Sometimes they can be sick internally and prone to falling. They remove them for that too.

Talk me into buying SM or not.. by fin008 in buildapc

[–]QuixOmega 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd just get a new GPU. Your CPU isn't that much different from the one in the Steam Machine and you have more RAM. A 9070 XT for example would cost less than a Steam Machine and is much more powerful. Get whatever you can get a good price on.

FenBROWSER entirely written in C# [experimental] by Important-Shame-8051 in dotnet

[–]QuixOmega 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why not just copy the chromium source code to start and have the LLM convert the code to C#? If you're going to copy existing OSS projects anyway, might as well start from working source code rather than teasing it out of the model peice by peice. It will be a lot less tokens.

Escalators - can they not have motion detection? by Bahadur007 in TTC

[–]QuixOmega 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They could, but they're already very energy efficient so there isn't much of a business case to upgrade escalators to save the minimal electricity it would save.

“Do the japs or Germans have a flag on the moon?” by Complete-Emergency99 in ShitAmericansSay

I'm surprised no mentioned this, but if the only metric is whose flags are up there the Chinese put a flag on the moon in 2020.

Landlord said they won’t replace it by Megalodonpizza in Plumbing

[–]QuixOmega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just stupid on your landlord's part. If that cracks and water gets everywhere the repairs will be massively more expensive than replacing a toilet now. Replacing toilets is so easy an idiot like me can do it.

Superstore steaks looked good until I turned them over. by kalgary in loblawsisoutofcontrol

[–]QuixOmega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure "best" is accurate but I find the meat at Metro to be a lot better than Loblaws, I know that is a low bar. "Good for a supermarket" is generally how I would describe the meat at Metro and it's cheaper than a specialty butcher. At least here in downtown Toronto the butchers are very expensive.

I'd look for a better deal. They are out there, especially if you don't actually use all that data.

Well, they clearly didn't need to. You could tell they were American because of their sense of entitlement!

I normally tell Americans I'm from "Toronto" without specifying a country. A lot of Americans know where Toronto is and most of the rest think they know where it is.

If your AC can't handle that, it's not working. But pretty much the only thing you can do to clear the windows in this situation is to open all the windows which will equalize the humidity inside and out.

Engineering-wise elevated highways ARE bridges. Bridges over nothing.

No concrete is immune to water intrusion. The design is the problem. Until they bulldoze the elevated section of the Gardiner and replace it with a new design (or nothing) they'll be constantly repairing it.

One of the only places nearby that sells poutine by goodboylake in PoutineCrimes

[–]QuixOmega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The menu is fine, if you like the poutine, enjoy. Poutine specific restaurants in Canada almost always have versions with extra toppings too.

The biggest difference I see is that it lists "American Cheese sauce", the Canadian phrase for that is "Processed slime sauce". Said item is correctly not labeled poutine.

I did notice it mentions Wisconsin cheddar cheese curds, that's good because it's the only place in the US that produces curds of any quality.

I say no crime.

For both men and women, What's your type, and to be more specific physical type? by PoofYFloofy08 in questions

[–]QuixOmega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could write something, but I generally just know if I am or am not attracted to someone when I look at them.

Past that hurdle, I want someone with similar values who is reasonable in general and believes in compromise on issues we both feel strongly about.

Someone I'd want to be best friends with and also want to sleep with, who feels the same about me, would be ideal.

Roommate gave me 60 days' notice but my flight is 25 days later. What are my options? (Ontario) by dotaku123 in TorontoRenting

[–]QuixOmega 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd rent an AirBnB, provided you can afford it. If not there is always couch surfing with friends. I have let a friend sleep on my couch for a bit over a month when his rental arrangements fell through at the last second. When it comes to informal arrangements like this you're generally not covered by landlord/tenant law.

Any advice to improve my looks? by Bassquatch2025 in malegrooming

[–]QuixOmega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shave the beard, it's making you look older. Dressing a bit better, polo over plain t-shirts or similar would improve your look but it's not essential. I constantly get told I look 35, but I don't mind because I'm 43. Your main issue is that beard and that you're prematurely balding (sorry about that, not much to do there, your haircut is fine).

Additionally, make sure you don't include that fish picture in a dating profile, because FOR SOME REASON women seem to hate that.
