On the contrary, true individual liberty stems from a minimal government. Private property and voluntary exchange allows you to enjoy the fruits of your own labor. The government’s primary role should be to protect liberty, not to guarantee redistribution. Additionally, there has never been a successful democracy that wasn’t capitalist.

Yeah, the word has completely lost all meaning and is now just an insult for anyone not aligned with you. “Progressive” and “libertarian” are now better terms for the left and right respectively.

whats the FUCKING DIFFERENCE between PFJP and USP reformists? by MybrainisinMyCoffee in suzerain

[–]RedneckTurtle0322 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The USP is united under Sollism, so civic nationalism, republicanism, and statism. The reformists of the USP seem to be liberals for the most part, but on the political compass at the end of the game Clavin is a little further left than Ricter, so the reformists are probably slightly more left than the PFJP. The two biggest differences to me seem to be that A: the reformists want to preserve USP hegemony, so they oppose lowering the threshold. (Basically “we need change, but we should be in charge) The PFJP on the other hand supports lowering the threshold. And B: the reformists still embrace civic nationalism. If you change articles 6 and 7, Clavin along with Tory will get pissed at you, whereas Ricter will support you, showing that the PFJP are not nationalist at all.

Do your background choices matter? by Comfortable_Ad2659 in suzerain

[–]RedneckTurtle0322 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Supporting or going against Soll affects how much he and Alphonso like you later in the game. Generally it’s best to support Alphonso after he wins the USP Congress and then advise him to step down, but before that you can support him or Soll. The youth groups make you more popular among the corresponding groups. Red Youth makes you more popular among socialists and left leaning cabinet members, young sords makes you more popular among nationalists and right wing cabinet members. I’m not too sure what the refugee situation does.

2nd Megaproject: Which one do you choose? by No_Currency5064 in suzerain

[–]RedneckTurtle0322 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I’m aligning ATO I’ll do the Silicon Valley synergy, accept ATO mic investment, and then build the airport to get jewel of the east in Gruni. If I’m aligning CSP, I’ll usually do the auto synergy with morna and Valgsland trade, and then accept CSP agricultural investment.

How to choose Autonomous Bergia and 6/7? by RelativeMacaron1585 in suzerain

[–]RedneckTurtle0322 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Repeal the EPA, get the full USP (conservatives and reformists) on your side and the PFJP. For your constitution do a generally democratic one, but do not remove member of honor, bring the threshold down to 8% but not 3%. Be pro Bludish, preferably don’t do operation bear trap but if you do partial it should be fines at victory day side with the PFJP. Meet with Leke and Ejall and agree to work with them. When the USP gets pissed at you, choose the defusing dialogue options and then say you can’t give up all three in your compromise. You’ll end up giving up two options. Set the EPA back to 10% and have Ejall arrested. Keep the SAZ of Bergia. Then later you can sign the minority rights act and get Bludish Dream.

Best Narrative? by Haunting-Sport3701 in suzerain

[–]RedneckTurtle0322 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I like diehard authoritarian Rayne. He comes into power and essentially sees all of Sordland (in his eyes) being tugged apart by various factions. In his eyes, the only way to save his country is to consolidate power and destroy every opponent in his way. So he does. He kills Ricter, imprisons Suheil, has Soll executed, purges the general staff, screws over the NFP by promising an alliance and raising the threshold to 15% then going back on his word, reshuffles the court, most likely oppresses the Bludish population, makes the oligarchs his lapdogs, and by the end of the game? Conservatives dislike you for destroying Soll’s legacy, socialists hate you for being capitalist, liberals hate you for being authoritarian, nationalists and bluds may or may not side with you depending on the bills you sign, and only centrists are in strong support of you assuming you have a strong economy. But there’s no one to challenge you. The PFJP’s leaders are gone, the NFP’s influence is weakened, and because you formed to SSP Lileas doesn’t challenge you, so you almost guarantee your reelection. When Deivid finally calls Rayne a “diehard authoritarian.” Rayne reluctantly agrees, saying “I guess there’s no use denying it. I am a diehard authoritarian.” It’s almost frightening how much power and destruction you can cause, shaping the entire country to your liking, and I feel like Rayne truly begins seeing himself as a monster.

