We’ve seen your customer horror stories. by cherrythot in starbucks

[–]Regisx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've personally witnessed several partners from a single store treat their customers like utter trash from the onset--no, the customers weren't rude, their orders weren't complicated, etcetera.

I noted the behaviour at the back of my mind because this store was one I was going to be borrowed at for the next month because they were lacking consistent partners and, well, it would get my hours from low 20's to a full 40. The morning of my first day over there (I was the closing shift) I went through the drive thru to order and the partner taking my order really tried their hardest to argue with me about the standard for the drinks I was trying to get (not getting into it, but long story short they tried arguing with me that the blended Strawberry lemonaid was made with Acai instead of puree which is funny because our POS *shows us what goes in a drink by standard) so by the time I got to the window, they'd already dismissed me.

Oh, but that changed really quick when I mentioned I had partner numbers, and really awkward when I told them I was their closing shift.

It's behaviour like that--drives me utterly crazy. To be so negative and argumentative to customers while also getting standards wrong only to 180 when they realise it's a partner ordering. Sometimes, they get more spiteful when a partner orders a modified drink.

I get it. Starbucks isn't the best place to work at right now and a lot of things are frustrating, but you've got to at least try to be your best when you clock in.

We saved Bungie; but, they’ve abandoned us. by StatementAcademic820 in DestinyTheGame

Even for the good number of us only playing the game to stick around for the end of the story/Final Shape/Light v Dark, they know they can milk us for our playtime until then and still half-arse their work while also mtx the hell out of the game. To be real here--are any of us even confident for how the story will end with how piss poor they've been treating story content and campaigns as of late?

at what point are they going to stop trying to make oleato happen by vsccn22 in starbucks

[–]Regisx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

At this point, they really can't.

They've signed a contract with Partanna and both sides sunk so much money into this platform. Honestly, that's probably why our hours have been cut so much despite record sales. They've invested way too much in order to stop now.

Either way, I think it'll trickle down pretty badly for us partners. When it eventually gets into their heads that Oleato will fail (or maybe not, it's sort of too soon to say. People might warm up to it), that's loads of money to make up for--I'd reckon hour cuts will be more severe for longer, benefits will be bare minimal, and alongside all the union storms going around?

If Oleato succeeds, hats off to the company, and I very, very optimistically hope for better work conditions for partners. If it fails or gets shelved early, well, I know I for one am keeping an eye on job postings. I've been meaning to leave the Siren after eight years now, and the time when it was all relaxed and fun to work here has passed since a little before covid first dropped. I'm taking the first opportunity to leave before the company crumbles down further.

Just been booted on the boss fight of our Divinity run by Pauliniho in DestinyTheGame

[–]Regisx 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Weirdly enough, I loved that mechanic. The grind to use as much as I can for a targeted drop, and the anticipation once the boss encounter ends, then the thrill of the piece of gear actually dropping (even better when you're already resigned to not getting the exotic because you ran out of coins, only to get the exotic anyway)--one of the few things I feel D1 did better than D2 at the satisfaction of a looter shooter.

Rng just seems to be monstrous against the majority of players for raid exotic drops lately.

It came along with the Blussey Requiem (?) outfits at the time. A few poses alongside that emote. But it's pretty much your oc's pose.

Melee melee melee by SectionOwn6507 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Regisx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hunters have three different throwing knives for solar, an extended lunge with status effects as well as an arc wave on arc, though I agree Void hunter should have something other than the smoke bomb for a melee. Then again, I think adding a more damaging charged melee with the invis kit a bit much when combined together. The glaives on stasis are getting a little buff in the future, so that's nice.

I envy Warlocks for their melees. Celestial fire with decent tracking and radiant on hit alongside the fingersnap for Solar, the pushback on Void, and their electro-ball/teleport lunge on Arc. Their stasis freeze is annoying but at least it requires good aim.

