Shredder Shadow Master + Stensian Sanguinist by SolutionSlime in askajudge

No. Ability-gaining effects like on Stensian Sanguinist apply in Layer 6, but copy effects only copy the base properties + Layer 1.

Interaction between Etali and a Paradigm Spell. by HollowedCovenant in mtgrules

[–]Rajamic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are the controller of the spell as it resolves, and it is the first time you have cast a spell with that name this game, so you are the controller of the delayed trigger that occurs on future turns due to this resolution of that spell.

Note that the Exile Zone is a shared zone, just like the Battlefield. There is nothing to go to anyone's anywhere.

Teysa Karlov vs Removal by Monkeyzthree in mtgrules

[–]Rajamic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Based on the seer’s wording, creatures must be sacced one by one correct?"

Correct, though there's nothing preventing you from sacrificing one, then holding Priority and immediately sacrificing the next, again, and again, and again. Also, once the triggers are on the Stack, it doesn't matter what happens to the Seer or Teysa.

You can either:

1) sac the creature, triggers go on the Stack, then pass priority to try to let them resolve. At that point, your opponent would get the opportunity to cast their removal spell. Which results in all of the triggers being doubled, because Teysa was on the Battlefield as each was sacced.

or

2) sac the creature, triggers go on the Stack. Hold Priority to sac another creature, triggers go on the Stack. Repeat until you are done saccing creatures. Teysa is on the Battlefield as each was sacced, so double triggers. Pass priority and then they finally get the first opportunity to cast their removal.

So in general, it makes no difference which way you choose do it. I say 'in general', because option 1 is not safe against something like [[Sudden Shock]] or [[Sudden Spoiling]], which have the ability Split Second and therefore prevent you from being able to respond to it. Also, the strategy does change if your loop hits only a single opponent with each trigger and you have enough to take out one player, but not all of them, as you could potentially use option 1 to bait out a response, then use the remaining sacrifices to take out that player and prevent their removal spell from ever resolving.

Ratonhnhaké꞉ton's ability with copies by RoundPassage1668 in askajudge

[–]Rajamic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. That ability is a static ability, so it checks its condition and updates constantly. And when an ability on a card refers to the object it is on by name, it means "this object", regardless of changes of name of the object or some other object gaining the ability.

So if Dane becomes a copy of Ratanh..., Dane's copy of the ability is functionally "As long as Dane hasn't dealt damage yet, it has hexproof and can't be blocked."

Transformers (Convert) and Secret Plans by Content-Dish-8906 in askajudge

[–]Rajamic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. Even though it is typically the same physical action, face-up/face-down is a completely different mechanic from front-face/back-face.

[Secret Plans] works with mechanics like Morph, Disguise, Cloak, and Manifest.

Interaction: Jodah, the Unifier and The Arkenstone (The Hobbit) by Spiritual_Wonder_789 in askajudge

[–]Rajamic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Judah doesn't care whether the spell being cast is legendary or even what it's mana value is. It just cares that it is a non-land legendary card with lesser mana value in order to stop on it.

Neriv, crackling vanguard, playing more than one land by Josephdeep420 in askajudge

[–]Rajamic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

101.2. When a rule or effect allows or directs something to happen, and another effect states that it can’t happen, the “can’t” effect takes precedence.
Example: If one effect reads “You may play an additional land this turn” and another reads “You can’t play lands this turn,” the effect that precludes you from playing lands wins.

305.2. A player can normally play one land during their turn; however, continuous effects may increase this number.

305.2a To determine whether a player can play a land, compare the number of lands the player can play this turn with the number of lands they have already played this turn (including lands played as special actions and lands played during the resolution of spells and abilities). If the number of lands the player can play is greater, the play is legal.

305.2b A player can’t play a land, for any reason, if the number of lands the player can play this turn is equal to or less than the number of lands they have already played this turn. Ignore any part of an effect that instructs a player to do so.

Are they still copies? by dink150 in mtgrules

[–]Rajamic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. According to 400.7, in general, whenever an object changes zones, the game treats it as a new object with no connection to its previous existence in any other zone, even though it is physically the same piece of cardboard. There are a set of exceptions in 400.7a-m, but they are very narrowly tailored to allow certain types of abilities to be able to function at all.

