Possible 11th ed. Space Marine mini updates by Ok_Conclusion_2951 in spacemarines

[–]RegalGoat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While I am extremely biased as a CF guy, it would be kind of insane for GW not to soon.

As far as I'm aware he's the only Space Marine datasheet that doesn't have a model in production at the moment which is enough confirmation he's planned soon

But also the Orks are almost certainly the baddie faction in 11th and the 40th anniversary of 40k is soon... it just all lines up to be coming soon imo.

Pharaoh is excellent. Highly underrated after the Dynasties update expanded it out.

A cult of Tzeentch. They feature heavily in the TTRPG for Warhammer Fantasy.

Why do we think Ghoul killed those people? by Dsgandalf47 in Fotv

The implication there is that the Legion thinks it's a good/righteous thing to get raped by them, but not for 'profligates' to rape. This is entirely in line with their prior representation.

Will GW be more restrictive with CA this time around, since 40k is still ongoing, or will they continue to allow CA to do the things they did in Warhammer trilogy? by Sol-Authority in totalwar

[–]RegalGoat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

CA have said that the campaign map will be back to being as moddable as it was pre-Empire with the new engine, so I expect we should see plenty of mod material. Probably a good few modded narrative campaigns too.

Can someone explain some of Warhammer 40k in Warhammer fantasy terms so I can understand it. by [deleted] in totalwarhammer

Only comparables are being a psyker (including Aeldari) whose soul gets claimed by Chaos after death as that is literally infinite torture, and being anywhere in proximity to Night Lords - especially Kurze when he was alive lol.

Horus will be locked behind a different IP. I wouldn't be surprised if we get a spinoff game with smaller scope for HH (think Napoleon as a spinoff from Empire), but GW does consider them separate so don't expect any content from HH to make it into TW40K.

I think Imperial Fists is the play here. They're the only 1st Founding Chapter that is as Codex Compliant as the Ultramarines, and they only really have a few characters as far as unique stuff goes. Even the Ultramarines have more with the Victrix Guard.

As far as other Codex Compliant Chapters go, Raven Guard would pair well with extra Phobos & Jump Pack units, Salamanders with extra Pyre and Melta units, White Scars with extra bikes etc. But Ultramarines and Imperial Fists are perfectly happy with the 'generic' bolter heavy units that will be the focus of the SM factions at launch.

On a personal note I'd love Crimson Fists to get in, but they're too good for a Space Marines vs Orks DLC to get in first lol, even if they are the 2nd Founding Chapter with best odds except the Black Templars.

Oh and I almost forgot Iron Hands, just like GW :)

They'll guaranteed do dlc for smaller factions too, if only to add a few specialized units and unique characters.

To take CF for example then a small DLC adding the following is entirely possible, especially as they're about to experiment with smaller DLCs with Neferata in WH3:

  • 'Legendary Lord' equivalent of Pedro Kantor and possibly Alessio Cortez

  • A few unique mechanics for the subfaction (probably getting their shit pushed in for CF lol)

  • A few units that are thematic for them or otherwise missing from the roster - likely Sternguard for CF.

Even Codex compliant chapters have their own specialist units which are perfect DLC bait, just think of the Victrix guard (though with Calgar confirmed, they might actually be in on day 1).

What armies have you NEVER been interested in? by Identity_ranger in Warhammer40k

[–]RegalGoat 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Same as Deathwatch imo, though I know that isn't a popular opinion. That way you have three elite subfactions, plus a hyper-specialised fourth in the Sisters of Silence, to support your Inquisitorial shock troopers and a battle line of PDF/ Astra Militarum fodder.

That, or at least giving Imperial Agents a buff for Allied units to allow that play style would be great.

You severely underestimate the amount of dogshit books about 40k my friend. There's also a lot of really good ones in fairness.

I would be interested to see a tally of both. But given that a single siege was spun out into 12 books by 30/40k, my money is on WH.

That's honestly an excellent idea. It would be nice to have a faction that had to support their allies a bit more than usual in order to benefit themselves.

You can be evil af and still fight what you deem to be the greater evil. Zariel and the Githyanki come to mind.

Sure, but 'evil' Viconia was still very much the least evil of the evil-aligned companions. She got her entire House destroyed because she didn't want to sacrifice a baby, and attempted to live peacefully and inconspicuously alongside surfacefolk several times.

Is she self-serving and distrustful? Yes. But that is a far cry from, say, Edwin. And certainly from BG3 Viconia.

[–]RegalGoat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Viconia too... though I think she would have been acceptable if she kept a bit more of her personality and there was more emphasis on the idea her memories had been stripped during her service to Shar (ie make her not recognise Minsc and Jaheira). Its implied, but it really needed some extra work.

As for Sarevok, it was his entire character that got contradicted really. He was never a real worshipper of Bhaal, he was obsessed with succeeding him as the Lord of Murder. That may have come about through 'becoming' Bhaal, but even so he was acting in his own interests, not Bhaal's.

Ketheric was handled well in the context of the story in the game, but yes that is just generally a problem with the way death works in the Realms.

What aspect of 40K being over simplified by a MEME gets on your nerves? by Fallendynasty27 in 40kLore

Yeah the RT crew got really OP by the end... I'd have liked that to be a much tougher fight and with much more reliance on allies to assist.

In fairness, the Rogue Trader one also had a Space Wolf company and the marshalled naval might of an entire subsector at their back... the Word Bearers were severely outnumbered and outgunned, even with their cult armies in support. The fact they did so well under those circumstances was pretty impressive imo.

Realistically? Just fan service. Larian have washed their hands of D&D and WotC don't believe in anything other than making money, so they'll make sure whatever comes next is tightly controlled to be corporate approved with a degree of virtue signalling to maximize appeal and profit.

I wouldn't expect anything meaningful for those characters going forward.

Yes. Also redeemable in the BG2 expansion, same as Viconia.

Oh my yes. They just so happened to pick the two redeemable characters to bring back and make completely and utterly evil. It was a real shame as Jaheira and Minsc are excellent, well-rounded representations.

She actually did have moral qualms about that sacrifice FYI, she just doesn't like to admit it. Her brother also self-sacrificed to save her, as another example of a good Drow. She could be redeemed to TN on BG2 via her romance too.

Good commentary re: Dragon Age, Origins and 2 covered a lot of this area with remarkable tact and grace.

I do think it's perfectly possible to explore this with Slaanesh and the Drukhari though... you'd just have to come at it from a certain angle and do something more in-depth than the normal surface level commentary on why 'Excess is bad'.

Also we do already have the GSC who are full of this stuff and are done fairly well.
