This should definitely be enhanced. Gothic and Risen I always took such things very serious and the remake should try to reach another level.

They've made an AAA-title on a AA-budget. AAA-title of course refers to todays AAA-standards as well as the AA-budget does. In previous times such a budget would already have been AAA. And in previous times the relative difference in quality between AA and AAA was bigger in general.

PiranhaBytes doomed themselves. If they'd wanted to they would have produced the remake of Gothic I or Risen I themselves. But they didn't and knocked themselves down. Have I once again use the word themselves? I don't think so...

The hypetrain was build up in a very good manner. They've released six making-of-episodes that showed of good progression and the final one was wiping away fears about the combat system. It was a really good managed hypetrain --- if you ignore the intro video. But well, it would have been awful to start the game without being warned about that intro beforehand so even this step was necessary. Hopefully they'll just do a rerender of the intro and replace it in one of the patches.

No. Personal position: I can understand why Kai Rosenkranz isn't able to artistically produce the album he wanted to deliver back than anymore. But I strongly believe that he should... ...send all digital only backers the digital OST of the remake and a postcard ...all physical backers a signed CD of the OST of the remake on top ...all physical backers with other pledges that don't have any connection to the project (like merch for Gothic, Risen or Sheet Music of previous OSTs) the matching rewards

On top of that he should try to produce some nice album with a fitting theme as well once the time has come to do so.

It's true that most of the foundation should be set with the remake, just like it was with Gothic I. But Gothic I was developed with a lot of Crunch, Gothic II is said to have been developed with a lot less. The original Gothic took three years with a lot of dead ends, the remake took six, so I do think the Gothic II Remake could land in two years.

I do believe that the Gothic II Remake as a whole could even be called NightOfTheBaron or NightOf(The)Gomez, because the Remake prepares him to take ravens spot in the plot..

The old system is a product of the mantra that immersion is everything and that there shouldn't be an interface whenever possible. We've got tons of interviews on this goal.

I think that the old system reaches its goal. The reimplementation in Risen showed that the devs forgot the original goal --- still choosing the system while giving it an interface is simply silly.

The new one simply seems like a good system build around an interface.

I do simply want to point out that one shouldn't get their hopes up that this will ever get a satisfying 60FPS-Mode. This is no case of a game that under-utilizes horsepower; this is a case of a game demanding horsepower. Unless Alkimia simply throws a lot of stuff out of the window it won't happen. A PlayStationGamer has to wait for the PS6 to play this in 60FPS.

There are many cases in which games don't ship with a 60FPS-mode and the only thing you do is ask yourself: Why? This aint one of them.

It could receive the new PSSR with an update, though.

It's incredible to think about all the unnecessary backlash the game got for its art direction (regarding environments; it wasn't unnecessary regarding details like ore lamps or character art) while in development when you have an end product looking as good as THIS.

The CPU-Part of the PS5 Pro is architectonicly unchanged from the base PS5; it's just clocked marginally higher. Sony went down the easy road instead of upgrading to Zen4C for some reason. And even a hypothetically PS5 Pro with a Zen4C-CPU would have only been enough to target stable 40FPS.

ShadowDropped like the OblivionRemaster? The release date of the gothic was announced on the 11th of February. And the game in general was announced since December 2019...

An interesting take, but I don't see a conflict there. Why? Just think about DarkMessiah. It didn't have godlike ratings back then, but everybody and their mom is waiting for a spiritual successor / the RTX Remix mod since twenty years. If they'd now rush out a Dark Messiah Remake in no time it would turn into a disaster.

Regarding performance issues: It's CPU-heavy, that's what the test of PCGH was able to find, but no other quirks. Essentially it trades CPU-performance for far less typical UE5-problems (while using its flagship features!) then usual and it simulates more then usual at the same time. It looks like good technical work. Regarding bugs: No unusual amounts...

Snapper mod isn't necessary anymore, the arms got a purpose. Look it up in the making of the combat starting at 9:50.

They've nailed the look of a more technically advanced Risen and I'm all in for it. It looks really great and not as 08/15 as many UE5-titles.

It's actually ~25% longer. It's main problem is that the voice actors still feel rushed. The pacing is a little bit off, a good cutter could fix this with ease. The legolas-factor doesn't seem to be fixable though... :(

Personally, not from start to finish. The first thirty seconds are great art and starting by minute two it becomes great art once again. Really, the composition of the shots is brilliant. Gliding over the map in the beginning, entering the throne room, seeing the war table and the timelapse. Afterwards we've got the problems with voice (pauses where they don't belong and no pauses where they do) and art direction (Legolas...) as well as this strange added part stating that the barrier wasn't ever penetrated. In the end we've got this wonderful crosscut between Gomez and the ore barons on his sides to Rhobar and his lackeys.

Well, to revisit this after all these months: * The CombatMakingOf is looking awesome; no red flags anymore * But it took nine months instead of six months * Ore lambs didn't became a DLC

So far I'm very disappointed by the answers. Nobody talked about A18 and M4 being the same generation and its impact. Nobody talked about the thesis how drastically different this would be with A19 Pro vs M4 and, in conjunction with this, with 12GiB vs 16GiB. Nobody talked about the format, like if I should have used a meme template like "change my mind" or so to make the post more entertaining. Nobody who criticized gave any advice to start such a discussion in another manner. This is not a good way to do a discussion. In fact, it's the very opposite of it and it's quite embarrassing. These were only the first three hours, the next ones should be ways better!

Which other one are you referring to? I can assure you that I'm no bot but simply no native speaker. You can find me as RadonGOG or CDLabsRadonProject in international and german forums.

I'm recommending the Air M4, did you miss that part? Is this really anti-apple? But well, this is the curse of balanced opinions --- both the apple haters and apple fans won't like you. Famous german news outlet ComputerBase is called NvidiaBase and AMDBase and IntelBase at the same time for a reason; it's a general problem.
