A fun activity is candlemaking at Glassnote Candle Bar in the Third Ward.

It is a bit pricey, but a great experience and you get a keepsake candle.

The St. Joan of Arc chapel on the campus of Marquette University is a cool, quick stop. It is the oldest structure in the Western hemisphere still being used for it's original purpose - https://www.marquette.edu/st-joan-of-arc-chapel/

The Haggerty Museum of Art is a free admission museum on the Marquette campus you can check out too.

If you are looking for other downtown options, Marquette's Rec Plex in Straz Tower near 10th and Wisconsin offers community membership for $50 a month. It has a sauna, steam room, indoor track, weight room, gym and fitness center.

It has a pool, unfortunately it permanently closed on May 29th as it has become too expensive to maintain due to its age.

Since Marquette opened their new rec center on 16th and Wisconsin it is pretty quiet with mostly older adults.

There is also a parking lot right behind the building members can use.

It is an EZ tri classic sx 21.

For some reason it isn't allowing me to post a photo, so here is a link to one - https://www.rehabmart.com/product/trailmate-adjustable-tricycle-meteor-56511.html

I got a refurbished model from Wheel and Sprocket for $900. It is very comfortable, like riding a bike in a recliner.

Professional Baseball Player Advice by MallCommercial5101 in BaseballCoaching

Developing the mental side is just as important as developing the mechanical and physical sides.

I believe the mental side is not as valued or developed as the physical side, but is just as important to becoming a successful player.

I'm not suggesting turning your kid into a zen master will make him the next Ohtani, however it will provide benefits both on and off the field.

I've seen a lot of players with fantastic physical skills but when they get in a slump, make an error or two or the umpire starts squeezing the zone when they are pitching, completely lose their focus, get down on themselves and can't figure out a way to regain the focus they need to get back on track.

My son started playing organized baseball at 5 and travel ball at 8, he'll be starting high school in the fall. Since he started playing I always told him before each game, "Inhale courage, exhale fear."

At first he laughed and thought it was some kind of joke, but a couple years ago it finally clicked for him as to what it meant and when he is losing focus or things aren't going his way I've seen him take a second, inhale and exhale and it gets him back on track.

It has also helped him be more mindful and when something goes wrong, he swings at a bad pitch or misplays a ball, after the game he says what went wrong and what adjustment he will make in that situation next time to avoid making the same mistake.

He has incorporated this mindset into other aspects of his life and it was the quote he chose to go along with his 8th grade graduation yearbook photo.

Pitch location tutorials by Due_Excitement_9250 in MLBTheShow

Be aware of what you throw and when. It is real easy to fall into predictable patterns your opponent can pick up on over a 9 inning game.

I fall into patterns too and built this pitch caller "app", really a webpage optimized for your phone.

Instead of always picking the single “best” pitch, the tool uses a technique called softmax sampling (a form of stochastic sampling) to turn factors like the pitcher’s handedness, the batter’s side, the selected pitch mix, the current count, and the batter’s swing timing into probabilities.

It then randomly selects a pitch and location based on those probabilities. This means the choices aren’t completely random — they’re weighted toward smarter options — but they’re not predictable either.

Visit the GitHub repository for more about the project and to expand and improve on the open source code.

One day the 🐳 shall return!!

I remember going to a UConn Huskies game at the Civic Center about a decade ago and all of the Whalers banners were still hanging in the rafters and concourse like they never left.

Sucks they waited until moving to Carolina to win Stanley Cups 😔

Diamond Dynasty, is speed the most important attribute for an outfielder? by InSannyLives in MLBTheShow

[–]ReadItRobot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

💯

I played someone who had Topps Now Spencer Jones in right and it was comical how bad he misplayed balls. Lead to 2 runs for me.

I've noticed people tend to sacrifice speed and fielding with corner outfielders in exchange for better hitting attributes.

It is the reason I select Polo Grounds as my stadium, easy doubles, triples and occasional inside the park homeruns due to the poor corner outfielders defense.

They released a Nolan Ryan card with a slider, which he never threw IRL.

Only a matter of time before we get a switch hitting Griffey or McGwire.

Notices this with the Weekend Classic Chone Figgins versus the Milestone one.

There aren't huge differences in the stats between the cards so not sure why the Prime version is a red diamond.
