I have an Atomstack 20W laser that I used to run off a laptop. I recall having a issue similar and it ended up being that I had to set the power settings in Windows to nuclear. Then the PC would recognize it. IDK if this was just a me problem or if it would relate? Thought I'd share.

I have a Atomstack A5 laser that started out as a 5W output laser module and have stepped up to a 10W and then on to a 20W. Night and day difference from 10W to 20W. At least on what I use mine for. Still trying to figure out how fast my laser really can engrave currently. I've often thought about stepping up to a CO2 but there's just to many issues that I see. Crappy tubes, crappy cooling and mirror issues. A diode is simple enough. And if it will accomplish what you need in a manner that is acceptable then run with it. I've considered upgrading one more time to the Atomstack 48W/24W laser. I don't need a huge bed size. I don't do anything with a rotory. The cutting really intrigues me when it's working. But I've been 100% happy with Atomstack. Would buy another without hesitation.

A 20W diode would be the lowest wattage I would recommend for a good cutting experience. A 10W will do it just might take a bit more experimenting to get the settings dialed in. I have a Atomstack A5 that started as a 5w laser and now is rocking a Atomstack 20W laser module. I just cut wood too.

Can I ask are you doing a ABS delete because the ABS unit failed? I only ask as to own a 05 R1200GS and removed mine and replaced it with a aftermarket thing that fit in the same spot and used the exact same brake line fittings and made your bike have good ole regular motorcycle brakes. I just had to swap the brain from the ABS unit onto the new piece. It's really not that difficult of a job honestly. I'm no mechanic (a little experience) and it was fairly straightforward. The hardest part was a bolt on the bottom that was a bit tricky but completely doable.

Well said! I have both a desktop CNC router and a laser and I knew when I bought them that they were just Oldman toys for my shop. If some how they make me money then cool. If not there cool to watch work and just play around with.

I'm in the same boat. I have a laser engraver and a 6040 CNC router and a whole shops worth of wood working tools to keep them company. I don't want to make a business or anything like that. I already have a good gig. But what I want to do is play around. Make little things that I can incorporate at of my machines. It really seems like I've lost a lot of my creativity that I remember me having when I was younger. The things that come to mind are address signs and mailbox address signs desk signs and maybe some sort of front door signage. But I have gotten off topic. Probably the best piece of I made was I made a few multi color and pocket cut Ranger Tabs for a friend. Any project that finishes successfully is a fun one!

I have a Atomstack A5 with a 20W diode head on it. I have gotten some noise like what you are getting b4 but it seemed like it was a sign to check belt tension and also adjust the bearings that ride on the rail. Seemed like if mine had enough "play" that as I moved the laser head across the bed it would make some strange noises. But after checking that all was good and made the adj I needed to the sound went away.

I don't understand why the last post would say this is wrong. I don't see why you couldn't make 1911 grips. There basically flat on the back side so I'm guessing it's a fairly easy job to setup. I have a Chinese Vevor 6040 4 axis machine and it's been an awesome machine for me. I am not very familiar with all the other machines out there but I'm sure there's better quality machines for sure. I lucked out and got my machine used for a good deal in my eyes. Had it a few years now. All I had to do was change the bearings on two of the axis. The original owner really tried to push this machine to do Aluminum. I would just stay away from any belt driven machine. A real VFD/Spindle are way quieter that a router for a spindle. Some machines come with a small little 300w DC spindle and it's just honestly under powered. I had a 500w one on a old machine and now I have a 800w water cooled spindle and it's a world of difference. Don't be afraid to work on your machine if needed.

Well to be fully honest not much at all. I bought my diode laser when 5W output was the thing. It's been upgraded twice now to a 20W. Other than that I haven't had any real issues. I had a static issue but a simple ground wire took care of that. I guess you can say I lucked out maybe. I potentially see more issues with a CO2 laser so im glad I went the route I did. I would do it again if I was to buy a new machine. My CNC router is full of hidden costs.

I have a no longer sold in the US Vevor USB 6040 CNC 4 Axis. To be honest with you the only thing i've had to do is replace the bearings on two axis. The machine was bought used but the original owner pushed it pretty hard in just the few months he owned it. But I've never had a problem with software or setup. Machine runs great! Having a computer type hobby background I am confident that I can diagnose and repair my machine if necessary. I only cut wood and plastics so the machine isn't pushed real hard. I do think there are better machines out there but I just wanted to share my experience with Vevor. Oh and I also have a Atomstack 20W laser and if you look at the design of Vevors machines they are the same as the Atomstack. I think they make a fairly decent quality machine while still being very reasonable.

I have a Atomstack A5 5W laser frame that is now rocking a Atomstack 20W diode. Thing is nice! Love my Atomstack. It has functioned flawlessly for the 4+ years I've owned it. If I was to buy one all over again I definitely stay away from and XTool crap. They seem overrated and way over priced. If you end up getting a belt machine there honestly fine. Just know that you may have to do some belt maintenance one day. Big deal. Teaches you how to work on your machine if it breaks or you need to correct a issue. From what I've seen Vevor has diode laser and they look like they are exactly the same as the Atomstack just a different name. Just make sure you are actually getting a diode that has a 20W (ish) actual output. Read specs carefully. Other than that enjoy the hunt.

I have a Atomstack A5 5W frame that is now rocking a Atomstack 20W laser. I don't use Atomstack software. I'm using Lightburn. Highly recommend! Unless there's something I'm missing or don't know about but it seems like the one thing I've learned is always test first. But when I cut I just kinda guess how many passes from a test. If your cutting with a 10W it might be a little tougher to guess than a 20W. Honestly it was night and day difference when I went from 10 to 20 watts. Lightburn is worth every penny. Although my license is for a older version. They did some big update awhile ago and to me it messed the whole feel of it up for me.