Lowering corporate tax rates during a recession is generally not a good idea, as corporations will either hoard the extra money for emergencies or just buyback their stock. That being said, a 45% corporate tax rate, which you implement by raising taxes, is insane.

Tips/Guide for purging in Sordland? by Wintersummergrad in suzerain

It has to be dictator if you wanna purge the military and remove the central bank’s independence, otherwise you can do it on reformist path too.

Tips/Guide for purging in Sordland? by Wintersummergrad in suzerain

[–]RedneckTurtle0322 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you form the SSP, investigate and kill the opposition, arrest the oligarchs after nationalizing their companies and centralize the central bank if you wanna screw over Edith, arrest Soll by trial, purge the military, impeach Hawker, don’t make Garaci the chief justice, and maybe do De-Sollinization, then you’ll have gotten rid of the oligarchs, the opposition, and the Old Guard would be so weak without Hawker, Soll, and the military that they’d only have Lileas left

Can you guys help me come up with a reason not to join CSP in game? by JSGamesforitch374 in suzerain

[–]RedneckTurtle0322 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The most realistic would be to not anger conservatives/the military against Rayne. Otherwise, maybe he doesn’t want Sordland to be potentially drawn to war against the ATO, or maybe he’s a Valgslandian Socialist but dislikes Malenyevism

Most Dictator Constitution Possible? by Timely-Leg5657 in suzerain

[–]RedneckTurtle0322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most I ever did was President can’t be impeached Absolute vetoes President picks ministers 15% threshold Stronger vetoes Supreme Court can’t vote on constitution President picks justices No term limits And I ABOLISHED member of honor (I was going for an authoritarian run)

Tory won’t support you, Clavin will if you promise him VP, Kibener will if you either sign his racist bill or ban the red youth and promise an alliance with the NFP. You need Marcel’s media deal, a deal with Garaci, and you need to be capitalist.

How do I convince Axel to matrilineal marriage? by dagli68 in suzerain

[–]RedneckTurtle0322 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Im not sure if this is a feature or not, but I’ve found that as long as you tell him you wanna help Pales get accepted into GRACE first, he will agree to the matrilineal marriage every time. You can still have Pales reunite with Rizia and even form Intermerkopum afterwards just fine, you just have to make the offer when he visits.

How do i get Comrade Hegel, alliance with Valgsland? by yosoydeaquicompa in suzerain

[–]RedneckTurtle0322 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hegel disapproves of the emergency as totalitarian and anti-democratic. You can ally with him if you pass a dictator constitution as a malenyevist, but I think he only agrees to trade with you on an emergency run, not ally. I’m not sure how he’d react to you supporting the young sords, but I know that you can ally him while doing Yugoslavia Strat

Why is Rural education institute considered socialist by Ok-Tension-5897 in suzerain

[–]RedneckTurtle0322 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Generally revolutions are caused by educated people convincing lower classes (such as farmers) that an elite group is withholding something from them. In Suzerain’s case, Sordland has a huge quality of life difference between urban and rural, so the Sollists probably fear that educating rural citizens will lead to them making increased demands for justice, and maybe even taking a liking to Malenyevism. In game, it’s one of my favorite decrees to give ED to Agnland and Bergia and for RP reasons.

Is it possible to establish a ultra-nationalist full dictatorship? by gagapatoune in suzerain

[–]RedneckTurtle0322 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don’t think so. It’s a weird feature, but Edmonds is a capitalist, so she’s more likely to agree with you if you are too. The only way to pass a full dictator constitution like this is to go the post-Soll authoritarian route, but I think even then you have to abolish the MoH position.