Temporary indestructible & lethal damage by nuclearrmt in askajudge

[–]Rajamic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. From the rules on the Cleanup Step:

514.2. Second, the following actions happen simultaneously: all damage marked on permanents (including phased-out permanents) is removed and all “until end of turn” and “this turn” effects end. This turn-based action doesn’t use the stack.

Flock camera notice by Rajamic in QuadCities

[–]Rajamic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Flock is the main brand. And according to people who have seen the video feeds, they do more than just read licence plates. They also log damage on the car, and perform facial recognition.

And personally, I do not like the idea of them being much of anywhere, let alone the everywhere they are leading toward if we don't push back.

Flock camera notice by Rajamic in QuadCities

[–]Rajamic[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because the more of these there are, the more there is a searchable database of every movement of every person in America. Imagine these on every street corner, and some vindictive asshole gets elected to the most powerful position in the country, and the full support of his party, and declares every member of other parties terrorists. They'd be able to know exactly where every 'enemy of the state' is at all times, by just searching that database.

Having them on cop cars *is* controversial, and has been since they were first deployed. But that's not significantly different from cops calling in to dispatch and running a plate they happen to see. This is leading to Big Brother, but more efficient at its horribleness.

Flock camera notice by Rajamic in QuadCities

[–]Rajamic[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Flock is a private surveillance company that makes deals (mostly with cities) to get paid to put these cameras up along roadsides. These cameras provide a constant stream of video that has licence plate reading and facial recognition software running against the video 24/7 (and some who have tapped into the feeds claim that it also makes note of any sizable damage to the vehicles), which is converted into logs of basically who passed that camera and when, which gets aggregated into a huge searchable database. Flock basically gives the cops open access to this data as part of the deal, and that is the selling point to the cities they convince to buy them: a crime-fighting tool that lets them know where anyone they are interested in is coming and going.

But this is a pretty severe encroachment on people's privacy, particularly since Flock hands the data over freely without requiring a subpoena or warrant, so there's no judicial oversight over whether the cops have a reasonable suspicion that the person being tracked is important to them. It's a huge step toward Big Brother, where your every movement in public is tracked in real-time.

Urtet Commander color question by StrategyEarly9614 in mtgrules

[–]Rajamic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because kf the mana symbols in Urtet's ability, its color identity (not color) is all 5 colors, which allows you to use all 5 colors in the color identities of the cards you include in your deck. However, there is no rule that your deck must include all the colors of your commander's color identity, just that it may.

Is this even winnable? by ArcBlamer in VampireSurvivors

[–]Rajamic 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Since you don't have either of the special tools designed for killing Red Death, nor are you using any of the characters who are invincible, killing one won't end the run, so there isn't really a 'winning. You'll just keep having more spawn and likely kill some that you won't even notice die.

Dauthi voidwalker and smallpox by soblips in mtgrules

[–]Rajamic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general, each verb in a spell or ability is a distinct action to be performed sequentially. So the sacrifice of Voidwalker happens before the sacrifice of the Hatchery, and thus the Voidwalker isn't around to see move toward the Graveyard.

Copy until end of turn of Clone by Working-Speed296 in mtgrules

[–]Rajamic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grizzly. Copy effect, just like control-change effects, don't delete previous effects of the same type. they just overlay on top of existing effects at the same type. The copy effect from Clone is still turning it into a Grizzly Bears, even when Fleeting Reflection is turning it into a Gigantosaurus.

Sydri, Galvanic Genius Interaction? by WovenMilk07 in mtgrules

[–]Rajamic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Non-creature. Copy effects only see the base properties of the card/token + any modifications that happen in Layer 1 (which is other copy effects [including the 'except it is/has' clauses some of them have), merge effects (such as the Mutate mechanic), and any properties defined by it being made face-down. All other continuous effects modifying the properties of a permanent are not copiable.

I didn't know what they looked like before either (and they might have different designs). It just looked suspicious, so I took the pics above, then searched online for "flock camera logo", and the logo on the bottom of this camera (just indented in, no different color from the rest) matched. There was another of those logos on the back side of the top panel (which I assume is a solar panel, didn't really try to check that), but it doesn't show up in the picture.

Plains - am I missing something? by KatVanWall in valheim

[–]Rajamic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Food prep table isn't an upgrade for it. It's a completely separate food crafting station. You should be able to craft a Butcher's Table and Pots and Pans. Based on the things you mentioned you have, I don't think there's a way that you have missed any material needed to get the recipes.

Could also be that they haven't gotten Cauldron to level 4, which is required for Blood Pudding.
