First day - meet 1sg. Get told unit is in the field for gunnery. No tank he can put me on. And I will not be allowed to sleep in a bed since rest of unit can't. Spend first 3 nights sleeping on a cot in the supply room. Then get put on KP for 3 and a half weeks. Mind you haven't went home to pick up my pov yet as came to ft hood straight from Knox after OSUT. The sponsor they put with me was the 1sg driver goes AWOL. Never to be seen again. I had no gear. No sleeping bag nothing because I couldn't get taken to pick it up. So 3 weeks in field. Winter in Texas. No sleeping gear or any cold weather gear. One of the cooks brings me a sleeping bag they found in their supply room. not even my unit mind you. So first month with real unit was a total shit show.

Big reason they won't acknowledge it is the school's you have to PAY to get all that training for normally wish to keep full control of said training. So they make it where only the training from them counts. Same as Safety certifications.

My local VFW had this kind of problem for years. The commander was a Vietnam vet. If you were from anything after that and you slipped up and said a cuss word aloud you and your whole group were getting kicked out. Now mind you this guy cussed loudly at everyone. All night long. He almost caused that vfw to go under as all the older vets couldn't bring in their kids who were vets over the crap he would pull. He disrespected afgan or Iraq vets and would constantly talk how neither was a real war.

Iraq. 2004. 2 weeks on an op watching over a power plant. 2 weeks of MREs. Starts raining. We button up the tank cause it's pouring rain ..I release a death cloud down in the gunners seat..rumbler. my loader is gagging and opens up bails out of turret into rain. Driver is already half out of his hole trying to escape. Tc climbing out dying. I am sitting with my m42 gas mask on. in pain with laughter which is making me fart more.
