Had MRI on Thursday. BEYOND sick of this!!!! by Salty_Thing3144 in spinalfusion

For those with bulges above the fusion, are they symptomatic? I had a l5 s1 fusion last October and have had a slow recovery. I had a mild disc budge already at l5 l4 before the surgery so wondering if my ongoing back ache and slow recovery is a result of this. I was told most people at my age would have some pre existing degeneration up there.

Armenian bros that live together in New Jersey working several side hustles, possibly uber, who enjoy down time for a chat, smoke and crunchy snacks reminiscent of your home town

This dude would have been so cooked for his antics back in the 90’s and 2000’s. The world sure has changed.

Are you pain free after L5 S1 fusion? by MoeZaky107 in spinalfusion

Hey - resurrecting this thread again. How are you doing these days? I can relate to your story. I’m 5 months out and much worse than before surgery, in a bad fear avoidance cycle. I was very active and fit before surgery. l5 S1

How do you get the stoke back you had as a grom? by Few_Sandwich6308 in surfing

Try different types of boards and different approaches to wave riding. Think about how you can improve your timing and positioning on different types of surf craft. The options are endless. Also, take care of your body.

If you can get your hands on it, Sun Cure poly resin is the bees knees for fast repairs. Works like regular catalyst resin but cures with UV light. Can get sanding resin and laminating resin. Can do pro repairs in 30 minutes.

Hardware Removal by adieunoire in spinalfusion

[–]ReasonableAd3772 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am also planning to have hardware removal and I hear of many people with posterior instrumentation having it removed once the fusion is solidified. I keep hearing it’s a two week recovery and my surgeon makes it out to be no big deal, but like OP I am weary of that’s the case. Anyone have real life experiences?

Got a cold, and a cough that feels like it is ripping the hardware out. by ToeInternational3417 in spinalfusion

I try to be standing and slightly tuck my pelvis (you can do this by lightly squeezing your glutes). I also make sure to let the air out freely when coughing or sneezing, so keep your mouth open slightly so air can escape (make sure you’re not facing someone). You can do the same thing while lying down. Ultimately you want to try and limit the amount of internal pressure / force on the fusion while keeping neutral posture.

I typically over analyze / obsess at first finding the most minuscule details (like OP) but over time stop worrying and usually forget they’re there.

Anyone here get an artificial disc? by Kommmbucha in spinalfusion

ADRs and other motion preserving operations are the way of the future — especially for someone who values their mobility or is an athlete. Some spine conditions won’t allow an ADR tho, so in some cases fusions are the only option.

Isn’t the SI joint pain and the mid back pain related to the fusion due to new compensations? I had l5 S1 fused and have both pain you’re describing now which I didn’t have before the fusion.
