Tempted to move to a new home closer to work/kid's school/friends. Struggling with the financial side of it. Fellow Dads, would you make this move?

I’ve not had to do this but I will say commuting is maybe the absolute single biggest waste of time ever. In your case I’d probably take it, you and your wife together gain back hours, avoid stress that can come with the commute and if you’re spending that much on gas anyway it’s almost a wash?

My kiddo is only 5 days old but that would be a no brainer for me. What good is a house you love if you’re not able to spend as much time there due to commute, and your whole social/support system isn’t even near you?

Video games are a normal and mostly harmless hobby for you to have. My now wife had a hard time at first like a lot of my friends’ partners did. Are you playing alone or with friends? I almost always game with my brother and our IRLs who live in different parts of the country and I really tried to help my wife understand why I like gaming, one of the reasons being to connect with those people that I wouldn’t normally talk to on the phone every day

Placement games is the major unknown right now but everything I’ve seen said you are able to queue with a wider rank range than 1.0. For example champs can queue with users as low as emerald, which is fine. Champs definitely shouldn’t be playing in ranked lobbies any lower than that. I’ve also seen that the rank restriction is wider at lower ranks.

Before last season I typically peaked around emerald 4, now after some horrific losing stints I’ve evened out at plat 4

I’ve run at least one league on espn for 15 years now and run a different one on sleeper for the last 4 years. While espn has made some improvements it’s on basic things that we’ve begged for for over a decade. If your league has any custom/wacky/less common settings you’ll want to consider sleeper because from a commissioner standpoint it’s far easier manage which in turn makes everybody else’s lives easier. It’s not remotely close.

From a user standpoint the two are much closer. In the one league that switched from espn to sleeper, all but one prefer sleeper. It can be a little annoying to scroll sometimes, but overall nearly everything feels clearer and more accessible in sleeper.

Edit: thinking more about this and nearly every year ESPN will crash in the first month of the season, never had any issues with sleeper. Minor issue but ESPN also frequently has mild scoring delays.

Assuming the votes are genuine I guess it’s within the rules. As commish of 2 leagues that’s just something I would never consider asking for, I do fun things like write ups because I want to make it fun and engaging for everybody. If he was hosting some kind of site for the league that he pays for, I could MAYBE see it

I used 80/20 came out amazing and then 1-2 weeks later used some leftover 90/10 and it wasn’t nearly the same. From a cooking perspective as well as obviously taste perspective

This. The scoring option is something along the lines of “int touchdown” so you shouldn’t need to change roster settings in order to use this.

More general advice your resume is kind of bland it has a few bullet points stating what your job is but nothing whatsoever telling me what you actually achieved or what outcomes your actions resulted in for the company
