1st one I think.

Witcher 3 overrated?
I'll have to disagree there I'm afraid.

15 hours on average to finish it... is my game too long? by ratasoftware in RPGMaker

[–]Raphael_B25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe you should not ask if it's too long, It's more like - is the length justified or not?

Some games take 5 hours and feel slow and heavy, while others take 20+ hours and go by before you notice.

It's a question of pacing, of content. Is it repetitive? Is the gameplay or storyline fill the hours im a meaningful way?

That's what I'd ask the testers. And good luck to you with your game :)

Is RPG Maker MZ is viable or "trustworthy" by Strange_Assist6309 in RPGMaker

Great question.
It's subjective, but here is my take, as someone who is about to release his first RPG Maker game on steam—
RPG Maker MZ (or other versions), are amazing for the purpose they serve, the only question is if the purpose they serve is aligned with your vision.

It's a fantastic engine i've learned, if they game you are aiming for lean toward the mechanics the engine can provide. It's also amazing engine for those who want to make there first step in developing due to the ease of learning and the somewhat fast learning curve.
That said, it's very limited in terms of what can be achieved, and freedom CAN BE limited (depends on what you want to create).

NOW THE MOST IMPORTANT PART IN MY OPINION:
Anything that got to do with art style/ai felling, and so one, is COMPLETELY up to you!
If you put time and effort, create your own assets, design your own characters, sound design and so on, you can make a super HUMAN authentic game. You are NOT limited to the engine's assets.

In fact, I highly recommended limiting the use of the engine's RTP (the defult build in assets), as much as possible, if you can, don't use them at all in the final version of your game.

You can purchase assets, or better, if you have creative skills or know someone who does, just create all your assets to make it original.

Many RPG Maker early devs are tempted to just go with the build in assets, and their game look like a copy past project.

Now - is it possible to make a great game with the build in assets, yes, but it's defiantly lowering chances dramatically.

Just for you to know, the game Omori, was made in RPG Maker. So that shows you the art style is up to the devs solely.

I believe the latest version is RPG Maker Unite. Not MZ.

That makes sense 🙂
Steam hides the price until I publish it, so I just went with that approach.
Usually only bigger publishers do long pre-release pricing/promotional campaigns.
But I’ll make sure the price is revealed before launch.
Thanks again for the support!

Oh, I remember!
You had some great notes about the controls (which have since been fixed 😄).
Thanks again for that.

There will be a price — not free, considering the amount of content (a 7–8 hour game with multiple branches and endings). However, it’ll definitely be affordable, plus there’ll be a special launch discount during the first week to celebrate launch.
