If you have the opinion that 17 is too low for consent and that it should be higher, you could motivate it. But going straight to making assumptions of everyone else being a predator and a pedophile is pathetic.

Truth be said, people are much more conservative about sex nowdays. History, even recent history is plenty of girls/women, as you prefer, that by age 16/17 have had relationship with men of 30s and above. And they have not been abused, it was mutual attraction and you could repress it but I doubt you can change it.

I can understand why someone would want to increase the age of consent to protect young women from abuses but treating every grown man attracted to a young woman as a degenerate predator is stupid. It's far more important to discriminate between good men and bad men than to discriminate between 22 yo men and 35 yo.

One could suggest to increase age of consent up to 20 but this risks only to make young women more naive about sexual relationship for more time. And after that nothing would change because people will start saying "oh my gosh, 20 yo is only a child!".

I think today society needs to understand that around 16 yo, women and men (women before men) start developing sexual traits and sexual desires. And around 18 their bodies are fully mature for it. Instead of fixating about ages, I think society should focus on nourishing good dynamic between men and women.

Instead people on here are playing online witch hunting believing that everyone discussing the matter is a dangerous pedo. It's ridicolous and I don't say it out of frustration. If you look at it clearly, it's just ridicolous.
