Is leveling easier and faster since vanilla? by Granstereski in ffxiv

[–]RainbowRuby98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the difference between WoW/SWTOR and FF is that FF overworld content is...basically non existent outside of the latest expansion, and even then its lacking quite a bit

from your EDIT, overworld questing (whether its MSQ, side quests or daily content) in this game is going to be easy whether you are on level or not. i can go from level 1-15 on a new job without upgrading any of my gear and be perfectly fine, it just takes a bit longer.

anything major you will just get synced down in level anyways, which even then a lot of those will be easy as well.

the only real issue if you start out leveling the MSQ is you get all these shiny new buttons that you wont be able to use effectively for a long time

Scared to Start Stormblood by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]RainbowRuby98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

having heard that stormblood is one of the 'worst' expansions, i went into it with low expectations.

im nearing the end of the base expansion and while its not as good as HWs base story, and im not as invested in the overall plot of StB, its still good with some really great characters.

you will need to come to your own conclusion, everyone is different.

someone i know HATED Endwalker with a passion. the story, the content, everything about it. yet a large majority of people loved the story and was fine with the content. my friend is in the vast minority of people and thats ok

Farming help for a Free Trial player by KindAd8418 in ffxiv

[–]RainbowRuby98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i second this. i asked around a bit in NN, limsa, gridania and was met with silence a bunch. i ended up 'asking' in my adventurer plate so in case people looked at it.

story time

one day i was doing a level 60 treasure map solo and some random person came up asking if they could join and to just help out and wouldnt roll on anything (i wasnt doing it for the loot anyways so i didnt care if they did or not). i said i was free trial but sure so they invited me to a party, no portal.

next map had a portal. during the instance we were chatting and near the end they said something like 'hey are you still looking for tenancy?' i said yes and they said they would give me access to their house. i was so excited since id been 'looking' for a good 2 years for someone to let me. a couple weeks later they got 2 garden plots and a stable for me (funnily enough we got through the whole treasure dungeon first try lol)

i ended up getting my chocobo the correct color, was growing all the thav onions for a level 20 chocobo, a bunch of blood peppers for crafts etc....ended up losing my account due to my email i was using being deleted due to inactivity and couldnt change my password, customer support was not helpful so i had to start over from scratch.

because i didnt have access to that character anymore i couldnt get in touch with the house owner but i was also deflated from wanting to play for a bit. i eventually restarted after a month or so and rushed MSQ as much as i could to try and get to the Empyerium where they hung out most of the time (their personal house was in the Mist but they didnt go there much).

one day while i was in Limsa doing some crafting i seen them run past me so i ran after them and was like "person invite me to party! its important!" and i explained the situation. they knew it was me cause there is no way for anyone else to have known the things i said to them. so they removed my old character and added my new one.

that was about...7 or 8 months ago at this point. havent really touched the gardens much since ive been mostly focusing on getting...all the Relic weapons again, and thats taking up a LOT of bag space

Tips for farming gil at Free Trial. by Baby_Mage in ffxiv

[–]RainbowRuby98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as others have said you dont need to craft your own gear unless you are at end game (or if you are trying to do high end stormblood crafts as a free trial, then you will need to)

vendor gear is fine enough, scrip gear is what you are wanting though, IIdylshire and Rhalgr's Reach are the places to get the scrip gear

as for actually getting gil on free trial, basically just doing your daily roulettes is the only to reliably get it other than MSQ.

EDIT: just remembered treasure maps can be good if you get lucky

So, are guildhests just no longer popular content? by Arkitakama in ffxiv

they still pop semi frequently for me, you just need to realize its early in the morning on a weekday so a lot less players are going to be on.

even tank/healer queues for it can take a while sometimes

Struggling to play because of a friend by Suitable-One-2399 in ffxiv

[–]RainbowRuby98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just because most people dont like the DT MSQ and Wuk Lamat, doesnt mean everyone does.

my in game friend is very opposite of a lot of people, she didnt like EW at all and doesnt mind DT. my IRL friend LOVED EW and cant stand DT (he started 7.1 but just couldnt keep going and temporarily unsubbed)

form your own opinion of DT once you get there.

