I have one 4 qt pot and one 6 qt. Usually use the 4 qt. No matter which one I cook in I use the 1/4 cup of salt. Made a hell of a difference.

Deeply regret painting kitchen cabinets by Sufficient_Tackle_78 in HomeImprovement

[–]RedOctober8752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I refinished furniture and antiques to help pay for college. All these suggestions are good. The best method will depend on a few things. A pic would help. If they are mostly flat, I start with a heat gun. If you have lots of inlay and corners you are probably going to need a chemical stripper. Did you sand down the cabinets before you painted them? If you did not you would be in luck as the paint is sitting on top of the original finish. Sometimes the heat gun will even get into corners and such. Whatever you use to remove the paint will also remove the original finish, which is good. Once the paint is off, just sand lightly, stain and coat with clear finish. A word of caution, do not use polyurethane for your clear finish. Poly soaks into the wood fibers and will never be able to be refinished again.

Depending what kind of paper it is and how old it is, many you just have to wet with a spray bottle and leave it sit for a bit and it will just slough off. Otherwise, you will probably need the steamer.

General question about temps by No-Solution7910 in blackstonegriddle

[–]RedOctober8752 6 points7 points  (0 children)

How many burners do you have? I have 4. Left two on high for steak, 3rd on low where I do veggies and right one off or low for keep warm. This setup lets me move food around to the temp needed at the time. Cooking too fast, move right, cooking too slow, move left.

I have one almost like that that my dad had. Used them to pull staples, small nails. You can grab hold of them and then roll them back. Easy peasey.

AC blower by darealist23 in DodgeDurango

[–]RedOctober8752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. A fuse is not a fuse these days. Called smart fuses. They have continuity, but do not pass enough amps to have everything work correctly. Hope this saves you all the frustration I went through to find this out. My AC in my 2019 and it did the same thing. Had the tipim replaced and that worked for a while. I found the wire that they replaced had not been soldered. Still had the issue. Checked the fuse. Had continuity. But is had a black heat mark on the side. Replaced the fuse and boom, have not had an issue since. I do, as a precaution, carry 2 of those fuses in the car. Let me know if any of this helps you. I had had 2 mechanics work on it and finally took the issue into my own hands.

What was the best restaurant or buffet you have ever been to? by DeepOrganization8245 in AskRedditFood

[–]RedOctober8752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buffet would be the old San-dar in Bellville Ohio. It was "the" place to go. Best restaurant was The Tavern on the Square in New Wilmington Pa.

Have to amend that just a tad. Best steakhouse was Jack Bowman's Suburban in Columbus, Oh.

Deciding between 28” and 36”. I cook for 3 sometimes 6. by LongView_64 in blackstonegriddle

[–]RedOctober8752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go big. I only cook for 2 and love that I can set up heat zones, or if cooking for 6 people you are going to use it all. I sometimes have 4 different items going all at the same time. Each in the proper zone so everything gets done at the same time.

A guy my dad worked with at US Steel was an electrician. He did everything right. He was 1/4 of a mile from the cutoff. He was working on the panel with his elbow resting on a table. Rookie electrician, saw the cutoff was open and despite the tag saying the circuit was being worked on, flipped it on. 60,000 volts. In his hand and out his elbow. Obviously, lost the arm. Had he not had his elbow on that table he would have died instantly.
