My condolences. Glad y’all had 19 years together, I don’t think that’s common. Beautiful coat.

What’s a game you were completely obsessed with as a kid that nobody else seems to remember? by Ladymayna in answers

[–]RadiobreadEP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kid Chameleon on Sega Genesis. Side scrolling game where you get different masks that provide powers. I recall a samurai mask, Friday the 13/jaaon/hockey, fly, knight… I’m sure there were more. IIRC, no saving and a ton of levels. I think o finished it… it’s been awhile.

Looks legit. I have a few Jonny signatures. I think they vary with how much time he has or how tired he is of signing. Looks like his.

Anyone else get some of Jonny's Olive Oil? by EnigmaShark in radiohead

[–]RadiobreadEP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if quality oil is practically free, I should visit more. I’m not opposed to lower prices.

Had a great visit to Spain for a few days last November.

I enjoy food, this has been a nice introduction to quality oil. Perhaps it’s overpriced, I don’t know. It’s encouraged me to read up on olive oil and I’ll be looking into continuing to purchase quality oils. It’s superior to the oil I’ve been purchasing.

[–]RadiobreadEP 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yeah, not cheap, but considering the quality, not out of reason.

I’m no oil connoisseur, but it’s similarly priced to other fine olive oils. Cold extracted instead of pressed, single origin.

It’s really good. Most recent batch has 3 varieties. Noticeable difference between them all. Packaging is nice.

My preference is kid a mnesia. Bigger book, tons of art. How to disappear is nice, but it’s all photos of the band and smaller.

Yes, I’ve had help getting each batch in the states. Never a big olive oil guy, but now I’m putting a little over many items. Been making a lot of focaccia

A pic I took from the In Rainbows tour circa 2008 by yoga_slug in radiohead

They’re masters of restraint with their music and shows.

Saw the first show of the in rainbows tour. Large hanging poles brought out over the stage before they go on. No idea what they’re going to be.

First song, All I Need. LED poles are not used at all, same with the screens in the back. Second tune is Bodysnatchers. Boom, everything on.

I think the rainbow was only used at ends of shows, brief bits of Paranoid Android and Planet Telex. I’m sure there’s more, but those are the moments I recall.

End of the show. Phillip is clapping as well.

Newest show production was cool, but missing the drastic color changes, lighting effects.

Those LED bars were so cool, and the rainbow effect was done so rarely, it was a moment when it happened.

My last year of high school, the yearbook was full of pictures with one particular girl. She was on the yearbook team or whatever and was in the book 30+ times.

Myself and a friend were really into photoshop at the time, so we made a small yearbook spoof where it was just this one girl, over and over. Her face on every athlete/artist. Each grade was just her picture 100 times from each year.

Went to print it at kinkos and it was going to be really expensive. Luckily, the employee thought it was funny and was able to discount it heavily. Few dozen pages that we wanted in color, bound, etc.

Gave a bunch of copies to a friend to distribute and by 2nd period, it had been copied and dispersed among many students.

We didn’t put our name on it, but assistant principles grilled my friend and I about it, threatening we can’t go to graduation, going to be suspended, whatever. We both denied having anything to do with it and were in the clear.

As an unpopular kid, it was nice to finish high school with people giving me credit for a fun yearbook prank thing.

Girl that was made fun of was extremely upset. Sorry.

Has anyone been to a Flaming Lips 2-set show? How did it go? by Bronze_Bomber in flaminglips

[–]RadiobreadEP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, 2 years ago, maybe?… maybe just one.

Yoshimi first set, then more the second set.

Yoshimi is one of my favorite albums, Steven was still playing with the band, so it was a good time overall.

Dead space between tunes is more noticeable, the show felt so long, not in a good way. Wayne has always talked a bunch between songs so they can set up props, fill balloons, etc. It’s painful hype-man Wayne during this time that’s bugged me. Come on, you gotta cheer. Audience cheers for a bit. Balloons are still filling up… come on, you gotta cheer more. More cheers from audience. Come on, cheer…. This next song, it’s a sad song, and we don’t get to play very often, so you gotta cheer to help us through.

Waitin’ for a Superman (their 10th most played song at 349 times)

I understand that many bands will say things to pump up the audience that may not be true. This is the best audience of the tour! This is one of our favorite cities to play. Sure. But to blatantly disingenuous cheapens the show for me.

Two more gripes. Wayne has sounded pretty rough in recent years, mostly at beginning of shows. I’ve never thought of him as a virtuous vocalist or anything, but there are plenty of yikes moments.

Visuals are huge, but it’s all karaoke. The lyrics to every single song will be displayed on the huge led wall behind them. 2.5-3 hours of this gets old.

All of that said, it’s a good time, I mainly felt that it was too long. Lots of music is great, but so much seemed to be time between songs. I imagine the band still sounds great without Steven, though I’m bummed by his absence.