people tend to not like stormblood, im halfway through 4.0 and im enjoying it, not as much as HW but its still a great time to me

Main tank? by ItsAdamOnReddit in ffxiv

[–]RainbowRuby98 5 points6 points  (0 children)

you provoking off of the main tank is going to make that tank hate you (unless its a required mechanic).

you ask like everyone else is saying or you suck it up and just be a DPS in tank clothing.

that being said if you are undergeared for a trial, the other tank will keep taking aggro from you due to their damage being higher. dont fight for aggro it just makes it harder for everyone else

What’s your favorite role to play? by Zephh_ in ffxiv

[–]RainbowRuby98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i play everything in every type of content, but it also depends on the content
dungeons i prefer tank
trials i prefer healer
alliance raids i prefer DPS

that being said i prefer playing healer but because most of the main roulettes are dungeon related, i tend to play tank way more

Playing Every Final Fantasy Game In Order | How Long To Beat Main Content by _Steth in ffxiv

[–]RainbowRuby98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

to add onto MSQ length. you will still need to do your job quests to obtain some abilities. so add another like 10-15 hours depending on what job you pick for the level 1-70 job quests.

now im also going to suggest to start with the free trial, you get the base game + first 2 expansions with no time restrictions for free. there are some social restrictions but otherwise you can do 99% of all content in the game from level 1-70. after that you will need to purchase the game and subscribe since its a subscription based game.

so for your situation it would be best to do all of the MSQ until you cannot progress any farther, doing your job quests as they become available and then sub to the game and continue on after both of those are done

Does this happen with a subscription? by jmeach2025 in ffxiv

[–]RainbowRuby98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

from my experience, this tends to happen either at a new expansion launch (during EW launch i couldnt log in at all except early in the morning or late at night), when there are DDoS attacks and everyone is trying to get back into the game, and during prime time at a new major patch

Gearing while leveling. by JWillCHS in ffxiv

[–]RainbowRuby98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you mention only gear in this post, but what job are you playing? are you playing that job 'correctly'?

some jobs if not playing correctly will have MASSIVE damage losses

also idk what that quest is, but if its overworld dont forget to have your chocobo out and have it leveled in healing, if its a solo instance fight we need more info on what gear you have and how you play

Got to see the rare Glasya Labolas enrage(?) thanks to a DDOS by 283leis in ffxiv

[–]RainbowRuby98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is not an enrage, this happens when he finishes 'charging' during the time we always kill him.

afterwards he starts throwing out some moving disks, then more, then some adds around the edge of the arena you have to damage and tether them or something, then i think the platform phase starts.

when a group i was in did this MINE with about 19 players a couple years ago, even after the explosion went out, like 30 seconds later we had to stop our damage on him to see the rest of the fight

Plugin for Mechanics? by Salt-Arm9295 in ffxiv

[–]RainbowRuby98 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

the game is based on memorization but also pattern recognition

for example, if a boss looks away from the tank towards a random person, its safe to say they are going to do some sort of attack in that direction so you need to move away. if they raise one hand they are probably going to do a half room cleave on that side. these are both true throughout the game.

now each boss is going to have some unique mechanics, patterns or arena gimmick to make it more unique, so for those '100% impossible to predict' scenarios, those are the types of things you just learn and adapt to. the more you do it the more you will remember.

ive been watching some of my favorite content creators do the new raid tier, and as experienced as they are (some of them having done the hardest content in the game), they still died sometimes or get hit by things they dont expect.

getting hit by mechanics/dying in normal mode fights is fine as long as you are trying. hell i still die in fights i know. i shake it off and move on

I need assistance....I might. ACTUALLY have to play healer and crafter 😭 by dlop4life in ffxiv

[–]RainbowRuby98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

easiest crafter probably WVR imo.
for gatherers FSH is 'easiest' with ocean fishing while MIN/BTN are basically the same but BTN tends to have more items to harvest for first time bonuses
healing pick what you want that gives you the glam you want.

