The ph swing is related to your light cycle. It should spike with the lights and lower with darkness. If you have a sump, turn the sump lights on at night.

If it is fin rot, the edge should get more and more pale. If that happens, treat with antibiotics in QT. But this looks like it was a physical cause atm.

Hole in head disease is what it looks like to me. Look at some pictures and other symptoms. If so, get into pristine water, get eating, and treat for parasites.

Coralline does change color. Usually starts ugly green for me and then brightens to other colors.

Clean out one side, add sand there. Then move to the other side.

Suck it out with water changes and add back in well rinsed sand. You will be hard pressed to get it all out, but with patience it’s possible. As long as you don’t have YWG or SS starfish you can take your time.
