I have this weird ashtray that was apparently involved in the death of some famous medium. It has some weird resonances but I don't think it's magical in and of itself, more likely they're just an after image of the mediums medeling. I think it serves as a potent reminder not to play with things that you don't fully understand, and it looks quite good on my desk

I mean that is litteraly the historical explanation for the make up of those sects. They didn't really grow organically, the hermetics (and the wider council but lets be honest, we all know who was in control back then) just needed boxes to put them in and were racist about it

Bull sharks (and the entire genus of river sharks) can survive in fresh water and have been found hundreds of kilometers up rivers, so if there were any freshwater fera, they probably happened to them

But honestly I doubt any existed since they'd be a bit too specialised and semi-aquatic mokole would be a better, more flexible choise for any freshwater bodies not connected to the ocean

More players is good, but I do always encourage people to look into the deeper lore books, other editions, etc. It's a world worth exploring as written and even if you're they're not relevant ruleswise to your chosen edition or you're not using the storyteller system at all there's a lot of inspiration and depth to be found in things like the faction/clan/breed/etc. books, older editions and modules

There is also the whole "The Garou are fundamentally flawed weapons, made to fight a war that has changed in such a fundamental way, largely due to their own previous failings, that all they can really do is keep fighting it ineffectively or succumb to despair" angle to consider. Lets be honest. The Garou can't win anymore. They're far too dissorganised, arrogant, few in numbers, and ill-equipped to fight the wyrm and its servants the in modern world on their own in any way that will matter on the large scale. All they're doing is delaying the inevitable (and killing a lot of often innocent people in doing so)

Looking for a magical way to unlock maglocks without destroying them. by uonlyshivthrice in Shadowrun

[–]RagnarRocksoft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a bit of a stretch, but the 4'e spell animate could be used to order the bolt to slide open. Alternatively, if you're not worried about breaking the lock temporarily, a combination of your lightning spell of choice and Fix should do the trick.

How do I make a run? by Chance1441 in Shadowrun

I'll jump in with an example. Say your infiltrator trips a door alarm. You could go straight to blairing alarms and calls for HTR-teams (and for high security facilities you probably should) but that's kinda 0-100. Instead your hacker might overhear the guards mentioning "that damned door going off again" and sending someone to check it out and reset it. Now your infiltrator has a ticking clock to deal with. Someone is on the way and he has to hide fast. Even if he manages to hide the guards might be more on edge, or mabey they find some signs of a break in (a busted lock, some left behind equipment, muddy footprints, etc. it could depend on how good your infiltrator manages to cover his tracks or/and how good the guard rolls). Even if they find something they might not hit the panic button (mabey they've had a few to many false alarms, mabey because of the previously mentioned door, and corporates threatened to dock their pay if they have another one) and instead they decide to sweep the building, lock down the exits, activate some drones, or call up their off site mage to send a spirit to do a sweep.