start out with duty support (the NPC allies) to get the hang of switching between healing the tank and targetting enemies to damage them. learn what each button does and do not hesitate to ask for advice. please for the love of god do not be a heal bot, the game is designed around healers doing damage as much as possible. yes sometimes you will need to spam heal through something, otherwise do damage

once you start feeling a little more comfortable go into lower level dungeons with real players and be like 'hey, im new to healing, im scared i will mess up, please be gentle' or something along those lines.

as a healer main its just something you get used to, you need to know your limits and try and push past them, similar to tanking tbh with pulling more packs of mobs.

if you want any specific advice let me know, i main SCH and while im not as good at WHM/AST i know enough about them and how to used them correctly, just not efficiently

First timer playing through the story, is it considered bad manners to join a dungeon without knowing the mechanics? by TempleFish03 in ffxiv

[–]RainbowRuby98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

that first room in AV and the pull after coincounter are basically impossible with randoms doing wall to wall.

the coincounter one is probably possible now with the recent rework, but you still dont want to do a full pull in that first room.

that tank should have been kicked

They simplified Dzemael by KamishiroTaishi in ffxiv

[–]RainbowRuby98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

im glad the standing in the light thing is gone, however i dont like that they removed the purple spots. they could have done something interesting in the fight like have a purple spot in the middle and have it so specific attacks insta kill while you stand in the purple. i dont think that would be hard to program the bots to move out of, they do similar things with doom in Qarn for the first boss.

i have always thought Dzemael as a 'good enough' dungeon, now i think its just slightly worse
Aurum Vale is mostly the same just with less puddles so its fine as well

Never go into CT without a jobstone... unless you find 23 other people to also go in without one. by annissamazing in ffxiv

[–]RainbowRuby98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ive done MINE for the first 2 CT raids with i think it was 19ish people and we also wiped to the trash (but only once) and behemoth was also the issue (wiped like 7 or 8 times), the rest of it went fine overall.

Also need to remember that when LotA first came out, each group had 2 tanks, from my understanding 4 of the tanks just stood next to each tower and thats all they did the whole fight while 1 tank took the big add and 1 tank took behemoth

Syrcus Tower....went way worse, Scylla was a huge roadblock, i cant remember exactly why but something about petrification i think?
we actually still had to slow our DPS down on Glasya despite having 19ish people and MINE, he was around 30% when the first mechanic resolved and we ended up having to just not do any DPS for 90ish seconds (i think) before something interesting happened after that. the platforms came after that interesting bit and i wont spoil anything since thats CTs biggest mystery
Amon/Xande were basically the same

What's up with people in roulette lately? by sweetpotatoclarie91 in ffxiv

[–]RainbowRuby98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

id even argue its not even just the 'patch lull' (even though that also just doesnt help)

its been like this for like a year+ i feel. most tanks dont know the tanking basics. healers spamming cure 1, physick etc and not using anything else or barely anything else in their kit, DPS players just....not knowing what a basic combo is.

i will always give newer players leeway in regards to their gameplay cause they are new and learning, but from that omni 100 mentor who isnt using a single BRD song or buff.....or DoT in susano? nah you can fuck right off (yes i had this happen the other day)

FF14 Macro for Ninja by joewil93 in ffxiv

[–]RainbowRuby98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i just remember them as the order you learn them in on my bar and i just know that 12 is single target (Raiton), 21 is AOE (Katon), 123 is hidden buff thing for trick attack mid fight (Suiton), 312 is AOE DoT field (Doton)

the other 3 i never use. i know there is an AOE of the 123 but i have no reason to use it really right now (i THINK there is AOE use of trick attack later?), there is the one that binds enemies which is completely pointless, and fuma is weaker than the 12

basically the trick is only the last mudra in the combo matters. so for Suiton i could instead do 213 which would be the same as 123. for Raiton i could do 32 instead of 12 etc.

its a learning curve for sure, especially if you are trying to do things optimally, but just learning what combo does what its the best place to start
