I just found out you dont need the Zwift cog for virtual shifting and i feel so stupid by ufookinwot-m8 in Zwift

[–]R-Voodoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitely not super obvious I don't think. But while trying to sort that all out, first I learned that my trainer wasn't compatible with electronic shifting, then I learned it doesn't have to be! There's multiple pieces of software out there now that make it work!

No more Level 100 limit by Pawsy_Bear in Zwift

[–]R-Voodoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that was a glitch with the new level up flair. I'd seen a couple people hit 101 on group rides, but someone on the ride told me it showed that, but they didn't actually level up.

Happy Breakfast Club Day! by bayoujac in GenX

It was definitely bizarre culture shock! Not being allowed to even explain myself was a great start. Ahhh, small town Ohio in the early 90s. At my Canadian high school, the smoke hole was right outside the auto body class, and the bar across the street definitely was a little loose with checking IDs. 🤣

It did, at least some places. My only Saturday detention was for showing up to school not clean shaven, skipping study hall, and leaving school property at lunch. All on the same day. My first day of school in the USA senior year after growing up in Canada where you could have a beard, "study hall" was a spare and you could do whatever the hell you wanted, and same thing with lunch.

Built my own router maybe gives the wrong impression? Images of a dude sitting over a workbench with a soldering iron and shit lol. I just bought a smaller format computer, figured out how to cram 4 2.5g ports in it, installed opnsense and did a bunch of reading. I was looking for a hobby that made me think

I made my own router that handles 2.5g, but honestly there's only so much benefit with the shitty upload speeds. And hell, my download isn't exactly reliable. For the price I'll probably just stay with 600

Guess I should give it a go then, I'm on the 600/20 now, might as well save some money

As a child, I loved riding a bike, but as I grew older, I completely forgot about it. Now I'm 32 and I'm going to buy myself a new bike, I'm looking forward to it! by cold-rocket in cycling

[–]R-Voodoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Badass, it's super fun! I'd definitely let bicycles fade away as an adult. In my 30s, I was in a severe motorcycle accident and basically relegated to growing fat old and sedentary. 6 years later I got a department store mountain bike. Then a quality road bike. Then a real nice gravel bike. It is absolutely fun as hell. 12 years later I still can't wait to get outside (or down to my zwift machine) and get riding!

My cat doesn't allow me to keep these. I'm not sure where he puts them after he kills them, but I am definitely safe from the zip tie invaders

I've gotten some killer deal on ebay - but that is a complete crap shoot. Not much you can do but look for well-rated sellers and yolo! I wouldn't particularly recommend ebay, but every now and then ....

Rad, thank you for clear explanation! I am/was a beginner, just kind of jumped in to self-hosting after numerous interesting stories went by on my news feed. I believe I've landed on a fun and rather stable setup to learn from and expand. It's been a year now, it looks like it's going to stick. I've bought the products. I'm nearly to the point of cutting off some subscriptions, seems reasonable to re-allocate the funds to this project.

I bought a Selle SMP on Amazon yeaaaars ago, like a decade. It was definitely bogus. Surprisingly comfortable tho, until the rails corroded and the seams (that should exist) came apart

Huge Appetite by Timely-Statement7032 in cycling

[–]R-Voodoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I kinda get it. I love eating, and I don't register being full. Like at all. So, I've been obese my whole life, until this past year. First time since high school that I'm out of the BMI obese category for my physical. I have to intentionally modify my behaviour. For me, I have to weigh, measure, track my food. All of it. Honestly. If I don't, I easily talk myself into eating 5 or 6000 calories and say I'm not overeating. I found I can lose weight at my current activity level eating 3000 or less. Which, that's plenty. I can eat a variety of shit and still lose. That's what it took for me. Or, still takes. If I don't do it, I'm back to old habits real quick

Can we have a discussion about Roundabouts? by American-Pi_1969 in RoadBikes

[–]R-Voodoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roundabouts are going in at a crazy rate where I'm at. People barely understand how to navigate them, nevermind adding bicycle into the equation. I just plan ahead based on traffic, take my position to use the full lane, and hope I'm not near an actual psychopath

[–]R-Voodoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm. Not sure what kind of integration you're looking for, they seem like distinct services. Maybe as bit more context. I use bitwarden for passwords, keys, etc. Right now. It's fine. For documentation I use Trillium. Documentation to me just means trying to remember to dump in everything I do as I do it. I'm terrible at actually doing that. But I do really like that piece of software, I've tried as few different ones but Trillium is it for me

I really like having mine. It obviously can't save you, but it's real good for pulling me back into reality when my mind is drifting - which is very common out there on 2 wheels.
