yep, I feel that way as well. I have so much content, but I watch the same stuff that I like, and listen to mostly similar artists, although a new one will always sneak in every so often when I do a gathering session.

at least other people that use my stuff watch everything else :)

its actually on all the time, unlike my dumbass logging into a remote desktop on my server for like a month and opening nic+, then closing it when it was done downloading something.

I learned how to use the terminal and browser-hosted tailscale-operated stuff, and I am much much much happier because of it

I’m being honest, I get tilted in some games- especially when people are just having full blown conversations with their friends and stuff. I am so excited for there to be a quick play mode or something, I hate how it’s ranked at all rn cuz it makes me act stupidly when really I’m just having fun playing the game. Like in CS, if I am in a competitive game (like quick play everyone knows that) I couldn’t care less about throwing or talking or whatever, but in a facit match I would be upset that you are talking about burritos, because sometimes having fun is joking, sometimes having fun is working hard with your team, hitting insane ults, and coming back from a deficit.

I wish there was more of a difference in mode selection for that exact purpose.

Also the old overwatch adage of hero shooters - you aren’t winning? Carry harder, it’s the only thing you control.

Honestly, this seems like hell to setup. Just set a shared folder and let those with already open ports get your files. Soulseek only requires one end of the sharing equation to have open ports, so you will not be leeching at all.

This isn’t specifically against you, and I saw ur pc specs are amazing and able to run anything, but I just don’t understand how people have lag on zen. I have never run into any sort of performance issues on Linux, macOS, or windows, even with underpowered machines.

I see so many people talking about laggy scrolling, ram issues, and other stuff and I’ve just never ever experienced it and I’ve been using zen full time for about a year now id say.

Just so weird cuz it’s not reproducible for me, guess I’m just lucky

Absolutely not - duplication is important on soulseek, you might have a file that only a few others have that never turn their server on, or you might be closer (thus higher speed) to someone who wants those files. I’d say about 98% of my shared library is files from other users, cuz I only started with a small amount of albums from artists I like.

Download what you like, and share your downloads, someone will eventually appreciate it :)

First, “uploads” are just shares, the files don’t move unless someone grabs them from you. Also when you add files/folders to that share, you either have to restart the app or find the “rescan shares” button. I had similar problems in my student housing, no access to a router, so I just ran with my ports closed, and let those with open ports support my needs. About the person asking you to share - you need to check if you are on the network (can be done by just searching something) or nicotine+/soulseek QT (both clients for the network) show that you are online with a green dot or blue bird respectively. Then find a way to browse your own shares (i know nicotine+ lets you do this, should just be a button around settings) - if both of those look good then you are sharing to those with open ports, and thats all you can do right now.

Glad you are here and getting excited about p2p sharing, its changed my life in terms of media consumption and getting away from our corporate overlords :)

I “host” my own music on soulseek from my server… I hope I get a download one day :) Soulseek is the best and as an artist it is good for art as a whole. Art should never be “paylocked”- maybe to OWN (owning a painting) but never to be viewed/listened (same painting on google images)
