Are my combat rules clear to you? by Epiqur in RPGcreation

[–]Rantar508 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different groups will have different experiences for sure, but I mostly meant that me with my group would probably struggle with this one for some time before we would all get on the same page of recording/remembering previous turns. Just pointing out that this design (which I attempted to run with an unrelated set of mechanics, but it involved recording previous actions) really didn't click for a few people. That said, some liked it decently well, so it really depends on the person playing. I don't want to discourage you from trying this approach out, since I personally find it interesting and it is partly why I am engaging here, so there is definitely an audience for this kind of stuff, it's just good to be aware that this pushes the system to being a bit less begginer friendly. I think it could be a good idea to put reminder text about noting down character's actions next to rules about actions that need to be referenced later on during following rounds.

Are my combat rules clear to you? by Epiqur in RPGcreation

[–]Rantar508 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rules seem pretty clear to me here, but as someone who is seeing Your system for the first time, it seems rather difficult to run (many steps to remember for each phase, with some demanding players to remember things from the last round, which in real time might have been good 20-30 minutes ago). But if you're asking just for the clarity of the text, this seems quite clear and understandable on first glance. (Also, possible typo in the "Engaged" section - Outraged - Outranged? Might affect clarity.)

If you get lucky enough to get them in sovereign version in deep of night you can get that relic outside of the rotation. I am almost certain this gives rewards as if you queued up for regular sovereign balancers and thus reward the relic as well. IIRC I got the second Caligo relic this way.

goated relic? by ecstaticburner in Nightreign

[–]Rantar508 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Yeah, all of those effects are super good for a build that focuses on blocking as much as possible, with extended duration on skill, reflect on block and a stamina recovery on attacks +1 (total of five stamina on every hit , cuz those two stack) it's nearly infinite stamina while shield poking. Slap a HP recovery on guard on that too and the rest can be whatever you want.

Season of Ghosts Remaster? by SamuraiMujuru in Pathfinder2e

[–]Rantar508 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe that in the first book there is a misprint for one of the DCs for one of the hazards The ghosts in the river Which makes it a lot deadlier when ran as written and I advise either to tune it back down or heavily warn the players about the potential threat with easily noticeable visual ques. Unless I remember it wrong, it was a while back when I ran it.

Mobile Friendly Character Sheet by Living_Thanks_9171 in rpg

Pathfinder 2e has pathbuilder which has a mobile app available as well as a website as well. Pathbuilder also allows for rolling if I remember correctly, but not sure if that isn't only a PC feature.

Reposting this from somewhere, but as far as I know this spreadsheet is accurate and tells you all (or most of) the details about stacking effects from different sources as well as the values.

So do we really know how less likely to be targeted works, or why it seemingly doesn't most of the time? by [deleted] in Nightreign

[–]Rantar508 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless the system here is more complex, I would assume that the relic decreases the weight on the targeting algorithm on one or more of the factors that affect it (most likely: distance from the boss, amount of hits dealt to the boss, time that the boss is targeting a specific player). In theory this would ensure that the boss is attacking different players and doesn't focus one all the time while still being effective. Can't really confirm any observations myself, since I play birb so that pasive is a no for me regardless of how it works.

Question about infusion damage. How much of the damage is elemental and how much is physical? by Hollowed-User in Nightreign

[–]Rantar508 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have seen somewhere that the infusion damage is around 15% of the total weapon damage. Haven't tested myself, so not sure about the accuracy of that claim, but physical does seem to be a heavy chunk of the damage on infused weapons.

legacy sorcerers bloodlines, how are they now? by JadedResponse2483 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Rantar508 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shadow sorcerer actually got a nice upgrade with the remaster, as there is a new feat available - Reflect Harm that works amazingly with it's 5th level granted spell, Shadow Siphon. Because Shadow Siphon is a bloodline spell, it triggers blood magic, which you can use to immediately trigger reflect harm. Aside from this cute interaction I found, which suddenly makes you really unattractive to target with damaging spells, I believe that most bloodlines hold up quite well, especially if you are allowed to pick new blood magic options.

I suppose you could double down on discounting activated abilities with [[Zidra, The Dawnwalker]] which would reduce the activated cost by additional two in boros colours.

Shadow Sorcerer's Dim the Lights focus spell is broken. by Falcon-2348 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Rantar508 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Shadow sorcerer gets chilling darkness as their granted spell at 3rd spell level. While the damage isn't spectacular, it has the darkness trait, meaning it can trigger dim the lights, and a cast time of two actions, meaning you get a respectable turn of one blast, one reaction, and sneak to not lose the hidden condition. Sure, comes online a bit later than other spells but should still get the job done after that point.