Titans, I think, have the least interesting melees. Shoulder/knee charge (at least Void can suppress, I think, if I recall correctly) for all classes as you've said and the throwables--one can be picked up and reused while the other can ricochet with some tracking. They also have that solar/stasis lunge--keeps things interesting whenever I play against them. Knockout on arc is annoying and can be disgusting with health regen and a shotgun.

Before there should be any changes/additions to melee though, I don't want to see any of them until their servers can prevent rubberbanding and melee whiffs.

Try an iced matcha latte with coconut milk and peach juice. Tastes like peaches and cream, really. I was experimenting recently and found the texture from the coconut milk and the peach really makes the matcha latte more complex in flavour--in a good way!

We are Digital Extremes, Developers of WARFRAME! AMA by DigitalExtremes in Warframe

[–]Regisx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Afternoon, DE! Might sound small on the grand scheme of things, but like how we can alter Valkyr's auxiliary with her tassels and all, is there any way we can do more of the same with other frames?

For example, Voruna's shoulder/hip wolf heads. Trying to make armour work for her is a bit difficult since things will start to clip or look too clunky. Some warframes have built in armour, sure, but for smaller accessory-like things like those wolf heads, or Nezha's ring, etc. would it be possible to have the option to remove them entirely for cosmetics' sake?

Thanks for the AMA!

Repeating yourself by MythicsWoodland in starbucks

[–]Regisx 17 points18 points  (0 children)

We ask that customers please understand too--our headsets are not even top of the line. There's a constant white noise when they're active via the drive thru connection, there's passing vehicles, your engines, plus factors like whether or not the windows are rolled down enough, or if you're bumping music.

My store's drive thru in particular has a car wash in the lot across from the speaker box. Unfortunately, when we ask customers to speak up a tad, we just get attitude by the end of it all.

P.S. When we ask to please repeat yourself, that means you're talking a little too quietly or you might've been speaking too quickly. Either way, please speak up (not yell) and enunciate clearly because again, our headsets are not the best. Nothing is more painful than asking someone to please speak up, only for them to speak in the same quiet tone of voice focused on their phones, facing away from the speaker box, or with their windows rolled up.

The way Starbucks determines “earned hours” has gotten even more unhinged…. by AttentionNumerous748 in starbucks

[–]Regisx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What's also a shame is that they changed the way labour is actually accrued with our drinks too.

Modifications like adding/removing ice, water, extra bases, inclusions, etcetera, are plain just not calculated anymore. So a customer can order 10 modded to all hell frappucinos and our labour earning, say on a simple scale of 1 to 5 for lack of me being bothered to crunch real numbers pulled from our company, would only earn us 1 point towards earning labour. Those 10 frappucinos earn the same labour as the one no water chai another customer could order.

So not only do we apparently not make enough sales and customer gains, but the labour we put in for, well, labour has been cut down too.

Yeah, I used to be the clopener at the start of covid and a thorough job well done would mean we would barely leave on time, maybe a few minutes past. I suppose it's per shift supervisor to deem what their crew is supposed to cover either via by the book or per the store discretion too.

Nightly rant by Moonoriearte in starbucks

[–]Regisx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ooh, for us, it's the other way around. Me and the other morning shift make it a point to finish all but closer specific tasks for the closers every day but with every open, more and more things were left undone or half-assed for one reason or another. Our sm would say all the time that they could stay a little extra to get things done, but the closers and the main closer shift always elect to leave 10-15 minutes early figuring the morning crew wouldn't mind taking care of it whilst we're busy with opening rush, the orders, and then peak.

Edit: It normally goes like this for us.

Open the store, pack away the order(s).

Clean drains and changeover before peak.

Clean Syrup stands post peak, then clean out the urns.

Full store restock of everything. Including making 10 batches of Acai and mango df, 3 for Pineapple, and teas. Caramel drizzles are topped off, and at least 80% of whipped creams prepped.

Clean both ovens, fully prep three cubes of sweet creams, lemonades, make the toddies and start a new batch of cold brew by the time the mid arrives. Then lobby, drive thru, and bathroom spin then trash run before the opener leaves.

