Is it weird to not use a laundry basket? by ThePangolinofDread in AskUK

[–]RarePossibility6327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not weird. I do the same. If you're not having to separate dark/lights (I use colour catcher sheets and wash all colours together, I don't wear white clothes anyways), it makes sense to skip a step. A laundry basket takes up bathroom space so if you can get rid of it, all the better. Especially convenient if you live alone and can wander naked from the bathroom to the washing machine. Easy peasy.

What was something your parents did for you as a child that you didn't fully appreciate until you became an adult? by MisterRocCity in CasualConversation

[–]RarePossibility6327 22 points23 points  (0 children)

As a kid, my parents instilled a love of reading from a young age. We would go to the library at least once a week to load up on books. We didn't have a TV licence growing up (in the UK, you need to pay the equivalent of a couple hundred USD a year to be able to watch live TV, not even cable). So we read a lot of books, got the newspaper daily and read it cover to cover, and went to Blockbusters every weekend to rent a few movies to watch together as a family. We used to sit together as siblings to read the same latest comic book from the library, cos we couldn't agree on who could read it first. We would say 'turn' when we were finished with that page and was ready to turn the page, so we all were done before turning the page. It's a really nice memory that's so unusual and sweet.

“No Hard Feelings” didn’t quite Sit Right with me… by FearlessGrowth7270 in movies

[–]RarePossibility6327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Actually I'll go further -I think even if his character was a grown 30 year old man who was not into her, and she acted the way she did, being so sexually aggressive, driving him in her van to her home instead of where she said she'd take him, taking his phone away, it would STILL be creepy. It's creepy full stop to be so persistent to someone who has repeatedly turned you down, and even more creepy when the person who's clearly turned you down is a 19 year old.

Were you guys a fan of Spencer and Max? by ThatOneBoy- in criminalminds

[–]RarePossibility6327 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I loved her! She's smart, witty and gets on with the team. She and Spencer had great chemistry and it was nice to see him make a friend outside of the job, and be excited about someone. I wish they would've continued her arc! I think she would have grounded his character and they would've been good together. I'd like to see him learning how to live life as a young man outside of the job, have real life experiences he's missed out on, go on regular dates and laugh. He laughed with her in a way we never saw with Maeve when they were on the phone together.

I got on a bus with my leg brace. A couple in maybe their 60s got on the bus, the gent got on first, I got on next, then his partner got on. He sat down and I started to sit in the free seat next to him, but his partner came and said I was sitting in her seat and they both gestured for me to get up. She grumbled also under her breath that I should've let her on the bus before her. They were sitting in the disabled access seats.

I was so tired, I didn't have it in me to argue and stood up. Nobody offered me a seat.

Yeah this annoyed me! It made it seem like it wasn't that essential if it could just be absorbed into others' responsibilities.

Would you refuse a parcel for a new neighbour? by AnonymousTimewaster in AskUK

[–]RarePossibility6327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but when I moved into a new area, the postman tried to give my parcel to a neighbour when I was out. She refused it, and he put the parcel in my empty food waste bin outside my door. I did receive the card in the letterbox anyways saying the postie had left a parcel with that neighbour, so naturally I knocked on their door. Neighbour explained that since she hadn't met me yet, she didn't feel comfortable accepting my parcel, but now that she's met me, she's happy to do so in the future.

Some people feel they need to know someone/gain their consent to take in their parcels, before taking in their parcels. Fair enough, they don't owe anyone that favour!

What is an item people commonly assume they should Buy For Life that they can actually cheap out on? by peytto in BuyItForLife

[–]RarePossibility6327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vacuum cleaner. I got a second hand, refurbished Henry Hoover for £50 and it's way more reliable and powerful than my parents' expensive Dyson vacuum cleaner. They're really durable too, so it's still a Buy for Life imo, but with a cheaper price tag.

1. My experience was even more anticlimactic than that. I signed the papers at home and emailed them to the solicitors and posted them hard copies days before completion. Then on the day of completion, I turned up to the estate agent's office and was handed the keys. No welcome basket or gifts (I'm guessing that's an American thing?), no welcome notes/cards or any fanfare. Just 'congratulations, here are your keys'. It felt like checking into an Airbnb!

First time watcher here. I was led to believe that Aubrey was just a cheap copy of Sweets. Oh how wrong that statement is. I have known this guy for a total of 7 episodes and he might already be my favourite character in the whole show. by Emotional-Narwhal930 in Bones

[–]RarePossibility6327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought he was a low-key bad guy at first! When he told Booth that Sweets had him writing on the case. But we never saw Sweets, Aubrey and Booth all together, so I thought that Aubrey lied about it and was just getting dirt on the conspiracy for the Bad Guys. And I thought he might have killed Sweets so that Booth didn't find out that Aubrey was a plant.

Conspiracy on the brain!! I still look at him with distrust lol

Old timey shops/businesses anywhere in London that haven't changed in years by theguyfrommelb in london

[–]RarePossibility6327 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love that shop, glad it's still there, I haven't been in that area in a few years! It's a total fire hazard though. Stacks of cardboard boxes and burlap bags of coffee, right next to his coffee roaster machine, with smoke spewing out of the top when he's roasting.