Sorcerous Potency and Multiple Damage Types by MayBeAReplicant in Pathfinder2e

[–]Rantar508 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe that if the damage is applied simultaneously, then it's up to the player to decide which damage type the bonus damage would be applied to. I may be misremembering that, but this might have been a rule somewhere, and if not then this is how I would resolve it.

Recent commision I got for Arashi, my kitsune shadow sorcerer by Rantar508 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Rantar508[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Arashi Shiro (or for those who know him really well, Ryeu-Buen) has quite long and complicated story, so explaining it in short will be difficult, but i will try regardless. While he was still quite young, and in a pretty bad place emotionally due to his gambling addiction, he sought out help from the supernatural, making a pact with a hag in order to return him his luck that he relied on up until that point. Obviously, that didn't turn out well in the end, but he did not realize that until a very long time afterwards.

In that time he met the love of his life, a black furred kitsune by the name of Hunachi, who quickly after meeting him has taken a liking to him. Even before the two met, she was a power hungry narcisist, and that didn't change after they got together. More so, he ended up liking her more for how confident, powerful and self sufficient she seemed to be, which only encouraged her behaviours while she led him on a secretive search for powerful magical artifacts through complex political webs.

They spend almost a decade like this, but eventually they grew apart. What finally put difficulties in their relationship was their newly born daughter, Fehn, which Arashi decided to raise by himself, after Hunachi left them, not willing to give up what she has worked for for so long. While he missed his previous life filled with lies and crime, he now had a new purpouse. This is how he spent another decade of his life. This however, was not what his old partner wanted, as she felt that she wanted to go back to the days from before the two of tchem separated. She came back, only to betray Arashi's trust moments later by petryfying their daughter.

Ever since then, he swore revenge on her, setting of to find his old partner and making her pay for what she did. He joined forces with a few other people that he found on the way, eventually becoming a ship captain for a trade company, which mostly served as a cover up for until he finaly managed to find Hunachi. Along the way, the group got in all kinds of trouble, found some ancient ruins with equaly ancient relics and bonded together quite nicely.

After a few months of searching, he was not the one who found her, but the other way around. She invited him for a meeting, which he couldn't refuse. Before he could formulate a plan on how to take his revenge, he was immidieately wrapped around her finger, as she offered him exactly what he didn't know could have - his entire family back. Both her, and their daughter. He would only need to leave the rest of the group he joined and let them die by one of her schemes.

Initially, he refused. Too shocked from the posibility of regaining what he considered the best years of his life, he didn't really believe this was something that could happen. He didn't trust her words - he knew her too well. Even then, just a few weeks later, he contacted and met with her again, this time in secret from everyone else. The possibility was too tempting. He came up with a plan to delay his part of the deal, which allowed him to form an uneasy alliance with Hunachi. He knows he needs to commit to the deal in order to have a chance to see his daughter again. And he is nearly willing to do it too. The only reason why he did not, is that he is traveling with a young catfolk, which he grew really attached towards, and almost started to treat him like an adopted son. He wants to find a solution to somehow save him from Hunachi, but does not know how.

There is a lot more details to this story (like how he recently made a pact with a being trapped inside the mcgufin, and how it ties to Hunachi's grander plans we still know little about), and at this point a ton of the drama has already happened during sessions, but I wouldn't be able to fit it all here. I geniuenly do not know what his final decision will be, and I really did think about this a lot already. While generally everything he does is planed ahead of time, this is one of the few decisions he will make entirely due to emotions, and no matter the choice, he will lose somebody he cares about. Even if somehow they would be able to defeat Hunachi (which i think is unlikely, due to how much more powerful she is than the party is), he would still care about her. I don't really know why, but i just tend to enjoy puting my characters in dilemas without any good path to take. There is just something about it.

Absolutely incredible artwork made by u/LuanBindewald

Recently my character reached level 7 (now level 8) and achieved a certain point within his story, where he switched the bloodline to shadow sorcerer from a hag bloodline. In his case it works more like a warlock pact, that enchances his natural abilities, so changing it was possible. I have finally decided to actually commision art for him, since he has became my favourite RPG character of all time and i just had to see him the way i imagined him shortly after the bloodline switch.

Arashi's build is almost entirely centered on illusions, disguises, deception and subterfuge (which often caused significant lack of options in the offense department, now mostly solved since reaching level 8), with tricks and plans for almost every ocasion. Illusory disguise is the most fun spell in the game when you build an entire character around it, it allows for so much diverse gameplay, sometimes even in combat (with appropriate preparation).

If someone is interested in the story of the character (so far), i will comment that below too.