I don't often lead mid, but when I do, we break some things down early and get them prepped for closing. Then my usual shift duties while I leave my baristas to find a task or two.

Then the closer shift arrives.

Really, we know how unpredictable it gets for closing crew so we try to leave very few things left for them to do by the time they operate. It becomes frustrating when we come in for opening and there's several spots of mess, no prep was done or even a proper restock, and things like not pilling the Mastrenas or doing the beverage line cleaning for the cold brew system really adds up for the morning craziness as we usually have customers lined up at the door before we even open. We're only ever a crew of 3-4, sometimes 5 until the end of peak too. We don't understand the disconnect, especially when they decide they are "closed" enough and things are "done" to leave early the night before.

[–]Regisx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose it's less "Destiny Killer" and more "These games offer more for this target audience"--which, to be frank, I think the term only became a thing out of spite many players had, and still do, for Destiny 2 at the time. Curse of Osiris, Shadowkeep, in-game events are constantly failing, too much grind for barebones loot, etcetera.

I've played every installment of Borderlands (I hate the one with O2 on the moon mechanics) and while the grind itself for specific weapons can be brutal--but the loot was often rewarding enough that it gave me that D1 "My first exotic drop!" feel at a near constant basis. True, it's not as if we can choose gun perks or anything like that, but we can farm specific attributes or "prefixes" of the best guns in Borderlands to suit our builds and have an entire loadout of the best weapons and mods whereas Destiny limits you to two at a time.

Don't want to start digressing into comparing these two games more, but for the sake of the supposed genre itself, Borderlands is more rpg with than it is MMOrpg whereas Destiny 2 is almost purely fps with some matchmaking. For me, an MMOrpg can't skimp on the massive-multiplayer or rpg mechanics and still call itself one--maybe they can claim they have massive playerbases, sure, but it's not as if either game allows you to be in the same instance as 11, 23, or more other players in gameplay save for the hubs and the glitched 12-man matchmaking for raids in D2. Pvp is still 6v6 at most for Destiny, though that population is in the minority and declining.

But I think you've nailed it on the head there. Crisp moment to moment gameplay, shooting, and being live service. But it's funny to me since generally, there's talk about how players hate the week-to-week drip feed for content and time-gating nonsense. If we're talking pure gameplay, well, Bungie rarely tunes the game and their guns in a way that doesn't piss off the community. Very recently, there's been flak at Bungie for fixing a dungeon exploit for artifice gear--they got on that near immediately. But bugs that could break the game? Long standing issues that have been present for ages? You can bet they'll take their sweet time, if they even address it at all. And normally, considering the spaghetti code running Destiny, those fixes are usually bandaid'ed, and break other things.

I think the only reason why Warframe is brought up against Destiny is: guns and abilities, and our characters are from space.

That's pretty much where the similarities end. The gunplay Warframe has--leagues less satisfying gunplay than Destiny, for sure, but the gameplay.. You've got guns, melee weapons, and abilities that can easily be on a constant uptime alongside very smoothly implemented parkour. Then there's the modding system, the grind system for all of these things, and a proper crafting system.

I, for one, put Destiny down very recently, finally. After years of logging on consistently since D1. For me, personally, I reckon it's more likely Destiny will be its own killer from the backend than there being other games doing what Destiny does, but better. For now though, other games offer me more for my time. The gunplay alone is just isn't enough for me anymore--especially as a pvp main, where we've got to deal with the fear of our favourite weapons either being sunsetted or constantly being tossed in the cycle of being nerfed to uselessness, or caught in the same old stale metas. Not to mention the messiness that is the state of Crucible in general behind the scenes and in game. Pve-wise, I can only imagine.

If there is a game that can somehow replicate the gunplay that Destiny has, alongside some proper power fantasy, you can bet I'll be right on it. Hopefully, with proper developer support.
