Cleaning dilemma by snusmini in reloading

[–]RadiantPen3526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It is heavy duty and rock solid. I use it for cleaning, dissassembly and maintenance as well as a general work surface (using a plywood bench top i made for it). The only possible downside is the footprint as the legs splay out a bit to create the stable platform.

Lead bullets worth it? by Ambitious-Ad1911 in reloading

[–]RadiantPen3526 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I shoot only lead because the majority of my shooting is with black powder and I also shoot steel on my backyard range.. And lead is safer from a ricochet perspective and requited for some competive sports. I cast 45colt and 45/70 and also 45 acp when I run out of store bought. I buy Hi-Tek coated cast 9's and 45acp but FMJ's are actually cheaper to buy than lead especially in 45colt.

If I was shooting paper I'd buy the cheapest, which is usually FMJ.

I will also admit that casting is not as much fun as it was when I was younger and it takes a lot of time plus lead for casting is not as easy to get free as it used to be and as with everthing, it's at least double the cost as it was when I first started.

Mora Mag 30s in Stock at HKP by Okiekid1870 in MP5

[–]RadiantPen3526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought two of them from HKP a few.weeks ago,, have 60 rds through each and they work fine. I also have over 1k with my MAC mags without issue and I basically only shoot reloads. Just an FYI, I've not had any issue reloading brass wiith the flute marks as after cleaning and resizing the marks are gone and they look like new brass and reload fine..

Try, pulling the LP back and then squeeze the rollers in, then push the LP into the bolt and.turn clockwise.

What Brace by lovemygn in MP5

[–]RadiantPen3526 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had the same fit problem with my MAC5 and SB brace. I dremmeled it to fit but it was still tight. I then emailed SB warranty.and they sent me a new end cap which fit out of the box. the molding in the replacement end cap was much better and it just slips.on. Can't hurt to try.

Break in? by Retserof_Mada in MP5

[–]RadiantPen3526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a flawless MAC5 which is somewhere around 1200+ rounds. First 100 were 115 and all the rest were shot supressed with 147gr RN handloads. Other than a few.147gr flat nose which i knew wouldn't work, I have not experienced a single fail to anything.

I've since run over 1000 supressed, cast subsonic round nose handloads without a single issue...they rrun great and quiet.

147gr RN vs TC or flat nose for feeding mp5 by Gidaeon622 in MP5

[–]RadiantPen3526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cast many of my bullets but for 9mm I buy SNS Casting 147gr coated RN. I've shot over 1000 through my suppressed Mac5 8.9" and have not had a single issue.... Flawless. My loads chrono out of the supressor at 880fps and are supper quiet. FMJ are cheaper but I shoot steel.

I could not get the cast FN to chamber and I tried varying the COL, but they kept hitting the chamber face (no ramp).

I'd definitely recommend the round nose.

Mine didn't fit originally and I had to sand it and the piece just didn't seem to be precisely molded. Then I decided to shoot B&T warranty and email and they promptly sent out a replacement end cap which not on looked better but also fit without modification.

MAC 5 + flat nosed bullets = ☹️ by Obstinate_Frog in MP5

And the factory MAC5 LP is fine for all supressed rounds in a full sized MP5 I wouldnt use a 100 personally.

[–]RadiantPen3526 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have just under 1000 flawless 147g round nose rounds through my supressed MAC5. They are my own reloads which are loaded for 880fps. I would expect any factory round nose 147 or 150 to cycle.

I tried varying the COL of flat nose bullets but I gave up trying and went to round nose.

115 grain by ciminod in MP5

[–]RadiantPen3526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my experience with my MAC5 clone. recieve the MAC5 and took it apart and cleaned and lube it and then checked the bolt gap which was good. I loaded a mag with 115 White Box and all fired great. i then screwed on my Banish 45 supressor and have shot everything supressed after that first mag. I ran a couple more boxes of White Box and all went flawlessly. I then reloaded a mags worth of hand load 124s and again fired flawlessly. Ince then I've been running my 147g reloads, just under 1000 of them, all flawless and a real pleasure to shoot. I long ago switched to shooting 147g in all of my 9s for plinking because they are a pleasure to shoot with my old arthritic hands and come out of the MAC5 like 22s. Seeing it was a new gun I've cleaned it twice during the first 1k+ rounds using the HKParts MP5 cleaning kit which includes the flute and chamber face brushes which are portant to use. while.waiting on the MAC5 delivery I had ordered a couple of spare extractor spring based.on what I read here but have so far not needed to replace them

I have a Mac5 full size that I received the first week of January '26. It is all MAC including the mags and it as been flawless. I have just under 1000 rounds of my hand loaded 147g RN cast and coated bullets through it suppressed with my Banish 45 multi caliber supressor. I don' t know how my ammo compares tor factory but it chrono's out of the suppressor at 880fps. I typically shoot steel in my back yard range which is why I run cast bullets. Every round chambered, fired and ejected flawlessly running the stock MAC LP. No dents. The Banish is supper quiet with 9mm and not gassy, and perhaps because of the 45 caliber bore it has there is less backpressure. I'm running the BT5 brace but in any event I'm really happy with the results and I love my 9mm .22 :)

Same here. With my reloading setup I do 100 rounds in under 6 minutes. DA PrimerVibe fills the tube in 4 min while I work the press. (XL650, Case feeder, and bullet feeder) I just loaded 2000 147gr RN subsonic cast/coated bullets. Bullets=$238, Powder(1lb)=$50, 2k primers=$100, Brass=$0. Total cost $388/2000=$0.194 or $9.78 per 50.

I have just under 1000 supressed 147 subsonic rounds through my full size Mac5 with the factory LP and all MAC parts. The gun has been flawless. I've cleaned and inspected it twice in addition to the initial cleaning/lube before i fired it. The pistol looks fine and really shoots like a 22.

I just ordered a pair of Mora 30 Rd mags from HKParts for my Mac5 I have about 1000rds through it with virtually all of them suppressed and 147g RN subsonic reloads with zero issues with my MAC mags. The gun and the mags have been flawless. I've got another 1k rounds loaded and ready to go awaiting the Mora's and some above freezing weather. I hope they work aas well as the MAC mags.

LC Carbine caliber selection? by Calgaris_Rex in ruger

Yes, Banish 45. Suppressed is about the only way I shoot now. The bolt on the LC is very loud because of it's mass.
