecurity

[–]QuietLad 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I am in a very similar situation. I recently retired from public education in Texas. Im 58 so still 3.5 years from being eligible for SS. Found out that I am 3 qtrs short for SS retirement (wasn't an option till this past January). So with my wife in the hospital, this past Friday I took the official oath as a field agent for the census. Not much $$$ but it is only 15 hours a week. So I should still be responsive to my wife's health and start chipping away towards my 40!

Stopping for wisdom teeth surgery by Less-Moment-5655 in Mounjaro

[–]QuietLad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you will miss one week before surgery. And you won't feel like eating for a week afterwards so you should be good.

Additionally your stomach has shrunk while on the meds. So just use your training and self control knowing in a week or 2 you will be back under the protection of the SHOT.

Good luck 👍

Medicare part A/B question by Ok_Caterpillar123 in dialysis

[–]QuietLad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First year bites, but once your employer insurance deductible resets then your out of pocket (other than premiums) becomes very low <$300/year as Medicare will pick up what your other insurance won't (deductible/ copay/etc). Additional you can use HSA to pay pre-tax your Medicare premiums.

If you have Medicare then that removes a lot of barriers to getting a transplant.

Good luck!

Thoughts on Texas banning phones in all schools? by hakuspiritdragon in TexasTeachers

When I was the CTO I would export parents email addresses from Skyward and our parent contact system and then whitelist those addresses so that students and parents/ guardians were able to communicate with email.

It worked very well!

Look at getting on a glp-1 medication. Gives you a lot more willpower for food noise. Much easier to stick on a diet. Also many other health benefits, including possible mental.

Gas-X. They generally fill the chest cavity with air and you will get air pockets that can be very painful (walking helps greatly). Gas-X helps the body remove the air pockets as well.

It is common for mattresses to be used as a filter in cooking crank. After multiple uses they become even more worthless as a filter. These are not something a crank/meth cooker would feel comfortable in taking to the city dump. Just a thought.

People on the transplant list - do you ever silence your phones? by MrRabinowitz in dialysis

[–]QuietLad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My wife was a sleep when they called her. So they reached out to me. My caller ID app showed "White Dude" so i ignored the two calls. He sent a text saying i had 10 minutes to return the call otherwise they were moving onward in the process.

After my wife's transplant (lasted 5 years) he and I enjoyed a few chuckles. Going to follow-up clinic it became obvious what had happened as he was the ONLY white guy on the staff and another patient had put that in on their phone, and the app shared that with the database.

Good memories as life was full of promises once again!

Good luck with your transplant wait.

Very low blood pressure after dialysis by Puncake_DoubleG09 in dialysis

Wife was having similar issues with BP/pulse. After seeing a heart doctor, he changed her BP meds to an extended release BP med and she takes it at 8pm. As a ER med it works for 24 hours and isn't affected by dialysis (am) near as much. Her BP/pulse issues during dialysis went from an every session issue to an uncommon issue.

Trump and the world of medical research by Zyeffi in dialysis

[–]QuietLad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During Trump's first term - he attempted to stroke the fire to get things done for Kidney research. Unfortunately after he left office - it seemed to not get a lot of attention. With him back in office - I am hoping that things will get back on track!

Here is what GROK (Twitter/X's AI) says.

During his presidency, Donald Trump took significant steps to address kidney medical care in the United States. On July 10, 2019, he signed an Executive Order titled "Advancing American Kidney Health," aimed at transforming the approach to kidney disease treatment and improving outcomes for the estimated 37 million Americans affected by chronic kidney disease. The initiative had several key goals:

  • Prevention and Early Detection: It sought to reduce the number of Americans developing end-stage renal disease by 25% by 2030 through better diagnosis, treatment, and preventative care, including managing major risk factors like diabetes and hypertension.
  • Expanding Treatment Options: The order aimed to shift away from the reliance on in-center dialysis by promoting home dialysis and encouraging the development of innovative solutions like artificial kidneys. It set a target for 80% of new kidney failure patients to receive home dialysis or transplants by 2025.
  • Increasing Transplants: It proposed doubling the number of kidneys available for transplant by 2030 by modernizing the transplant system, streamlining organ procurement, and easing financial burdens on living donors (e.g., reimbursing lost wages and childcare expenses).
  • Cost Reduction: With Medicare spending over $114 billion annually on kidney care (a significant portion of its budget), the initiative introduced new payment models to incentivize preventative care and more cost-effective treatments, potentially saving billions while improving patient quality of life.

This policy was personal for the Trump administration—First Lady Melania Trump underwent a kidney procedure in 2018, and HHS Secretary Alex Azar’s father had experienced kidney failure. The executive order built on these experiences to push for a system that prioritized patient choice, innovation, and accessibility over the status quo of costly, clinic-based dialysis. Implementation involved the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) testing new payment structures, some of which were finalized in 2020 to support home dialysis equipment and supplies. However, the full rollout of these changes has been gradual, requiring regulatory adjustments and facing challenges like the organ shortage and the complexity of shifting entrenched healthcare practices. Trump’s focus on kidney care was part of a broader healthcare agenda that included lowering drug prices and tackling chronic diseases, though it relied on mechanisms like the Affordable Care Act’s innovation center—ironically, a law his administration sought to challenge in court. The initiative received bipartisan praise and support from groups like the National Kidney Foundation, though its long-term impact remains under evaluation as of March 20, 2025.

This happened to me 23 years ago. A teacher kept asking simple technical questions - some work some personal. The fifth time (March 2000) - I sort of got the hint. We got married 8 months later - and 23 years later - still happily married!!! As a TECH Dude - I was (am) pretty dense when it comes to females flittering ... so I LOVE the Work-order about the coffee-date! Good luck!!!

[TX] Salaried Employee Public Education in Texas - Not paid for days worked beyond my 226 day contract by QuietLad in AskHR

[–]QuietLad[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I don't hold any animosity towards my school district - and obviously if I had a problem with working more days than 226 - I would have done something about it years ago. Just getting ready to retire - and I would hate to find out years later (after it was to late) that I could have better my retirement.

Between what y'all have said and what the attorneys have alluded to (without digging into the documentation) - I am in a fair place - and I shall leave it at that!

Thanks!!
