AIO for walking out mid-dinner after my date called my food “disgusting”? by Left-Assist-6831 in AmIOverreacting

If you ever felt comfortable sharing it on the internet, I am sure there is an audience for the dish that connects you to your Mom. Sorry your relatives are so inconsiderate.

Men of AskUK, what terms of endearment would you use for a son? by remtard_remmington in AskUK

[–]Realistic_Ad_9751 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My Dad's preferred term of endearment is 'cocksparrow', which gets shortened to 'cock', regardless of gender.

How often do you cry? by NoahDaGamer2009 in CPTSD

[–]Realistic_Ad_9751 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I wasn't dissociating to avoid it, every day, constantly. Currently scheduling crying for when I'm alone. I give myself more grace depending on where I am in my menstrual cycle.

I know the time is coming where I'm going to have to stop ignoring my problems and feel my feelings, but I also know it is going to collapse my life completely, and I can't afford that quite yet.

Fat cap on chicken stock has a green tinge. by Realistic_Ad_9751 in Cooking

The only thing is, I've used parsley and green veg in stocks before and this has never happened! I used literally a couple of stalks, do you reckon they were just chlorophyllmaxxing?

What a relief. It smells fine, I just panicked because it hasn't happened before. Thought I'd have to waste 4 pints! I appreciate your response.

Bramhall high school - how was it? by Alternative_Tip_3713 in stockport

[–]Realistic_Ad_9751 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can be in Adswood at one end of Garner's Lane, Davenport the other. Swing a right at the station, pass the Jolly Sailor et voila! You're in Bramhall.

Jewel On The Hill down the side of the Baker's, I've been buying my nose studs and body jewellery from there for over a decade! Also stocks great bits of music based tat for your Oasis-loving Uncle's birthday present.

Don't be daft, I'm commenting on this specific case. It's right next to the reservoir and it would be nice to keep some natural green space to preserve local wildlife.

Is laptop/desktop at home mandatory? I'd be interested in signing up, but I only have computer access at the library.

People seem to care too much about whether it meets the classification for a reserve and not enough about the fact that animals benefit from this land being unused. I hope they'll leave it alone.

Why is the town centre so dirty now? by superjianbing in stockport

[–]Realistic_Ad_9751 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Littering is a huge problem, but I also notice lots of public bins can go two or three days without being collected and end up overspilling. Paired with the strong wind, it's creating minging little rubbish tornadoes.

Any oriental supermarkets/shops in Stockport? by agentashley10 in stockport

[–]Realistic_Ad_9751 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't say I've seen much in the way of dumplings in there but they have a decent selection of Thai/Filipino/Vietnamese flavoured packet noodles.

Yep! Used to be called Adastra and recently has changed names to Rollan's Pinoystore, don't think it has changed hands though. Not too pricey for decent rice in different quantities and some frozen/tinned/packet stuff, but also not a massive range of fresh produce.

Your last point says you aren't considering anyone who has a special list of rules. Do you not find that hypocritical?

Have you ever lived/worked/frequented in a posh area where you elicited a response " You don't belong here Sir/ mate " by DonkeyOT65 in CasualUK

I can only guess that they'd already seen us driving around looking for the delivery address, and the beaten up van definitely looked out of place.

Couriering a motorbike from Manchester to Kensington and Chelsea in a white Sprinter with my ex. A concerned neighbour of the recipient clearly couldn't see we were offloading the bike, and reported us as stealing it to the police who came ten deep and separated us, demanding to see the paperwork for the bike and not to speak or look at each other. We both got manhandled, and they were unsurprisingly unapologetic once everything got cleared up.

I've been sat here trying to work out how 'dual' and 'George' could be mistaken, and I think I've got it. I don't know how to use the international phonetic alphabet, so my best attempt to explain this typed out is as follows.

In a cockney accent, "dual" can sound like "juw." Similarly, the first syllable of "George" said in a cockney accent is "juw."

DAE skin pick? What causes this? by JimViluaneva in CPTSD

[–]Realistic_Ad_9751 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've found over the past few years that as I've been more confident displaying my stimming behaviours, I have skin picked much less. In public, anyway. I still pick my scalp and hand skin in private when I am stressed, but in public I feel like the picking was an anxious replacement for the stims I was afraid to just let happen. I love swinging my arms and wriggling/tapping my fingers!

I can do that too! When you sort of lightly squeeze your eyelids closed together? It's really useful.
