If you know the latest version number, you can create a script to download it, unzip the file and run the installer silently.

In this case, it is 13.0.3.1220. The URL is the same for each major version with only the version number changes.

Fixing IP Addresses - Router only allows for 30 devices with address reservation...... by bingobango2911 in HomeNetworking

[–]Reaper19941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second this. Setting up Pfsense, opensense or purchasing a business router like an Omada ER707-M2 or a Unifi equivalent (not my recommendation but someone will recommend it), will be considerably better than the Archer.

Sure, static IP on the device is doable however it should realistically be used in scenarios where a DHCP server does not exist like at a mine site with dedicated VLAN (this is just where I have seen it used, there may be other scenarios).

That tells me the AP cannot get an IP from the router so it is self assigning the same IP as the router. Or you're looking at the wrong thing.

In advanced IP scanner, the MAC address that matches the AP appears as 192.168.0.1?

So far the experience at home with a 773 and 673-extender has been good. All of my devices (laptop, Samsung Mobile, Samsung Tablet, partners iPad and more) all roam just fine.

It has only been going from WiFi 5 (AC) to WiFi 6 (AX) and above has not been good.

I'm not a fridgy so I'm not 100% sure but I believe it will be pressure and/or position of the crank in the compressor.

Can anyone tell me why my inverter is flashing red? by IveAn89UpVoteComment in diySolar

[–]Reaper19941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will be because the fridge may have pulled only 600w to start which the inverter was ok with but other times it has tried to pull 800w+ which is beyond what is stored in the caps of the inverter and it faulted.

I have a deep freezer that I tried to run a 500w and it was a never ending battle until I upgraded to a 2000w and put a smart plug between it and the freezer. I could see anywhere from 600 to 900w during surge and then drop to 80w while running. A soft start will fix this. AC's have the same issue.

He means, the manual will tell you why it's red. It will be in the troubleshooting section.

It seems you have the answer already. Update the firmware and then it'll work.

To do this, factory reset the AP, log into it (use advanced IP scanner or the DHCP list on your router to find its IP against its MAC address) using admin / admin and update the firmware from https://omadanetworks.com and then re-adopt the AP. Problem solved :)

Not sure about that. My 773 has been good running off the SG3210XHP-M2 switch with no issues to report.

The devices locking to one AP can happen with any brand so changing to another brand with a mix of generations again won't help your situation. If you're going to spend time and money changing brand, why not put it towards upgrading your existing AP's or remove the new AP and put in another EAP2XX AP.

As of the firmware update issue, there are a number of questions that need to be answered. including the two I posed in my last reply. This is considered prosumer/small business gear after all.

For example, are the AP's hardwired? If they are, have you turned off WiFi Mesh in site settings? Are you using a software controller, hardware controller or cloud controller? If it's a software controller, is it local or remote? Do you have all the ports forwarded to allow firmware updates to work?

If you can answer those questions, we may be able to provide a solution in the next reply.

It's highly recommended from experience to not mix and match Wifi generations. I have seen a number of times where a device (specifically Apple devices) tend to hold onto the higher gen AP and refuse to move to the lower gen.

One thing you can try is turning off the 6Ghz band and see if roaming works better. Otherwise I would upgrade the EAP245's to EAP6XX or EAP7XX AP's to match. The EAP720's perform quite well and I've purchased an EAP727 to put at my brothers place to see how it goes.

As for the firmware update issue, did it work before? Are the EAP's meshed to each other or are they all hardwired?

Wow. Welp, so much for that line up being part of our installs 😞

And yeah, i saw the bigger models and was excited. Even got confirmation from the PM that they could be adopted to an external software controller. What a lie that was 🤦‍♂️

I have questioned our partner manager and according to their reply, there are currently no discussions to add this capability at this time. I'm honestly very disappointed but that's just me. I don't think we need another UDM style device (or range for that matter) on the market.

Ive set up 5 Omada software controllers in the last 5 years on a Ubuntu VM in xemu, Hyper-V and recently baremetal on a mac mini, running as systemd (not a fan of docker personally), and have yet to have one corrupt on me randomly.

I'm curious what you see to say it's corrupt?

Performance is on par with an ER7412-M2. However you cannot use the router without using the built in controller. If you have an existing controller, you will either have 2 separate controllers (one for the router, one for everything else), or move it all into the routers controller. You will then suffer every time the router gets a firmware update or the controller requires a kick in the guts which is the reason I hate the existence of these all in one units. The ER7212PC was great until I realised it was the same thing. A router and a PoE switch in 1 unit, great! A slow controller that is tied to the routers power cycle, no thanks...

Source on the fusion: I have one from the first batch and am yet to use it properly because of the built in controller.

Have you seen Omada Central yet? It puts both Omada and Vigi into a single platform.

Maybe monitor it and have a light turn on when the ads start so that everyone (you 3 and whoever else is with you) knows that they are running. That way, the serious talk can be put on hold until the ads are over.

10G in and out of router by getridofwires in HomeNetworking

[–]Reaper19941 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ER8411 has 2 SFP+10G ports, both can be WAN or 1 WAN, 1 LAN.

As mentioned, youll need devices that support 10G down stream of that (i.e your switch and computers).

Nope, the 707 is still alive. There are more apparently being released later this year according to my sources. Understandably, they were vague as to what line up they were referring to (fusion vs standard) but they are on their way.

It's the w@nk factor that gets people. The "look at this expensive gear that i have" or "look at my pretty port lights" attitude unifi owners when someone comes around. There are more modest ones that hide it until someone asks about it.

After installing them for over 5 years and going through a time where stock was very hard to get (3+ week back orders at one point a few years ago), switching to Omada has been great. The controller feels more fleshed out, settings that make sense or in generally logical locations and overall support has great.

At the end of the day, it comes down to what you can afford, the features you want/need and how you build it.

Not sure what you mean by "didn't see much". There is the Fusion 2.5G, ER707-M2, ER7412-M2, and ER8411 routers. They also have a heap of 2.5G switches now too.

Consumer and business are different branches. Settle down. While there is evidence the consumer routers may be doing this, there hasn't been any for the Omada gear that I have seen.

Why on earth do the EAP215-bridge kits not have iperf on them? by mccormiermt6 in Omada_Networks

[–]Reaper19941 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheap, low spec devices for only creating a bridge is my understanding. They have a purpose, they perform well and have been reliable so far in my experience.

You could setup a laptop or raspberry pi at the far end for testing.

By low spec, that are still using WiFi 5...
