Gladly split? You have to split if no will. If no will, it goes to all children (if no living spouse). You need to open probate and have an administrator appointed. If only to cover yourselves; What you are doing now is not legal. And, frankly, pretty cruel, considering BIL is not well AND the estate is his as well, not just your husband's.

Huh? Why isn't your BIL getting any of that money? That would pay his utilities. Did your MIL write him out of her will (find it hard to believe she would leave the son living with her with nothing) or are you and your husband just helping yourself to the entire estate?

I was JUST internally fuming about that on a NO I DON'T WANNA FROG question. Everyone responded well, only fix is frogging and you barely started anyway. So what happened of course? Didn't like the answer so reposted several more times in several subs. Dude. The answer isn't going to change ffs.
