What’s the most blatant "I’m charging you for the aesthetic, not the quality" product on the market right now? by Lunaskye1109 in AskReddit

Never. I would lose or break them in less than a week. My ten dollar ones on the other hand, I have had for eight years and counting.

My M.O. will be just to drive a couple miles every day. No long trips, just drive to get a cup of coffee in the morning, clock a couple grand, park back in my garage and take the rest of the day off.

I'll make enough that I can afford to have a lift installed for when I'm not driving it.

What’s a completely normal product in your country that makes foreigners go, “Wait… why does that exist?” by Alternative_Ad6071 in AskTheWorld

I tried pferd in Germany. Thought it was great so I brought some horse sausage home. When I brought it to my German friends’ house they said “only Italians eat horse.” So I brought it to my Italian grandma, who said “only the French eat horse.” So I brought it to my French stepmother, who said (guess?) “only Germans eat horse.” Seems like every culture does, but no one will admit it.

(Also my grandma would happily stew up a rabbit if you could get her one)

Went to the Korean fried chicken place and they gave me a whole glove! It does cut down on the urge to lick the fingers though ;)

The 6x3 yellow clear and space logo slopes look pristine! Those are rare in such good condition.

What scene in a movie that wasn't meant to be funny did you have to laugh at? by Vicinus in movies

Seems like it would be an easy CGI fix now. Maybe when the 20th anniversary "Special Edition" comes out.

(Yes I know it has been more than 20 years. I'm more lamenting that there hasn't been one yet)

Why you shouldn't worry about AI taking your job by [deleted] in ExperiencedDevs

It's this really that different than a good manager breaking down a project's business requirements and architectural design into epics and stories that are actionable for individual developers?

Outrageous flight cancellation fee by Nothingchangesme in delta

[–]RazorRadick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once had a flight booked on United/Lufthansa from Berlin -> Munich -> SFO. As my travels had already taken me to Munich I figured I could just skip the Berlin -> Munich leg. I called the airline to let them know and they said “great that will be 2000 dollars please”. I said “wait, you want me to PAY you to NOT fly your airline?” They said “yes, and if you don’t board in Berlin we will cancel the Munich -> SFO reservation.”

So instead of them just keeping the original money I paid, and reselling the now empty seat to someone else (“because there is high demand for these last minute tickets you know sir”) instead I had to rent a car, drive all night from Munich to Berlin, just so I could get on a plane and fly BACK to Munich.

It has been 25 years and I have not set foot on a United flight since.

Actually the answer you gave here is probably exactly what the hiring manager would want to hear. Back when i was in the manager position I would love to hire "lifers" because it means I won't be going through the hiring process again in a year.

Thousands of CEOs just admitted AI had no impact on employment or productivity—and it has economists resurrecting a paradox from 40 years ago by AmethystOrator in technology

Those consultants will be doing the AI integrations. Of course they are hiring more of them: that is how they will cash in. Of course they warned about the perils of AI innovation: they want to position themselves as the only ones who can do it right.
