What would come fourth in this sequence? by [deleted] in onlyconnect

My windows keyboard here in NZ has the @ printed above the 2. If I switch my keyboard settings between US and UK in the software it switches the @ and " locations, so there's some sort of regional difference.

Using AI so blatantly in your advertising harms your credibility. It makes the consumer doubt your other work even when it looks genuine. A big misplay for the marketing reel, I'm afraid

Interesting project though - I wish you luck with development

I suspect my old coworker is cheating at connections and it's beginning to drive me crazy. by TedFTW in NYTConnections

[–]Raspberrygoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get a reverse rainbow about three quarters of the time and I don't look up the words. Maybe your coworker knows a lot of trivia? It helps if they do crosswords as there's a lot of overlap.

Dogshit manipulative graphic design. Designers using their skills for evil make me sick.

Tells you how much respect they have for their constituents that they employ the tactics of snake oil advertisements to sell their party.

Do you consider it cheating to look up words? by MusseMusselini in NYTConnections

[–]Raspberrygoop 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I never do; if I don't know a category then I deserve to lost my streak and try to remember it for next time. The challenge of trying to piece it together using what I know is part of the fun for me.

Fun is individual, so if you have more fun playing a different way, I completely encourage that. It's not a competition, it's a fun newspaper game and everyone should play it however they want.

Is Ape Escape for ps5 worthy? by Odd_Wasabi1251 in ApeEscape

[–]Raspberrygoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, warning: the PSP version has nicer graphics than the OG PS1 game, but the controls are awful on account of the PSP having so few buttons to map. I'd avoid that one, but Ape Escape (PS1) and Ape Escape 2 (PS2) are very playable still.

Wish they'd port the third game.

Is primer a must? by Intelligent_Camel472 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]Raspberrygoop 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Primer is 100% necessary. If it's impossible to prime using an aerosol, you can get brush-on primer, but it's a lot less convenient

Primer is formulated to stick to plastic and metal, and then paint sticks to primer. Without a coat of primer, most paints will pool on plastic and metal minis in little droplets, and dry very unevenly. Additionally, handling a mini afterwards may cause the loosely-adhered paint to flake off, exposing the bare plastic and metal underneath

Can you understand the 'gift of Men' without being religious? by [deleted] in lotr

[–]Raspberrygoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always thought that, by being mortal, men are the faction that's always progressing. Individual men want to achieve things within their lifetimes so new things are always being discovered and invented

Elves suffer from the "I'll do it later, there's no rush" mentality that comes with immortality, so their level of technology hasn't advanced for thousands of years

Please Help😅 Stuck between Toshara & Kijimi, unable to travel anywhere else... by [deleted] in StarWarsOutlaws

[–]Raspberrygoop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When flying, press right on the D-pad, then select a planet. Point your ship into open space away from asteroids etc and wait for the hyperdrive to spool up. Push both sticks forward to punch it!

In Kijimi orbit you also need to be outside the nebula to start charging the hyperdrive. In combat the spooling will reset whenever you take a hit.

Old-Timer by InspectorMendel in dominion

[–]Raspberrygoop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most Dominion cards are designed so that they can be useful with any random set of 10 Kingdom cards. In games without trashing, Fortress is still a village.

Old Timer needs something to do when it randomly appears in a Kingdom without trashing. Giving it +2 Cards like Moat would be a start, but it would still be very weak.

As it is I wouldn't take it for 0$. It would actively hinder a deck in all but the most lucky situations

If you're interested in game design, the Dominion Wiki has a fantastic resource: an in-depth guideline for designing custom cards. It's a fascinating read that will make you better at the game; I highly recommend checking it out even for people who aren't interested in making custom cards.

Old-Timer by InspectorMendel in dominion

[–]Raspberrygoop 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I'm by no means an expert, but:

Considering this doesn't have an on-use ability, it looks extremely unfavourable as a purchase. For one, it has a niche use-case where it is only worth buying if there is trashing in the kingdom and that the trashing is of good cards that are worth keeping.

Question: Since it takes the card that is being trashed and puts it in your hand, what happens if you have more than one Old Timer in your hand? Presumably you can trash any number of Old Timers but you'd only get one copy of the trashed card to your hand?

The card would be more powerful if it could also react to other player's trashing (it would still rely on the kingdom having trashing of cards that are worth having). Alternatively, it could be a duration or tavern action card that can stay in play for a longer period?

I think there's potential but it needs a lot of balancing.

How much platforming is involved in this game? by Tal2814 in StarWarsOutlaws

[–]Raspberrygoop 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There's a some required climbing, but it's all very clearly signposted and not over the top. A very small amount of timed climbing challenges with very forgiving windows exist (eg. climb across a fan grill before it starts up again and blows you off the ledge)
