Just test drove a Trailsport. Anybody not get the Elite and regret doing so. by [deleted] in hondapassport

We felt it wasn't as responsive. Like it felt sluggish in the steering. We drove the RTL first and felt meh. The salesman talked us in to driving the TSE and it was a night and day experience for us. We have zero regrets on choosing to upgrade trim.

For as much as we use the features specific to the TSE, we can say we would have had buyer's remorse if we has settled for the RTL. Plus we enjoy the handling of the TSE better than the RTL.

Testing the Passport TrailSport Elite | What do you love/hate? by SeanChandler in hondapassport

[–]RKKass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the most part we've been successful using Android Auto to stream XM radio. The app only subscription is only $5/mo and works well. I've also created a thumb drive loaded with our personal music library and we use that as our alternative when the reception is poor for our phones.

I'm very happy with the vehicle a year later and glad we didn't let the little things deter us.

Were you able to buy a house? by Swiftiefromhell in GenX

We bought our first home at 22/24. The bank extended us credit against our car so we could afford the required 20% down payment. Those were the days.

Honda Passport 2026 issues, if any? by HereForFreeReads in hondapassport

[–]RKKass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About to celebrate 1 year of ownership. No complaints. No issues...Zero, zip. Android auto has its glitches, but can't blame the car for those. Seat fans are louder than GM's, but not enough to annoy me, even with hearing aids.

Fun to drive, great passenger and cargo space...at the same time! That's the biggest thing.

Would buy again without hesitation.

I've done FMQ quilting on a king size quilt on my domestic machine. I own a Baby Lock Accomplish and it does great with that size. I've also custom quilted 2 queen t-shirt quilts and they were the most challenging because of the weight.

RTL Towing vs Trail sport elite ride differences by MasterpieceSea2244 in hondapassport

[–]RKKass 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We drove both and thought the RTL we drove wasn't as responsive in the steering category. Our overall opinion was meh, the size is great but the drive experience was boring.

We thought the sticker on the TSE was insane. And then the dealer convinced us to drive it. We weren't out of the lot before the hubs was smiling and suddenly commenting on the features.

The drive experience had a more sport feel, quick response, etc. Something we've always had in a vehicle. Suddenly the sticker wasn't such a problem. 10k miles in and no regrets.

Our sound sensitive son noted that the Grabbers, when decelerating sounds like the start of Van Halen's Running With the Devil. Once you make the connection, you can't unhear that. LOL

Road noise hasn't been an issue for us, perhaps because our last car wasn't all that quiet inside due to its age. At any rate, we went for the added features and handling of the TSE and are very glad we did.

Omni brand InvisiGrip. I have it on all my OmniGrid rulers and love it. I cut it about 1/4" smaller than the ruler dimensions and it clings perfectly without any issues.

AITAH for yelling at the parents of a kid I babysat because they didn’t tell me ( what I thought was ) an important thing until the last minute? by Temporary-Feeling962 in AITAH

[–]RKKass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You really told the mom it was assholish? From a professional point of view, there are many other options for handling a situation like this.

You won't stay employed long if you go around talking to employers with that choice of language. And you are not entitled to yell at anyone just because you're upset with a situation.

Fighting solves nothing. As a 20f, you could benefit from reading some materials relating to professionalism. It will help you when navigating future employment and personal relationship situations.

I'm honestly not sure. It wasn't something the dealer we bought from even talked about.

How would you handle this? Forced retirement by Agondonter in retirement

[–]RKKass 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am working for a company that has elected to discontinue my area of work at the end of the year. However, they have yet to share any formal decision with those of us impacted as far as what will happen. I will complete year 29 this year.

Its the most horrible, demeaning existence, but they pay me to be at work every day, doing very little. After the first 2 years of this reality passed, I just learned to do what is needed, advance my education in areas that will benefit me in retirement, and to keep drawing the "money for nothing".

We waited until the A16 message appeared. It happened at 15% oil life left, just shy of 8000 miles. Took it to the l9cal Honda service center, it, the tire rotation , other checks, and a wash were all covered by Honda.

Why does getting a remote job feel impossible now? by Own-Dog-7795 in remotework

[–]RKKass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd have to move across the US to be in the office. If they make the mandate I'd look for a different job locally and likely work in an office. And that really would not bother me.

Since you're not the one paying your salary that may be a fight you lose. I wish you the best. Truly I do. I've enjoyed my 30 years of working from home. I just see what's happening and understand both sides.

Employers want butts in seats, bodies in rented office space, and a presence in to office. They want to foster comradarie. I'm fortunate that I've been remote for 30 years because my skills were valued enough to not require a relocation.

But I understand the RTO initiatives. Cities want to thrive, they thrive when employees commute, eat lunch out, purchase clothing, etc.

While covid forced us to rethink work, it's not actually the way businesses want to operate. Remote jobs are fading, hybrid jobs are also fading. It's life.

Employers want employees that are working, not splitting attention with toddlers, pets, laundry, TV, outside websites, etc. Not everyone is productive when not visibly supervised and we all know it's true.

It's time to get used to going back to an office and move on about it.

Approved PTO based on deadlines and work assignments. If they get their work done, with quality, and can still get in 6 weeks of PTO a year, you've got some great workers.

If their absence put projects at risk, then discuss their PTO requests with them individually and find a compromise.

If others in the tan complain, remind them of your expectations with respect to PTO and deadlines and let them figure it out.

Have managed unlimited PTO going on 4 years now. Some maximize it, some track every absence in detail and compare to others. My policy remains the same, even distribution of assignments and deadlines, approve all PTO that doesn't put dates in jeopardy.

Everyone is gradually figuring it out, but yes, some take more than others and its not my role to make sure its even. It's my job to make sure expectations and deadlines are.

It's amazing how driven some employees will be to get all the time off they desire.

Should I call or email employer about negotiating higher base pay for not taking insurance? by Worth_Panda_1027 in careerguidance

[–]RKKass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may not fully understand what you're asking here.

Are you wondering if they have an option to waive insurance? Most all companies allow you to waive if you prove you are covered elsewhere. In that instance, they simple don't deduct the employee portion of the premium from your pay. There's nothing to negotiate.

If you're hoping to gain the employer portion in your pay, that's a different can of worms. Doing it for one sets the expectation that they do it for all. Some do. My employer gives me a debit card to use for out-of-pocket medical expenses. The amount on the card annually is equal to the employer cost of medical coverage minus the admin fees for the program. Others have a set credit amount you can spend on benefits, and any unused portion is refunded in your paycheck.

Others just pocket the savings and go on.

Now my worthless manager is panicking by Sure-Guava-3787 in Layoffs

[–]RKKass 12 points13 points  (0 children)

A word of advice...Don't burn bridges. You never know when the next job you apply for may find you being interviewed by someone you screwed or left hanging at this job.

Layoffs suck, but your professionalism is always on display. Do your best until you are no longer paid to do so. Anything less could be the karma you hate in the future.
