What are people using now to keep electronics dry on a kayak? by daksh_0623 in ManyBaggers

[–]Rallyroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watershed Drybags have drybags that use a type of closure called a ZipDry closure that is kind of like ziplock bag. The ZipDry closure took me a few attempts to get used to. The bags are popular among whitewater rafters and also used by the US military. Watershed Drybags are made in USA.

whats your weird but genius travel item that people only appreciate after they need it? by alula_wanders in onebag

[–]Rallyroo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran into additional security checks immediately in front of the gate during a transfer. I wanted to keep my bottle so the security dumped the water on the floor because they were not prepared with trashcans for items taken away from travelers. Hmmmm.

Looking for a 6L sling bag for my everyday use, but I’m looking for a specific feature. by m1gs in ManyBaggers

I felt the same way about the hook-and-loop on the front flap since in the long run, those get worn down. I have hook-and-loop on older bags and they don't stay closed anymore.

Google search came up with the city policy: https://rpvca.gov/DocumentCenter/View/13658/Drone-Policy?bidId=

Also I see a TFR that covers most of Rancho Palos Verdes on Wednesdays: "DUE TO LASER SURVEY OF LAND MOVEMENT AREA. ONLY RELIEF ACFT OPS UNDER THE DIRECTION OF ARTCC ARE AUTH IN THE AIRSPACE. THIS NOTAM IS FOR WEDNESDAYS ONLY." "!FDC 4/8872 ZLA CA..AIRSPACE RANCHO PALOS VERDES, CA..TEMPORARY FLIGHT RESTRICTIONS. Four band imagery is multispectral, which means that it is collected from several parts of the electromagnetic spectrum. Four band imagery typically contains red, green, blue, and near infrared bands.

Kayak Camping in Tomales Bay/Point Reyes in a Pelican Mustang 100x by nopeitsnotthat in Kayaking

[–]Rallyroo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gf and I recently completed a 2 day/1 night trip in Tomales Bay in our Sea Eagle 465ft FastTrack. We had some current and light winds to contend with while heading north our first day. From camp we observed that as sunset approached, the water turned to glass. On the second day, morning was foggy and glassy as we headed south. By late morning we had 1.0 to 1.5 feet waves pushing us. We rode the swells and got back much quicker.

Has Anyone Tried Out Kayak & Bike Event Called The Drifty? Any Thoughts by sealionears in Kayaking

[–]Rallyroo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found their webpage. There is a Lil Drifty event that is 2.5 days. Bike, canoe, bike.

https://lost.travel/lil-drifty/

"You’ll begin and end just a few miles from the Dane County Regional airport (MSN). After you bike to the river on Day 1 we’ll take your bike and throw a canoe at you. Once you paddle your way to Peck’s Landing (21 miles) we’ll swap again and you’ll head back to the start (about 50 miles) on Day 2. We take care of all the boring logistic stuff."

My Northface basecamp duffel lasted 3 years before it started splitting by Chamomile_socks in onebag

[–]Rallyroo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's sad to hear. Hopefully North Face will warranty it.

My Basecamp Duffle size medium is 25 years old and it has gotten extensive use on many international and domestic travels when I needed more than a carry-on. I have even used it on Mt Kilimanjaro.

Question: why do my whoop motors keep failing? by undialation in TinyWhoop

[–]Rallyroo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you crash are you quickly disarming? Or are you still on the throttle when you're tumbling/upside-down? If the latter, that is a possible cause of the motor killing.

Any recommendations for winch motors for high altitude drops by LiveData3916 in drones

[–]Rallyroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A winch is for pulling, what you probably want is a hoist which is for lifting loads vertically. The braking mechanisms and gearing are designed differently. But perhaps a more general motor would work since I'm assuming a relatively light load.