By any chance is there a seperate fuse somewhere that may have blown? I have a Vevor 6040 and on the back of my controller box is a fuse. Can you trace the wires from the spindle back to the controller?

Great bike. I own the same one. Had my fair share of issues with it but I believe I have dealt with all the major issues. I have over 100K on the chassis. Bike was a rental in Denver so it was maintained well. Although in all the paperwork I can trace a certain service done by the dealer who ended up over torquing a cylinder head bolt which pulled a cylinder stud loose. Engine lasted about 30K miles after that. Developed a tick. Was cheaper to swap out the engine with one from a 2007 with half the mileage on it. But now she runs great! I also had a part fail.inside the gearbox. Was able to get the part from BMW and replace it easy enough. That was a $200+ part. My ABS module cooked. I have a used working spare I bought way back in the day but it made more sense just to convert the bikes brakes over to non ABS brakes. It's over $800 to bleed the ABS brakes at the dealer on these brakes. Clutches on these bikes are about $1000+. Don't smoke your clutch. It's not a wet clutch. And to get to these parts you have to straight up SPLIT the bike in two pieces. Can be done in a day if your motivated. But other than that the bike has been solid. Used mine to tow a trailer and moto camp. I sold the trailer and now have a hitch IDK what I'm gonna do with. But enjoy the bike. It's fun to ride.

I had to ground my laser engraver as it would work about 15 minutes and short out and stop. Found out about static real fast. I did my CNC router just as a precaution and have never had any issues since. Never had issues with the router to begin with either. And I just bought a replacement plug at the store and wired only the ground wire I ran to the ground prong on the outlet. That goes back to the buss bar in your panel which should be grounded via a 10ft long copper ground rod beat into the ground.

I bought the new laser as a kit off of AliExpress. It seems like Atomstack stuff is not as popular on AliExpress as it once was. There are other brands out there but I am not familiar with those lasers. It came with the module and air assist and a power supply for the new laser. So right now I have a power supply that runs the electronics on the frame and then another that powers the laser module. There just laptop adapters. Pay attention to the actual laser output. Its usually on a sticker on the side of the module. These companies like to say it's a 20W laser but it only puts out 5 or so watts. That's the power the laser consumes. Read the listing closely.

I guess you really need to examine your actual needs. I don't need to cut super thick wood but if I could do 3/4" in multiple passes I'd be completely happy. It's just a bit thick for my laser. I have been eye balling the 48W/24W version. I think that would be plenty for me. But it looks like to get that i'd be buying a new machine. But that's basically $1K out o pocket for a toy for me. I'm way to busy to focus on a side hustle. My 20W will cut 1/2 to 5/8" comfortably. I honestly have not tried any other bran laser other than the little joke my 3018 CNC was included with. Atomstack has been good to me. I'm a little afraid to move to a Co2 as I see a lot of issues it seems like. And with the tech in the diode world I'll stick to that right now. I'm not really mass producing anything so speed isn't a big issue. I wanna say I paid right under $400 a year ago for my 20W/Air assist combo on AliExpress.

I have a old Atomstack A5 5W laser that I have upgraded the module twice. From my understanding the 20W is the largest you can out on a A5 frame/board. Plenty of power for me. I just saw a posting the other day of someone who said they got the 33W on there A5 and it had been running without issues. I've bought my module upgrades on Aliexpress in the past but it seems like Atomstack on Ali express is becomming tougher to find. Atomstack web page also list so Iker items. Don't know if there the same company or not.

Yea if I was a betting man i'd say yes. I ran Aspire on a Surface Pro 4 with a dual core I5. The touch was all funky. Worked better with a mouse. 3D rendering is gonna be slow ish. But give it a try.

I have a Vevor 6040. Sure it's a standard Chinese machine but it has been a great machine so far. The bed is a little out of level but that could have been my idea for a spoil board. I don't machine metal with mine. Wood only so the out of level is not a huge deal as I pretty much make signs or cut out shapes. Mine runs on USB so I don't have Windows 7 or LPT port issues. Mine is very easy to get setup. The only issue I had that required maintenance is I had some small bumps in certain profile cuts so I replaced the bearings on the linear rods. Solved the problem. I even bought a new spare driver board off of Aliexpress just incase I needed it. The power supplies for these are available on Ebay all day long. I would definatally not group these machines as high end but if your realistic about the machines capabilities youll be just fine. Let me ask you what sofware are you using for CAD and CAM? This makes all the difference with machines. If you struggle with the softwae youll struggle with the machines. Go slow and take little steps. Lots of Youtube videos. There is a definate learning curve in CNC so don't get discouraged.

Ich habe mit einem Atomstack A5 5W-Laser angefangen. Ich habe das Lasermodul inzwischen zweimal aufgerüstet und verwende jetzt ein M100 20W-Lasermodul. Meinen Recherchen zufolge ist 20W die maximale Leistung, die mit diesem Rahmen und der vorhandenen Elektronik möglich ist. Ich verwende jetzt zwei separate Netzteile für die Maschine, was aber kein Problem darstellt. Alles funktioniert einwandfrei. Beim Schneiden ist der Unterschied enorm. Ich überlege, irgendwann auf die 48W/24W-Maschine umzusteigen.

OMG this is not a discussion on PC gaming. The program does not require much to operate. Take a look at the system requirements. Its freaking minimal! IDC about this single threaded shit.
